Once again, a spokesperson for the corrupt Local 1 attempted to stake out the position that, if the parcel tax fails, Local 1 members should not share in suffering because they are not mentioned in the wording of the measure. Board members Brown and Miles have expressed too much deference to Local 1's views, no doubt reaching for the corrupt union's campaign funding. Let there be no doubt that the education of the WCCUSD students mean nothing to the corrupt Local 1 union. As stated by a member of that union at the previous board meeting, don't expect the union members to do anything extra to help the students or the teachers if cuts are made in any personal in the district. They feel that "it's not their problem." Al, a regular speaker at the board meetings, said it well. Do not make the mistake of asking the tax payers for support if no cuts are made in the bloated and ineffective Local 1 dead weight employee roles.

Before we decide to renew the current parcel tax, why don't we vote for a student user fee. A fee of about $600 per student to be paid by the parents would do wonders for the schools. This way the parents could have everything they want from the schools. Residents should only be responsible for the school basics. Parents can pay the rest. Coastal Eddy

Your $600 student user fee idea is an excellent one. It is also very equitable. Unfortunately, the people that have more than one student would whine about the cost, so the burden will remain on the “rich land barons” who own small houses in the rough neighborhoods of West Contra Costa County. It seems that the “poor” people always manage to rent bigger houses in the better neighborhoods, thereby avoiding paying property taxes. I am voting NO on any parcel tax for WCCUSD and encourage other property owners to do the same.
