I believe the census bureau had this to say, "Antioch's most abundant natural resource is stupidity, their main export is gang members. A varity of imports include: your bike, your TV, your cars, and your firearms."
Our main export? We didn't have these problems until Oakland and Richmond exported their mentality, gang members and thugs to Antioch. And the only import that fits are "your firearms."
And no, these are not the same idiots as the shooting. Those three are already in jail. Two were arraigned yesterday.
Yes. We moved here 15 years ago from Walnut Creek for the affordable housing. Our neighborhood was very diverse and a wonderful place. In fact, our current neighborhood is very diverse and still pretty wonderful. The homes are large and when financing was so easy to get, they sold like hotcakes. Sometimes two families going together to purchase.
You could tell who came from the inner city and who from the suburbs. The young kids from inner cities were harder. More defiant. They'd stare down cars as you drove past them. Most of them adjusted to suburban life really well. I'm sure that's exactly what their parents were hoping for when they moved here. However, some did not. It's actually a tiny percentage of the population that is commiting these crimes. Until recently, the crime was mostly concentrated in one particular neighborhood - the Sycamore area where this Pizza Guys is located.
I am encouraged that the perpetrators of Matt's murder and these robberies are being apprehended so quickly. I hope APD can keep it up so word gets out it doesn't pay to commit crimes in Antioch. It's been a great place to live and I hope we can get back to that quickly.
It seems to go in waves, with summers having higher crime rates. That's normal most places. It's the violence of the more recent crimes that are worrisome. Right now, things are definitely getting worse.
I try to keep myself on an even keel and see the big picture. Maybe I'm trying to fool myself, but I'd hate to be scared out of my beautiful home. Antioch has so much going for it, I hate that this small minority is ruining the American Dream for the rest of us.
Hopefully these punks rot in prison...Oh woops that would mean they will have time to write more hip hop songs about raping our white girls and stealing our hard earned property so they can chill and make babies...Enough is enough....When will the city close doors and start eliminating section 8 housing...Maybe when the police officers, teachers and public workers start refusing to work here......Get a clue county-city-whoever
Yeah, that promotes a realistic pro-active way to clean up our crime. So much for your screenname!
Rape and property crime haven't been the issues. It's gun violence.
Sometimes it's embarassing to say I live in Antioch. Usually it's because of our crime reputation. But the lynch mob mentality I've been reading on these forums this week is even more embarassing.
when they are jumping you Ill be sure not to help because I wouldnt want them to think that we have power in numbers..plz dont take that the wrong way. If we all take a stand with the police department we might be able to stop this.
wahoo.. do you just judge or do you come up with any ideas on your own..
all crimes are the issue.. gun violence too. when murders are up i can bet you that personal theft is up, robberies are up, etc..
it should be embarrasing for you, with all the shootings lately it cant be good for the schools, housing prices, or trying to lure people for that commute..
hope you do something besides criticize..
people are angry because kids are dying, the area is losing its appeal, its not safe for kids at night.
Glad you noticed is wasn't to you. Believe me, I'm beyond angry. My son was jumped when he was in middle school. Four white boys walking in a nice neighborhood. Jumped by 3 black guys, kicked, hit, cell phones and iPods stolen. Know what really pisses me off? I found out several years later they knew who one of the guys was but were too afraid of retribution to tell the officers when we parents called the police out. How messed up is that?
thats big in antioch, brentwood.. oakley.. kids intimidating other kids.. stealing their stuff.. kids they go to school with.. they will set each other up in a second. its bad.

What is going on here? Is this normal for Antioch? Are these the same thugs that shot a guy a few days ago?

It is hard to tell from the outside if things are getting better or worse. I hope for the sake of Antioch things get better.

The two Security Guards who subdued this criminal punk should be given medals by the Antioch Police Department!
Fantastic job, guys! My hat is off to you for your courage to do the right thing!

It"s about time these Security Guards did something to earn what we pay them for besides sit in the club house and watch television.
