Sorry to hear about the break-in. Sadly even Clayton is not immune from crime, Clayton is just too close to Concord and Pittsburg/Bay Point, (or what ever name they invent next).
My truck got broken into a little over a year ago about 3:00am. The Concord Police caught the guy half a mile away on Harrison St. breaking into someone elses car and found my property on him. That was the 1st time in 10 yrs. living here in Concord that my vehicle has been broken into thankfully.
No I actually lived with my parents just north of Houston but then moved out here and got married. I was born and raised out here in the bay area though.
Why would you think I lived in S.F. or Boston? Is it because of my profile name "Sinn Fein"? Not too many Irish Americans are familiar with Sinn Fein but it sounds like you are. I've met both Adams & McGuinness of Sinn Fein and have been to both of their headquarters in Ireland. In fact, my wife & I just returned from Ireland a few weekends ago for vacation.
Things have gotten worse out here in Concord but I still give a lot of credit to the Concord P.D.. They don't mess around at all. I correspond with the Lt. out here in my district and also the captain whenever I have problems in my neighborhood which isn't too often. The Concord P.D. likes to see involvement from the citizens here in Concord. They will always listen to what you have to say and help you out in any way in making your neighborhood more safe.
It was my Greatgreat Grandparents who were from Ireland. They came here in the 1840's. I do have some family that still lives over there on both sides of my family both they're very distant. I've been in contact with one of them this past couple days going over family history. That sounds like an interesting book! I'll look into that. I'm just finishing up An Irish Eye by Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams. I should be finished with that book in about another week or so.
The car burglars often use walkie-talkies with a sentry alerting the break-in artists of approachers. May I suggest forming neighborhood militias, with nightly patrols, to dissuade roaming thieves.

That sounds like a great idea but actually getting residents in your neighborhood to take part is another thing.
