LOI DAY IS HERE!

Well, almost here. What surprises might it hold? Will Tedford and Company reel in a last minute gem? Make a steal from UCLA or one of the schools with coaching changes? We should know by around noon tomorrow. I invite everybody at lunch from work or at home with that nasty flu that is going around (like ME) to log on and share your comments on this years recruiting class.

Things have been a little slow around this site since soon after the Armed Forces Bowl so-- Let's Get This Party Started, Again!  Please post any thoughts you have regarding this years recruiting class, the Fernley incident, Spring Practice or anything pertinent to Cal Football. We need your enthusiasm and energy! Special thanks to the regulars who keep things interesting with comments and links to articles.

Will Tedford and Cal be allowed to comment on the Kevin Hart story after tomorrow or do they have to remain silent as he is evidently still a "recruitable athlete"?

It kind of sucks to have a gag order in place which prevents hearing Cals side of the story.

It's all very fun and exciting.  Especially with the season so far away, it's hard not to get caught up in the buzz.

Still, we need to keep it all in perspective.  Only time will tell how good (or disappointing) these guys will be.  We have to trust Tedford's judgement and skills in bringing out the most from his recruits.

Mainly, I make this point to direct your thoughts to programs like Mizzou, KU, and on the other end of the spectrum, ND.  Talent level is a major factor, but coaching and cohesiveness can weigh just as much, if not more (as we saw at the end of the year).  The Super Bowl was another great example.

So, anything's possible.

Something to Chew On -

Sam McGuffie - RB - Cypress, Texas

McGuffie has been committed to Michigan since July, but reportedly made a visit to California in the last week. As of 11 a.m. CT, McGuffie is considering not even signing today and delaying his decision between Michigan and Cal. (Updated: 11 a.m.)

Rivals ranked McGuffie as the #10 back in the country

Ht: 6-foot-0
Wt: 188 lbs

Forty: 4.32 secs
Bench max: 355 pounds
Bench reps: 15
Vertical: 41 inches
Shuttle: 3.83 secs

This would be a major steal for Cal, obviously even though there were no offical visits listed for last weekend; there were visits.  This is a LOI day surprise.
