US Marshalls should arrest the school superintendent for violating US law. He does NOT have the RIGHT to say ""we will NOT ALLOW any child to be taken away from the school"". Does this hypocrite accept any federal $ $...maybe he sould return the money if he doesn't want to follow our laws!!. He's assisting in a federal CRIME ! He should be handing an address list ot ICE. Our schools are in financial difficulty BECAUSE of OVERCROWDING by ILLEGALS. To the supertendent & the IlLLEGALS, those schools belong to us property taxpayers. You can't pick & choose the laws you agree with. I want to stop y $ to county hospitals & schools....they won't let me. What arragance you have...no wonder crime & street protests when you demonstrate...people can ignore laws as they wish !! DIsgusting.

We have nothing to fear but (irrational) fear itself.

But being shot by an illegal.

Are you the only liberal who has the guts to defend anti-American --pro immigrant policies.

The only children who are afraid are the illegal children, who should not be in an American school in any case.

Hey journalism 101 student....WHY are they afraid? Oh I know, because they KNOW what they're doing is ILLEGAL (sponging off the US taxpaying schmucks).

I say round them up by the van load and start on Monument Boulevard in Concord, where they breed illiterate gangsters that want to rob and kill and rape and drug you. Then hit every car wash between here and Fremont and while working your way back up to Concord, hit every Mexican restaurant along the way. That'll take care of at least 300,000 of them. Do you get it now? Thank you ICE. I hope you send your bill for your hard work to the scumbags who own those restaurants. That's my opinion, and it is the opinion of about 200,000,000 other fed-up taxpayers.

Look Im all for it. If you are not a US citizen get out of here. It don't matter if you are Mexican, Irish, Asian, Hindu, African, etc. If you are not here legally then its time to get the deportation boot outta here. Stop all the crying of breaking up families and blah blah blah. If people who were illegal are so worried about all that then get in line and do what it takes to become legal. Real talk. Look at all the people in front of the Home Depots. I know all them ain't legal. I mean its a cold world but you have to follow the rules. This ain't the land of Cannon. You have to pay to be in the U.S. of A. If you don't want to pay and do what it takes get the hell on outta here. Its not nice but its real. I support ICE 100%.

Ahh to hell with Dellums and anyone else who stands in the way of the feds doing thier jobs to enforce immigration law like the majority of law abiding Americans expect. To hell with all these damn sanctuary cities that stand in defiance of the law that that most people expect to be obeyed and adhered to.

Oakland school district's police force interim chief ARTURO MICHEL stated, "There won't be any (immigration) agents, I can promise you that."

Oh really? Doesn't he realize that federal laws trumpt ALL state, county and municipality laws. Let's see what the feds will do if Michel steps in and orders them to leave. He will be one unhappy camper, I can promise him that.

I hope ICE continues it's job of flushing out as many illegals as they can. One way to do it is to get their kids. This way, they will come out of the woodwork. They KNOW they are breaking our laws. Excuses that our laws are not clear is simply nonsense. If it were legal for them to come here, they would simply waltz in through the proper border entries.

I am absolutely disgusted by some of the posts on this thread.

Where is the empathy? Do we not remember that we ALL at some point were immigrants? (Fortunately, many of our ancestors had a much easier time gaining citizenship...and that we personally didn't have to fight through the system for citizenship).

Yeah, some of these immigrants may be "illegal" but that doesn't mean that they are blood sucking leeches. They are people. And many of them are people that work hard and work to support our economy. In reality, we need to remember that our lives might not be as comfortable without the hard work of undocumented workers.

Further (and my real point) is that ICE should have NO RIGHT to invade our schools or terrorize our students. I work at an East Bay school and my students were petrified today because ICE was down the street waiting for them. Unreal. THIS should NEVER happen. NO student should be afraid to go to school. NEVER.

The tactics that ICE uses are heartless. They are bully-tactics and, quite honestly, I am ashamed.

Ms_E, you are really scarey. As a teacher you should be educated enough to understand the term 'immigrant' as someone who goes through a legal process to assimilate into another country, and 'illegal alien' as defined in Federal Law. Everything we need to know we learned in kindergarten - "don't take things from others without asking", "wait your turn for something you want", "fix it yourself if you can". Then brain-washed politically correct 'teachers' like you come along and add ..."but only if it doesn't hurt your feelings - after all, you are a person too". I recommend you get off your hypocritical high horse, and either quit your job and take your empathy south of the border where you can share your feelings (and not much else) with the third world, then head to Africa, then to China. Afterall, there are BILLIONS of people who would take advantage of the benefits of our society if they could only cross our borders. So why should you ONLY feel empathy for the squatters who are here now?

'Course, if you are successful in bringing another 500M people 'looking for a better life' across our border in your lifetime from the third world, do you really expect to have all the nice things and pleasant surroundings you enjoy today?

And why are you blaming ICE? It's the illegal alien parents who are putting their children in harm's way. Those are the heartless, cruel people bringing up children in an artificial environment knowing there's a probability they will be sent back to their country of origin and have to face conditions there. Why aren't you telling them to go home and fix their own country?!!! You know, like we learned in kindergarten ...

Me get off my high-horse?? Sure, as soon as you climb down from yours!

You sound like a belligerent, xenophobic [bleep]. Do you know what your life would be like without the hard work of all the undocumented workers in the state? Where do you think your fruits and veggies come from? Who cleans the thousands of dirty houses in this city? Who washed the dishes when you go out to eat?? Simply put, the quality of YOUR life would not be so high if it were not for those workers. (Well, maybe you could spend your days out in the fields picking our fresh produce. You should try that for a few months and then tell me that we should send them all back.)

I don't teach kindergarten; I teach high school. I am not brainwashed; I am empathetic to the plight of my friends and students.

If immigrants are willing to come here and work, pay taxes and help improve this nation then I am all for letting them in and granting amnesty. No question. You swear like all the problems that this nation faces are because of illegal immigrants! GET REAL! Crime was here long before, sweetpea.

And NO it is not the parents who are heartless. How dare you say that. These parents come to improve the quality of life for their children because making a comfortable life in Mexico was close to impossible. It is simply out of love that these parents risk so much.

I think that we must have gone to different Kindergartens. In mine, I learned that we should love and care for our neighbors (no ifs, ands or buts). Later in life, I learned how my people got to where they are today: by massacring millions of Native Americans and taking their land. So why now do we have the right to say it is ours and who can live here or not??

Ms E, just because you enjoy the idea of illegals contributing to the economy doesnt make the act of them being here acceptable when the law was broken. ICE has every right under the law to deport those illegals who disregarded our immigration laws to be here, and just because most havent been caught does not mean they can entitle themselves to tax payer services and education, drivers licenses, rentals and jobs that are usually attained with the use of a stolen i.d. just like mine which was used 4 times by illegals. If that is acceptable to you then your as seditious as the politicians who sell their souls to the Devil on this issue. You are a disgust to the majority of Americans who wholeheartedly disagree with you on this issue.

I am sorry, but I just don't think that the ends always justifies the means. Do you really think that it is right for ICE to go after children to get to their parents?!

Really?!

P.S: You should probably keep a better hold on the ID of yours!

Again, you're in the minority on this issue. As for my social security i.d., it was sold 4 times over a period of 13 years to 3 hispanic men and a hispanic woman in order to obtain jobs. People have ways of getting to someones number. Oh, but as long as they dont hurt me any other way, they should be allowed to live the American dream like anyone else here illegaly, would you agree. BS.

Its the fault of the damn parents for putting these kids in difficult situations. These people know full well the consequences of coming here illegaly, and they should have common sense enough to know that they are just going to make things harder for the kids if they drag them along. Those on the wrong side of the illegal argument are now going to use the kids as a sort of ammo to decry the so called evils of ICE doing its job to enforce the law. I regret that my tax dollars that I need to support my family is going to pay your salary and to provide a free education for illegals in all levels of education. BASTA! At least you should feel happy that they get treated well in our custody before deportation unlike the ones who are unfortunate to end up at the end of a stick or the gun barrel of Mexico's border enforcers.

I don't regret being the minority on this issue (at least on this here post). Every great revolution started with a single voice of dissent. It takes only one person to stand up for a worthy cause to create great change.

I am sorry that you are so jaded and have such a negative view of ALL illegal immigrants based on a horrible thing that a FEW did. Not all illegal immigrants steal identities and commit atrocious crimes. Many of them are honest, hard working people applying for citizenship (a long and complicated process).

How do you feel about caucasians? Some of them run around in white sheets and set crosses on fire; some of them have lynched men and women because of their skin color. Do you hate ALL white people based on the actions of a FEW?

I wont even bring up Muslins and their involvement in 911 or the Chinese and their oppression of Tibet. Gheez.... you could spend your whole life hating half the world!!

Another thing..... You are vilifying the parents for something in which you have no idea about; you have never lived in their shoes. They know the dangers of coming to this country illegally; they are not stupid. But, for many of them, the benefits (a better, safer life) outweigh the dangers. Plus, when their children are born here, the child is granted amnesty and cannot be deported. The child is now entitled to an education, health care, financial aid for college, etc. and has the opportunity to become a upstanding citizen whose tax dollars will pay into your social security and medical when you become too old to work.

I am sorry that you feel that my meager teacher's salary is not worthy of your tax dollars. But I will never apologize for working hard to ensure that ALL my students, legal or not, are given a quality education.

So you seem to be saying that we should forsake our values because these squatters are too lazy, too timid to correct the problems in their countries of origins? We honor our forefathers because they made sacrifices to allow us to hold our values dear. And now you want me to pay for your cheating, unpatriotic, unreliable, untrustworthy illegal alien invaders to make you feel good about yourself?

Plus, when their children are born here, the child is granted amnesty and cannot be deported.

Wrong again. What you are speaking about is the usurpative policy by the Executive Branch to redefine the citizen definition found in the 14th Amendment. When you read the statements by the authors of the Amendment, you see that it was NOT intended to apply to births of children of citizens of other countries who ...'are subject to a foreign jurisdiction'. ref: http://federalistblog.us/2007/09/revisiting_subject_to_the_jurisdiction....

But as an instructor you seem devoid of critical analysis skills, so may I suggest a class project? Follow this link regarding immigration and gumballs, show it to your class, and let them discuss it (as you seem to have nothing but biased opinion and fuzzy warm feelings.)
