Twice in the past month, I went to the Cal High girls lacrosse games against Granada High of Livermore and was very upset at the way a few parents (fathers or men mostly) screamed at their darling girls to beat the crap or break an ankle of a Granada player. Granada parents just sat there, upset and couldn't beleive it that parents of high school girls are doing this. Never sis I hear a Granada parent tell on of there people to trip one of Cal's players and take them out of the game. Cal's parents are VERY RUDE and mean. I couldn't be happier that the JV game ended up in a tie. I was able to see and laugh at the man from Cal High with the white visor that was being the main [bleep]. I shall be calling Cal's principle and the San Ramon Valley school district on Monday and letting them know that parents behaviors like this are not acceptlable.

The Principal may be buzy dealing with the aftermath of a visiting College Park player (boys volleyball) having a rock thrown thru his car window upon exiting the campus. Apparently a sour grapes motivation... after CAL High was routed. But no "proof"

When I sign my kids up for sports, I'm usually required to sign a parent behavior agreement.  As you can imagine it outlines acceptable parent behavior, including information about good/bad sportsmanship.  If a parent violates the agreement, the child is subject to involuntary withdrawal by the league.  IMO, this is a superb idea, and should be implemented at all levels of play in all sports. These parents should know that they risk their child's participation in the desired sport for their inappropriate displays. If Cal High doesn't already do this, perhaps they should?

and you're right. it's a shame how some parents handle them self. both of my girls are playing soccer and basketball, and the instruction for parents during the sign ups getting longer and longer because they are the ones out of control. i just wonder what they expect from their kids, if they can't be roll models in the first place.

Forget about getting any help from the principal he's just as bad. He has been heard bad mouthing other school's football teams. He acts like a child. Everytime we play them in football we know that the Cal players on the field play dirty as well. We've seen one player jump on an opposing players leg while he was down after the whistle had blown. Caused him a torn ACL. We just hate it when we have to go to California high to watch any sport.

No matter what high school you go to, you are going to get rude parents. California High School parents are some of the best parents you can ever meet. They volunteer, they help coach and through hard times they are supporting the high school tremendously.Even though some parents can get a little out of hand there is no need to go to the district, all you need to do is send an email and the administration will get on top of it. Now if you go to Granada High School on the other hand you will also see parents that are rude, disturbing and not fun to be around, but you will also see parents that don't care and just love to be at the games. California High Schools is one of the best high schools in the bay area and, I cant wait until the football team destroys Granada High School at Granada high school because I love it when they do. The administration at California High School is also amazing they will help you with anything. Remember when you enter San Ramon in any sport you are entering GRIZZLY NATION !!!

I agree that for the most part, you are just as likely to see parents behaving badly at one school as any other. And I know that parents who volunteer at CHS are well intentioned and deserving of praise for going the extra mile. That said, often times those same well meaning adults can let circumstances get the best of them. Some of the worst behavior I've ever seen from parents come from those devoting the most time to a school. Perhaps BECAUSE they have invested so much time they lose their perspective. I'm not saying that this was the case at CHS because I wasn't there to observe the behavior. But I certainly have seen it at other schools over the years. Now, your comments about Granada HS are frankly, uncalled for. Don't spew nonsense about destroying another HS. If you play them and beat them, within the rules, just say good job and we'll meet again next year. Show a little class. I find it rather ironic that Granada is the school in question here. Coach Sanchez and almost ALL of his staff are Granada HS graduates. While I'm certain they want to win each and every one of their games, I somehow doubt that it's their intention to "destroy" a team representing the HS from which they all graduated. It's great to support your school or your teams. But tearing down other schools using that as your justification; it's just classless and only gives opposing schools the impression that your behavior is exactly that which you are claiming doesn't exist at CHS. Rise above it.

I think NMX mentioned Granada because that is where the original poster of this thread is from. It is not like Granada is even a rival of Cal High in sports, other than they are in the same league. It looked like the kid was trying to defend the honor of his school. This whloe thread is kind of ridiculous, as I agree with EPC that this type of over the top behavior happens at just about every school, as well as youth sports.
