In SF Chronicle today a real eye opener regarding escalating crimes in the Bay Area. The City of Oakland will now provide armed security guards at local shopping areas after an onslaught of strong armed robberies at restaurants and businesses. The citizens so fed up they have taken things into their own hands and there have now been 3 cases where individuals being robbed shot the assailants.

Per the article in todays SF Chron....a well know community activist, and repeated crime victim now running for City Council in Oakland has urged citizens and business owners to arm themselves as the City is not able to control or lower the escalating violent crimes that are ocurring in areas that were previously safe en[bleep]es in Oakland....Lake Merrit, Rockridge, Temescal. The citizens are fed up and are now fighting back no longer waiting hours for a police car to arrive....

Is this a precursor of things to come?? As everyone knows criminals travel around from Richmond, to Oakland, to Antioch, to Concord and every other citie for that matter!!. There have already been strong armed robberies of teens on the way to school and adults shopping here in the East County, attempted car jackings and Bank robberies......
