It seems to me that among some on these forums “Cop Bashing” has become a sport. Now when I hear “the cops ought to be out catching real crooks instead of cruising Contra Loma Boulevard" , what that means to me is “I got a ticket on Contra Loma Boulevard and I’m not happy about it!”. BUT let some car blow you off the road at 60 mph and the first words out of your mouth is “There’s never a cop around when you need one.”

Maybe you all should walk a mile in their shoes! Go on the domestic call where the wife is screaming in your face that her husband struck her, but when you try to put the cuffs on him she realizes that her money man is going to jail so you end up fighting both. And how about the call where the victim is cussing at you because you have not arrested the suspect five minutes after the crime occurred, but when you do try to arrest the suspect his/her family is accusing you of only arresting them because they are_______ (insert any race here). Ever been at a scene where you had to walk around the blood and bodies and not only had to make sense but also a case out of the carnage? How many times have you had to knock on a stranger’s door and tell them that a loved one has died? Oh yeah and you got to be happy all the time too!

So next time you want to bash the cops come see me and I will give you a badge, gun, & flashlight and send you in a building to find the armed suspect who would like to kill you for no other reason than what you do for a living. And no you can’t refuse because it’s your job.

Cops are just normal people doing an abnormal job.

Thats just my opinion, and no I'm not wrong!

P.S. most cops prefer granola bars over doughnuts.

Good points. That's the case with a lot of situations in life. Before people complain about anyone's performance just try for a moment to put yourself in their shoes. How timely that another example of this coincides with the cops waiting tables at Chicago Uno Grill this Thursday. Having worked in restaurants when I was younger from bussing, waiting tables and cooking, it takes pretty atrocious service at a restaurant before I'll ever complain because most of the time I can relate to what's going on.

It cracked me up watching last night's city council meeting. Right after Chief Hyde made his presentation about a 3 year plan for crime control which was well received by all the council members, during their remarks Councilman Davis said that part of his "wish list" was for there to be more traffic enforcement.

And so it goes.

I agree 100%. None of us likes it when we've gotten a ticket for doing something wrong, ie speeding etc however the bottom line is we were doing something wrong. Not everyone could do the job of a Cop, we should appreciate their are those who Choose law enforcement as a career and try to keep the public Safe. Imagine, no one to call the next time you need them.

Good post Cowboy. Most people who have been posting for a while here feel the police are doing a fine job under difficult circumstances. Our frustrations are with the justice and corrections systems that take over after people are busted for crimes. When we see the same people committing violent crimes over and over again it makes you angry and it affects our quality of life more than anything else and makes the cop's job more difficult. We understand that it's not an easy fix either, and it's too bad the police often get blamed for it.

I'm glad you finally dispelled the doughnut rumor. I told Stoney sending doughnuts to the police station was not going to help him get that speed bump he coveted, but he was desperate and wouldn't listen. LOL

I realize that it is a small number of these posters but they are very vocal about their dislike of the police and I felt another side of the issue needed to be posted.

Stoney, send Power Bars and Energy Drinks next time.

Don't know, most of the young "kids" I still have contact with are into the energy drinks, power bars and pushing weights after work.
