While it is true that at some point you have to compromise between cost and smaller class size, kids always learn more and behave better in smaller classes. The 16 people who voted "not important" have obviously never taught in a classroom. They may have never learned in a classroom. They are probably just rabid rightwing anti-education nuts who are threatened by knowledge, logic, reason, and facts. On the other hand, Limbaugh, Hannity, FoxNews, and NewsMax are comforting to them. Like a favorite teddy bear and a warm cup of cocoa.

Although I have not taught in a classroom, todays teachers have a teachers assistance to provide help with the students. When I attended school, class sizes were 35 to 40 students in a class.  We all learned and we all behaved in classes. Students that did not behave in classes were sent to the Principal's office and the parents had to attend class for a week with their child. Our teacher's were respected and had control over the class. They also made the class subject interesting and that made a difference in the student behavior in class. Today my Grandchildren often comment on school is boring. I do not agree that " the smaller class size is the reason that kids learn more or behave better". I believe the teacher and how the teacher "teaches and controls their classroom" makes kids learn more and behave better.

Just 35 or 40 kids in a classroom? When I started school, there were 50 kids in the classroom! And the sister who taught us would haul anybody who talked out of turn into a sideroom, pull down their pants, and whack his (or rarely her) bare bottom with a ruler. The rest of us would make funny faces and gestures at each slap of the ruler. But woe to anyone who was caught doing this as the nun suddenly reappeared in the classroom- because they would be next!

I think that we should follow best practices recommended by the Academic Sector. Ask the Teachers and the Teachers' Teachers (so to speak)
