Are you seeing problems with the word filter? Is it filtering words that should be getting through? Is it failing to filter words it should be catching? Please let us know here. If the filter's [bleep] won't let you adequately describe the problem, let us know with an email to forums@contracostatimes.com.

This is like trying to find a plumbing leak on the Titanic. What the heck is wrong with you? You've screwed up big time. "Is there anything wrong with the word filter??" Holy Smokes!! Are you blind. This is a major mess. The word filter is the least of the problems. Please send the 8th grader who's doing this as a class project home. On second thought, send the guy who still thinks DOS is a superior platform away from the forums. My god you must have the IQ of a small soapdish. "Is there anythig wrong with the word filter???" DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW SCREWED UP THIS IS.
Thank You for your concern......pinhead.

Calm down now Whirlpeas. They fixed the filter so we can simply say "ridiculous" now without going into so much detail. :)

If you remember Roy had a lot of technical trouble when he first came around with the original format. I bet he's struggling with the Avitar part, but once he gets it worked out he might chime in soon.

I'm right here and have this new format down to a science. It doesn't bother me now at all. I'd be glad to host a learning curve symposium for all those that wish to get up to speed with this new format. There are a lot of tricks to be learned to easily navigate the new format.
I don't consider myself a Geek, just able to decipher new stuff, and glad to pass on what I've discovered to my other challenged friends!

Obviously, that ain't going to happen. There are still some features of the olde Board they haven't incorporated into the "NEW" format....

As a newbie, I have two questions on this reinstated feature.
1. To ignore a specific user, do you click on the ignore user button at the bottom of the posting and his/her postings aren't reflected in recent posts as new?
2. If you decide that you no longer want to ignore a specific user is there a way to deselect ignore?
Sorry, I like to know how things work before I get in there and really mess it up.

Tin Roof: Here are your answers
to ignore a specific user, you can either 1) Click the ignore link on any of their posts OR 2) use the link to "My Ignore List" on the left of the forums and enter the user to be ignored by screenname.
To remove someone from the ignore list, simply click the "My ignore list" link on the left and you can remove them from your ignore list there.
Additionally, if you have chosen to ignore someone, you will have the option on each of the hidden posts to view that single post without unignoring the user. So if you generally want to ignore someone, but come across a post they made within a conversation you are curious about you can view that individual post there in the forum using the link the view that post.
Enjoy!

Thanks Jodi.
After I posted that I read the New Forum Features box, which explains it all. I was one of the kids in school who would ask questions first then read the directions. I should have posted a second time but then I would have to acknowledge that not only am I impatient but that I also made a mistake. =^_^=

Thank you, thank you! My list will be growing. I can now skim through posts and not have to scan those I don't want to read anymore.

As a signed in forum user, you will now find an "Ignore" link on every post. You will also have a new link on the left for "My ignore list" where you can manage users that you have chosen to ignore.

I placed this post somewhere else but will place it here where it can be found
Suggestions and solutions to the ‘New’ Forum needed.
I don’t think that this forum will be going away soon so there is only one thing left to do and that is find solutions and make suggestions. One thing that I would recommend is a help file with all the questions and answers laid out. We can only hope that a few suggestions from the users might be implemented in what I feel may be a top down organization. In any case there has to be a system for navigating this soon to be mastered by all of us forum, if suggestions are freely given by those that have learned a trick or two on how to accomplish a given task.
A convenient feature on this new forum places ones most recent reply under the post answered. The drawback is that we have to fill in our own tagline to identify what post we are replying to. Problems may occur when there is a flurry of multiple replies. How would he or she know if the replies are directed at them or chatter between the different repliers since the most recent one is stuck right under the other most recent one which makes the whole thing a bit chaotic.
The answer: Place both respondents names right in the post as was done on the old forum with date and time.
Perhaps they could figure out a way to find who’s replied to you, without having to peruse (cruise) the front board.
Anyone is welcome to add to this short list. Leaving the forum is not the answer. Our problems with this format are small potatoes with what lies ahead in the outside world.

I don't know if it is the filter or the program, but paragraphing has vanished. I first noticed it on Monday (3/3), but today (3/5) it is still happening. I will hit the return key after creating a symbol showing where the paragraph break should be, if that helps you find the problem.--->
I have also tried using the standard html command for paragraph break ("
"), but somehow the "p" disappears from between the less than/greater than signs (as illustrated in this very sentence) rather than execute the paragraph command.
--->Can you fix this? --->Oh, and if I have someone's attention (and there is no evidence, except in this particular thread, that anyone is paying attention, by the way) ... is there someway to restore the option of receiving an email notifying a poster that someone has replied to one of their posts? That was way cool!
--->Thanks

The DYKE MARCH - Anti Male Hate Riot Thread - Disappeared, TWICE...
- With No Warning or Explanation, and I know that the filters allow the term DYKE, because although the Times / BANG refuses to report on the Banning of Males during the annual Dyke March (Led by Dykes on Bikes) - they do post sanitized pictures and stories about Dykes on Bikes...
Just ones that censor the facts about the Separatist / Neo-Exterminationist Misandry (Hatred of Men, Masculinity & Normal Heterosexuality) that defines what it means to be a DYKE.
Sooooo... Ari - Is it the filters - or are the same politically correct gremlins that infested the old system back at it again??
