No offense, but Tasers have a limilted range and were developed to overcome physical resistance. Are you going to volunteer to grab a taser, walk out in the open within short range of a guy holding a gun and attempt to hit him with the taser before he shoots you dead? Not me brother! Brandishing a gun at the police is a show of deadly force and if he refuses to put it down it can be met with deadly force. He delt the cards, the police only played the hand they were given.

That's just my opinion, but I could be Wrong.

Explain...Yes I am aware of "suicide by cop" but are you saying that the police are just waiting for the chance to shoot someone?

That's just my opinion, but I could be Wrong.

How far does a taser reach? And what were the officers supposed to do? Get close enough to put themselves in harms way in order to tase someone who has a gun? I don't think so. I wouldn't get that close to someone with a gun, and I don't think anyone else on this forum would either. The guy is still alive, so obviously the cops didn't shoot with the intent of killing him. You know, the police are there for the safety of the public. If there's someone sitting there with a gun and refusing to put it down, what are they supposed to do? Wait until he shoots at an innocent bystander, or the cops themselves? Please! What a thankless job they have. Cops put themselves in harms way on a daily basis in order to keep us all safe. There's no telling what that guy was thinking, or what he was capable of, and to expect the cops to put themselves in the path of his bullet just so they can play nice and taser him is completely ridiculous. No one on this forum would get close enough to use a taser. I don't think we should expect the police to do that either. I agree with Cowboy. Deadly force can and will be met with deadly force, bottom line.

Tasers reach a max of 21-25 feet with normal cartridges.
