Instead of examining McCain's patterns of fidelity or selling votes, the self-chosen voices of conservatism flog the NYTimes and rally for McCain who had the audacity to say he NEVER betrayed the public's trust, do you remember the Keating 5? Is Sen. McCain suffering from Memory loss, not uncommon at his age? Or, is it something worse? Did he forget he dumped his first wife for a healthier chick?
I listened carefully to Sen. McCain, my former hero, and I only heard him say that he did not betray the public trust. I heard nothing about not betraying his wife, either one.
To know if he betrayed the public trust, ask the Keating 5. I think the Republicans would do well to pick Gov. Mike Huckebee. But, I think I detect a passion for self-sacrifice, immolation, harakiri, in them, perhaps this is what the GOP will do and save a ton of money. Since Clinton practically conceded the election to Obama, what are we going to do now?
I hope we never have another long presidential contest, it's hard on the candidates, too costly on supporters and ruin TV for so long, we may not watch our favorite programs, ever again, whatever they were. I forgot. Hey, you think I have Campaign Induced Alzheimer's, what they call "CIA"?

After he denied it, Sen. McCain remembered that not only had he met with Special Interest folks but that he had submitted something in their support and had actually testified about it to a Senate Commission. This looks like, sounds like and seems like a memory loss problem, or he needs better staff support. -------------------------------- Long ago I noted: "Systems without feedback atrophy", later : "Systems without proper feedback fail" I now have a new version: "Systems without frequent and proper feedback will self-destroy." By "system" I meant anything from one muscle to one person to a Commission, to General Motors, to California or the United States. My teacher? "The Contra Costa Times". Not TV, which probably carried the same information but TV aims to entertain or keep us from being distracted (or switching channels), they don't want us to think, they have no use for that, theywant our attention -full time.
For example, if someone claims "35 years experience" but has little or nothing to show for it, they best stick to TV Ads or some might ask: "And, what, pray tell, did you accomplish in those 35 years?" Ans.: Paid mortgage, worked for WalMart, promoted NAFTA, send my kids to college, kept in good health, did you do as much? OK, she might add that she failed in her work to promote a Health Plan, but she nevers says "What Went Wrong?" Did she learn anything from that experience? What, not even one culprit? How can that be? But, she would not ask her husband to release all the documents between the White House and her commission "It's up to The President (Bill)" (that was almost cute). Others placed the blame on Special Interests, but not her. Strange, isn't? Without documents, all is speculation.
Three sample applications: 1. For many years, The Contra Costa Times has been telling us about the Sierra Nevada snowmelt and how it happens earlier and earlier, every single year, this is factual data and is independent of any ¨belief¨, or non-belief, on Global Warming.
Our Governor favors doubling the size of Vaqueros Dam, yet nothing happens. Apply Rule: "Plans and Operations without proper feedback, in format and frequency, will produce nothing or junk." Is the problem Special Interests, including farmers, producers of fertilizers and pesticides, want to dump runoff, send water south and elect their allies? In what state do they reside?
2. For years, the Contra Costa Times, and the Grand Jury, have been telling us about the deficit in the health care and cost of retirees and the predicted budget crisis. Yet, nothing happens as we speed up to self-destroy by bankruptcy, like a school district. Apply Rule: "All Plans and Operations Commissions without proper feedback, in format and frequency, will self-destroy." and you might wonder how our elected leaders fail to notice and refuse to deal with the 800 pound gorilla in front of them. In what county do they reside?
3. Every year 500,000 arrive in California and more than half stay in the Southern California. For years we have known the fish in the Delta are dying; experts now admit the obvious: Too much water goes South!
Special interests support the election of all those that have a voice in this decision. What has the county and state leaders done about it? Nothing. Some "hope" we will avert this, others pray, what do you do? In what planet do they reside?
If you apply the Rule: "All Plans and Operations without proper feedback, ...etc." You will see that there is only one option: We need water from outsided the Delta. Rain is not enough, what is left? Israel survives in water from desalination plants, should we ask them? Saudi Arabia is building the largest ones with "foreign" technology. How do I know? I read it in the Contra Costa Times. If no desalination plants now, when?
Will our water shortage be fixed on time? NO! Our elections are based on TV Sound-bites, we do not mean to elect the incompetent, we elect the subservients of Special Interests promoted with costly TV sound-bites. It is OUR fault we send the wrong feedback and we fed our dragons and they are hungry -we are next. Ignore theatrical sobs, screams and sound-bites! The solution is in the voting booth and Public Financing of elections, all of them.<
Do the work: If the problems that you consider most important have been around for more than a term, incumbents have proven inability to solve them. MikeSar
