Per residents in Oakley & Brentwood there was a large black helicopter flying erratically over residential developements at between 4:30am and 5pm. Here in Brentwood, the helicoptor was flying erratically, just 15-20 ft from rooftops along Grant Street, Fairview and Apricot Way, Shady Willow Lane not using any search lights . There was no activity on the police scanners. We are all wondering why the erratic flying, and secondly why so close to homeowners roofs???? Very dangerous and unsafe for residents...... The same black helicoptor has made at least 10-12 flybys here in Brentwood over the last 3months, always the same flight pattern NE to SW torwards Lone Tree/Laurel Road
Others in the area have reported to our crime watch group, that the flyovers have ocurred for several months now....usually late at night 10pm-12pm, same black helicoptor with no identifying numbers etc...
The only helicoptors we were told are flown, by the CC Sheriffs Department, or CHIPS, but the CA CHIPS fly out of Napa, and only along the highways...The helicoptors always fly in from the Northeast to the Southwest, Anyone in Antioch, Pittsburgh Martinez see any helicoptor activity by the refineries last night. It was not a military helicoptor, but jet black and no identification on the side.
It seems very dangerous to the public to be flying so close to homes in residential developments. The coptor this morning looked like it was ready to crash into several rooftops as reported by several members, just 15ft from the rooftops, swerving. A drunk pilot maybe??? it was 5am in the morning. Anyone work for FAA.
Any more information for our group is appreciated.

Did anyone call BPD, every helicopter I have ever been around makes a lot of noise, and if it is 15 feet off your roof I imagine that it would wake one or two people up.

It is always very big news, when 2-3 law enforcement agencies participate.... Guess you missed all the articles the last few years.....or you do not live in the area.

And when did a county funded task force (CNET), become the DEA, or are you just plain paranoid, and see a conspiracy behind every tree and bush? The last big pot bust out here was started by CHP.
Why exactly are you trying to belittle people with a stupid statement, or is it you just can't think of anything original to say and have to keep saying the same thing over and over. So maybe you and your "crime watch" group should actually try to do something useful instead of making stuff up.
Just to be straight the CHP's helicopter (H30, one of the air unit for Golden Gate Division) probably spends more time assisting local police agencies with searches than anything else, oh and it is not " CA CHIPs" that was a TV show in the 70's.

The biggest tangled web for me is trying to figure out who BBrentwood is responding to. Untangling the Christmas lights was easier. The Times needs to address that flaw because I'm one of those people with a psyche so sensitive and fragile I just assume every insult hurled on this discussion board is meant for me. :(

Not hypocritical at all and I wasn't casting any aspersions on the Seenos, just offering a possible explanation...I've seen their chopper many times, however, I don't think it's black, now that I recall.

the pics hard to make out but i think the Parks Police Officer with the K9 is the same guy who ticketed us a few weeks ago for being in Briones park after curfew. he was a really nice guy who took the time to find the least expensive crime he could charge us with, something i dont think he did for the 2 car loads of kids who discovered the road blocked by us and his cruiser as they were trying to leave the park. i really think he would of just let us go with a warning if the park residents hadnt of called us in.

6 or 7 years ago I was working out at my farm and an air cobra helicopter came zooming in real low, maybe 500 feet circling aroung my place. Scared the crap out of me. Had all the misc ordinance pods, rockets under the sides and everything. After about 5 minutes of circling it landed on a dirt airstrip my rear neighbor has. This happened 5 or 6 times over the summer always late in the day. I found out my neighbor with the airstrip had bought a government surplus air cobra and spent a few years restoring it. How cool is that! I no longer work at the farm, having had to get an actual paying job. (Wives can be so demanding) I havn't seen or heard the helo in a long time. I think the neighbor moved or sold it. This was out between Brentwood, Discovery Bay and Byron. Could be he's back. There's also the Patriots Flying team out at the Byron airport close by the farm. A couple of United pilots who got their hands on 2 Soviet Migs (17's I believe) They fly over fairly regularly although they have switched to smaller Czechoslovakian fighters. Maybe we could enlist the helo and the jets to help local Pd's. Do they make an idiot sensing missil? Heat seeking Peas

I've seen the Patriots air show at the Nascar race at Infineon and they put on a good show. As for the missiles I'm looking for one that homes in on car stereos over a certain decibel.

Residents again have reported in that the Black Helicoptor was in the area again, but away from residential developments and flying at an appropriate altitude, this time at around 5pm in the afternoon. flying from Oakley area...thru Brentwood along Minnesota, by BPD then out torwards Byron, or further????? Hikers out at Contra Loma and Mt. Diablo have also reported seeing a black helicoptor at very low altitudes as if following hikers. Very strange indeed.

Definitely weird circumstances. You have to wonder why everyone is so tight-lipped about it? I wonder if whoever is operating that helicopter has any idea how many people are freaked out about this? The fact that they altered their altitude might suggest they are monitoring this thread too and that's a scary thought. I wouldn't be surprised if it disappears altogether now that they know we are on to them.
I remember a similar situation about a year ago when there was a sharped dress man in sunglasses standing in that parking lot of the building at the corner of Buchanan Road and Railroad Avenue. He would just stand there for hours looking out over traffic and somebody started a thread about it. I go by that corner a lot and I saw him too. We never did figure out what he was up to, but oddly enough as soon as we starting talking about him and as soon as the word got out that he was being watched too, he disappeared!
Very strange indeed.

The erratic black helicopter might be one of things that may never be explained. You have to keep an open mind because what often happens is you try to make the unexplained circumstances fit your pre-conceived idea of what it is.
I kept hearing this noise in our bathroom and I was so sure I knew what it was because I had heard it before. I didn't bother telling my wife about it because I was so sure it was a plumbing thing she couldn't have helped with. I kept hearing this intermittent "Pssssssst" sound and I recognized it as a slow toilet leak in the tank that was causing the toilet to re-fill. There was no water on the floor so I figured it was a bad flapper. I went to the store to buy a new top of the line Korky brand flapper, but after installing it, I kept hearing the sound. I went back to the hardware store and told the guy I think he sold me a quirky Korky, and he let me exchange it.
After installing the flapper again and still hearing the sound, I finally told me wife how perplexed I was and I was going to hire a plumber. My wife said, "Oh that's our new Air-Wick automatic air freshener. You should have been here when our daughter heard it go "Pssst" for the first time and she ran out of the bathroom scared!"
See, if I wasn't so locked-in and thinking I knew exactly what it was, I might have mentioned it to my wife and figured it out before wasting two trips to the hardware store and the price of the Korky flapper.
