So Duchscherer says he has depression. Hmm. I guess I would find a reason not to come back this year too. Why pitch for this sorry [bleep] team when you are about to be a free agent at the end of the year. It's curious how they describe his depression as "very treatable".

OK went to the A's-Yankee game last night (8/19), bottom of the eighth inning and the A's are behind 3-2. Landon "Crazy Legs" Powell leads off the inning and gets on base with no outs. Does Geren insert a pinch runner?

IMHO,  the best journalism in the Times is in the Sports page.   Monte Poole is red hot. Today's article on El Cerrito's Pumpsie Green breaking into the majors w/ Boston was a keeper.  (12 years after Jackie Robinson !),  That's your nostagiia piece.

Yes, I'm tired of all the changes to the A's line up over the years.  Just when I get used to a new young player and enjoy watching him play he's gone.  But I still watch and still love the game.  There is nothing out there like baseball.

I have been a life long A's fan, when I first heard that the A's were sold to a banking group; I said "this team is going to hold on to its money" Now it's 2009, and we have a owner by the name of Wolf; he wanted to build a new stadum Freemont. But that was shot down, now he wants to move try to the team to San jose. I am going to tell you something, I was born an raised in Oakland, I watched Ricky Henderson steal his 120 bases; I was around when the A's and the Giants played the First world seres together. I am tired of hering Rumors about the Oakalnd A's goinng to San Jose.

FYI TO ALL A'S FANS:  If you have an other carrier other than Comcast, your HD days of A's baseball are not going to happen anytime soon.

With the A's move to CSN (NOT CSN Bay area as the Giants are) only standard definition broadcasts are being supported.  Giants fans by contrast will get all their HD games shown to fans no matter what their service, AT&T, Dish, DirecTV etc....

A's fans not giving up fight for Fremont stadium

I sort of resent your headline saying that A's fans fight for Fremont ballpark site. What it should say it Fremont boosters continue the fight for a site in their city. I'm pretty sure the majority of the A's fans are from the East Bay , north of Fremont, and Contra Costa County. The only Fremont site that makes any sense is the Warm Springs site near BART. That they let a few hundred crybabies run the show is s symptom of how the pubic participation process has run amuck.

I agree with your analysis completely. I hate the Coliseum but we are stuck with it for now. There are some things that could be done to make the baseball experience better: rehab the bathrooms, more interesting and healthier food choices (although the BBQ is awesome!), spiff up the parking lot with some trees, wifi connectivity thoughout the stadium, etc. That would improve the whole experience and make the Coliseum more enjoyable.
