I have never been one to publicly comment on news matters. However, I feel compelled to comment on the recently proposed educational cuts.
All too often, elected officials tout the importance and value of education in their election campaigns. However, rarely do they follow through with their promises and seem to always make cuts in education to close the budget gap. Stop being hypocrites!
What message are we sending to our children when education is constantly being devalued? It's no wonder schools face difficulty in recruiting and retaining qualified and dedicated teachers. How can we expect our kids to excel in academics when essential programs are eliminated and the emphasis is placed upon attaining high test scores versus ensuring kids are being taught the fundamentals (reading, writing, Arithmetic, science, etc) to succeed.
I propose that public school superintendents and elected officials take a pay cut (5-10%) for the next 4 years in order to preserve the jobs of the most important educators--the teachers!
Stop making education the scapegoat for poor government fiscal management!

Your are right that education is severly devalued these days. What do you expect when a person who is considered one of the dumbest people in the world becomes president. Or when 30 percent of the people listen and agree with talk show hosts who are the most stupid and ignorant people every to have talk shows and spend most of their time berating public schools? The very fact that evolution is even debated these days shows how completely ingnorant most of the population is! (and the same ones believe in aliens!!).
But, cutting admin salaries will only pay for a very small fraction of teachers. Instead we should cut the military by 50%, cut all corporate welfare, and fund schools to the max - including to free college for everyone who wants to go. The US became great because we had the best education of the day. Now it is trash because a few ignoramuses don't want to pay for the best education.
