In yet another collosal meltdown, the San Francisco Giants blew a one run lead in the bottom of the ninth, and were swept by the lowely San Diego Padres at Petco Park.

This loss was particularly painful, as the Giants wasted their third quality start in a row, this time a seven inning gem by Tim Lincecum.

With thier chance to avoid the embarassing sweep in hand, the Giants turned to their closer Brian Wilson, who has been a shadow of his former self lately.  In fact, he entered the contest with a two game losing streak.

Bruce Bochy did everything he could to lose it for the San Francisco Giants last night.  The Giants  would not be denied however, pulling out a 5-4 nail-biter in the opening game of their rivalry series with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Sure, I realize that a win is a win, but lets dissect a few of Bochy's curious calls last night.

As I watched the curtain fall in today's series finale between the San Francisco Giants and the San Diego Padres, I tried to find a silver lining to the Giants horrible performance.  Sure, they were swept in convincing fashion by the team many picked to bring up the rear in the National League West.  True, they were outscored by the Padres 19 to 7 for the series.  And yes, the Giants did yield 14 walks compared to just 3 for San Diego.  But amid the gloom cast upon the team by such a poor showing, surely there must be some positive lesson to be learned...  right?
