49th overall? Guess he's not as good as he thought. Shoulda stuck around for the Heisman.

It was reminiscent of Aaron Rogers' slide down the draft board. Hopefully this registers with all of the Bears that they're probably better off staying in school and playing for that Rose Bowl that should be coming any day now ..........

Another year for Jackson would have helped his draft situation but I'm not sure it would have helped the Bear's esprit de corps. Places like SC where there's 3 guys ready to step in, the ego stuff gets quelled. At Cal where 1/2 of it's about heart, a dent in the morale hurts. Great player no doubt but if you read the spring reports, there's some subtle hints related to lack of team players last year. Oh well, I hope he kicks butt in the NFL and busts a bunch of returns for TDs. He is amazing that way.

...to past Bear great Russell White. He had an astounding junior year. His draft status was very good but he listened to the school and the fans and stayed. He had a mediocre season and didn't hang in the pros. The signing bonus would have been sweet after the junior year. Plus...school is important but you can always go back.
