Well maybe I'm naive, but who woulda known they would spontaneously combust!! How odd is that?? Good to know though- I could have guessed that keeping oily rags lying around was probably not a good idea in the first place, but I would never have guessed they'd just catch fire! Wonder if that would happen to the fence? Ooohh watch out! ;-)

Yeah, it's hard to fathom how that can happen and who hasn't finished staining or oiling something and thrown their rags in a pile somewhere because the clean-up sucks. But, the fire investigators said it, so it must be true.

I have a friend that was a Fire Investigator for Con-Fire and according to him that is more common than one would think. As the oil based product dries it makes heat and if you have a pile of them the heat builds to the point that the rags combust.

I remember being taught that in shop class at AHS. If you do have oily rags, it is best to store them in a metal container with a secure metal lid. ___________________________________________________________ A.V.J.S. --"Don't confuse kindness with weakness."

Afirm... cuts out the oxygen needed for combustion.

P.S. what year AHS?

1989. I was asked to leave before the '90 school year started and I finished my schooling at Live Oak. Turned out to be the best thing when it came to my schooling. ___________________________________________________________ A.V.J.S. --"Don't confuse kindness with weakness."

You know I know several people that had problems in the main stream system but when they went to an alternative program they showed their true ability. Both my step daughter and Step grand daughter were that way. Fyi I was AHS class of '73.

That was the year I was born. I know we don't always see eye to eye but I would like to say thank you for helping on the case with "Ricky." ___________________________________________________________ A.V.J.S. --"Don't confuse kindness with weakness."
