The impact on the City of Antioch which is the only city with pre-1914 Water Rights under the scenario in this article by reporter Mike Taugher would be significant.

Antioch's water intake is on the San Joaquin River near Fulton Shipyard; and reduce fresh water flows from the Delta would greatly increase the salinity of the water to over 100,000 of our residents.

The concept of a peripheral canal to divert fresh water to the pumps in Tracy is a non-starter.

The article also didn't mention the "deal" to relocate the CCWD water intake further to the east to provide their customers with fresher water in order to get CCWD's acceptance of a peripheral canal.

CCWD would love Antioch to have saltier water at its intake so that Antioch would be forced to purchase our water from CCWD at a price 4 to 5 times higher than what it currently costs Antioch.
