I am working with AMVETS to start a new post in the Union Cemetery District, which includes Brentwood, Byron, Bethel Island, Knightsen, Oakley, and Discovery Bay with the intent of meeting at the Brentwood Veterans Memorial Building. AMVETS invites all honorably discharged veterans to join. There is no requirement for service during conflict or service overseas, or even service in a particular branch. If you wore the uniform of the Armed Forces of the United States, active or reserve, you are eligible for membership. Initial annual membership is $25 and Life Membership is $150. I do not yet have a charter or bylaws, so you have the opportunity to create the type of veterans organization that you want, as long as it fits in the AMVETS National Charter.
