Gil Brandt had an article a few months back on guys to watch out for in 2009.  Given how everybody feels about Javon Walker at this point, why not check out who's available for a critical need for the 2009 season?  Personally, I'd go with Brian Robiskie of Ohio State.  Nice size and production. Wide Receivers Demetrius Byrd, LSU (6-1 ½, 195): A former JC transfer who has outstanding speed (4.42) for his size. Greg Carr, Florida State (6-5, 215): Had 45 catches for 795 yards (18.6 avg) last season. Of his 25 career TD catches, 20 have been from 30 yards or more. Jarrett Dillard, Rice (5-10, 187): Caught 170 passes with 35 TDs over last two seasons; has 2 or more catches in 36 consecutive games. Brandon Gibson, Washington State (6-0, 200): Had 67 catches for 1,180 yards and 9 TDs in 2007; also returns kicks. Juaquin Iglesias, Oklahoma (5-11 ½, 201): Played as a true freshman in 2005 and was Sooners' leading receiver last season. Also averaged 28.5 yards per kickoff return in '07. Aaron Kelly, Clemson (6-4, 185): Has caught 165 passes over the past three seasons; had 11 TD catches in 2007. Kenny McKinley, South Carolina (5-11 ½, 180): Started in 2005 as a true freshman; had 77 receptions and 9 TDs in 2007. Brian Robiskie, Ohio State (6-2, 193): Son of former NFL player and current coach Terry Robiskie; had 55 catches for 935 yards and 11 TDs last season. Tiquan Underwood, Rutgers (6-1, 185): Had 65 catches for 1,100 yards and 7 TDs in 2007; already ranks second all-time in receiving yards at Rutgers. Derrick Williams, Penn State (5-11 ½, 200): Has speed, athleticism and ability at the receiver spot; also returns kicks.

Whats going on man? I totally agree with you. Depending on where we draft and how our OL holds up I think WR is where we go in the first round. One guy you didn't mention was Michael Crabtree out of Texas Tech after all he is already a Raider there. The kid can catch and he has size being 6-3 208lbs. I would love to see this guy in the Silver & Black next year. That is if he decides to make himself eligible.

I don't see his conference much where I live so I'll find to way to check him out.  I've written off Walker as still a Donkey at heart.  You're right, WR should be the next logical choice.  Got the franchise QB, RB and TE.  The chemistry should be jelling come 2009.

Damn, already talking about the '09 draft. This definitely is the slowest time of the year in the pro football world. I wish camp would start up already. I'll hold my suggestions for next year's draft until after the season. Who knows, maybe one or two of the youngsters will show up this year under the tutelage of Lofton. Highly unlikely, I know, but I can dream can't I.

but I try to make it as relevant as possible.  You be the judge.  Anyway, you're right about two or more of the new guys needing to step it up but Lofton will do a better job than that clown last year; there was a reason for replacing him.  The most intriguing one is that UDFA from Washington, Marcel Reece.  6'0", 230 pounds and can run like a deer?  Definite mismatch potential.  Another one I'm rooting for is Buchanon.  He had a good preseason when Shell was the coach and was fearless across the middle.

Yea I know he is an underclassman I just don't know if he is a Junior or a Sophomore. I'm pretty sure he is a  Junior though.  He led the NCAA in receptions and has quite a few TDs. Just looked up his stat line: 134 Receptions, 1962 Yards, 22 TDs. They run a pass happy offense there, but I don't see how it would hurt having a guy that can catch and run with his size. We don't really need a burner just someone that can go over the middle and catch the ball in traffic. Being listed at 6-3 208 sounds pretty good to me even if his 40 time were to be in the lower 4.5s. I still think that he would run it in a 4.4 though.

hey man, what's up?  sorry to hear you were literally down for the count for the past week.  i definitely know what that's like.  especially the strength and energy thing.  when it comes to working out, losing a weak pretty much sucks.  it's amazing how one week away can really drop a person down a notch.  seems like it takes almost a month to get back to the same level you were the last time you worked out.  so in effect, the week away basically erases the progress a person has made over the last month.  yeah, i hear ya, it sucks. okay so here is my first bold prediction for the upcoming season.......... we'll win more games this season than we did the past 2 seasons combined!  of course, keep in mind that wouldn't even guarantee us a winning season or being a playoff team.  in all seriousness though, i really do expect us to be better across the board this season. flashback for the day.........everyone talks about the "tuck rule" being the pivotal play in the snow bowl game vs. NE.  what no one mentions, however, is a play before that.  we had the ball, 3rd & short, with an opportunity to keep the chains moving and keep the clock going.  gruden was notorious for giving the ball to crockett up the middle on short yardage & goal line situations.  on this play, we fake the handoff up the middle to crockett.  gannon overthrows a touch pass to a wide open roland williams. (at least i'm 99% sure it was roland williams)  if we convert that first down, you could argue we'd have been able to essentially run out the clock. and the tuck play doesn't even have the opportunity to happen.  that's one of those moments in raider history that i look back on and think........man what a stupid play call.  i loved gruden, but dude we should've pounded it with zack.  especially in those conditions, relying on even gannon to make a perfect touch pass like that?  pretty damn iffy.

THE FUTURE what up maun?....yeah i had a bad virus dawg that had me out of work a full week and all my 11 years of being in radio i have never been out that damn long....i went from 183 pounds to 173....maun that sucks, all that monster workouts for nothing...but i am better and i gotta get my damn appetite back but i am going to the gym today to try to get my power back up... i haven't worked out in 2 weeks to be honest....it will take me 3 weeks to get back to my next level but i will be fine... i know people are talking "run, run run" but if we don't have walker in that lineup maun we won't win many games in my opinion...we have no wr talent so defenses can stack the box on us....i dunno, we will see, but i can see us winning about 6 games so i guess that is an improvement. geez maun, i try not to think about that game too much, but i do know there was apass to jett that was overthrown that could have went for a score i think...don't quote me on this...peace dawg

well i can't exactly recall the overthrow to jett, but you could be right on that.  jett did catch a TD pass in that game (first half i believe, right before halftime).  after all his years of being a "scholarship" player, gruden had finally been able push him down the depth chart.  JP was the #3 wr. although gruden never really figured out how to get him involved in the offense.  but JP had to leave that game with an injury, forcing gruden to put jett in on the 3 wr set.  gannon threw him a beautiful over-the-shoulder touch pass, which jett amazingly hauled in for the TD.  for as long as that SOB stayed on our roster, that is the only TD catch of his i could ever recall.  the play i was referring to though was in the 4th quarter, and i'm pretty sure it went to roland williams. anyway, we definitely need javon to come back healthy.  he's the only thing close we've got to a #1, as questionable as that claim may even be.  i do like the guy, and i truly hope he can put this latest incident (as well as whatever he's still going through from the darrent williams tragedy) behind him and move on.  if we can't rely on him, then we've got serious issues at WR.  the only way drew carter and curry can be effective is if the D has a #1 wr to account for.  without javon, we've obviously got nobody resemblling a #1. happy 4th of july man!

THE FUTURE you know it could have been garner that was overthrown....but jett td was the first td of the game...i didn't hate jett like some others on here. jett wasn't gonna give you 70 catches a year but he was good for about 40 to 50 and don't forget one year "97" he led the afc in td's with i think it was either 11 or 12....that was when jeff george was our qb....james was killing any corner who covered with his world class speed...i remember when jeff talked james up saying every qb with his type of arm power should have a wr like that with that kind of speed, lol.. james would usually get like uhh, 4 to about 7 td's a season....i don't blame him, he wasn't a natural wr, sometimes you have to look at it for what it is....al kept him on the roster, not james himself....i think he did what he could....it didn't seem like much, but he did what he could and i have seen guys who played in the nfl for only like, 3 years, got hurt and none of us even know who they were but they are still proud of their small careers, hell i have even seen guys on this very website brag about what they did in high school and some played in college but didn't make it to the nfl but they still brag about what they did so why should not jett?....hell he led the afc in td's 1 year and this is a fact, so f__k it, be proud of what you did and move on and don't worry about what others say....this includes myself as well, i talk about players to just like anyone of you guys, but i never played football in the nfl either....sometimes there is nothing wrong with al davis schlariships, justn fargas had it as well but he turned out to be the highlight of the season and people have flipped flopped on him. i agree with your last post...

Ha Ha I don't think its about us sucking as much as nothing going on in Raiderland aside from the Walker issue. If our WRs step up this season I don't think you will hear anyone crying for a WR come draft day, but seeing the young talent that we have drafted at WR it doesn't look promising. I still feel that OL is a big need but it seems that Al likes to get OL through FA and in the later rounds of the draft. I wouldn't be surprised though if one or two of our WRs shine this year. I think that Carter really has a chance and I also feel that one of the young guys will feel the pressure and step it up.

THE FUTURE bro when your team sucks you start talking about the draft early, but this is ridiculous...i bet the teams like new england, giants, jags and so forth aren't talking about the draft already. i mean that is basically canning it up and waiting for the draft... sometimes i feel like oakland isn an expansion teams with some of the things i read on here...peace

Ha Ha they aren't talking about the draft cause their team doesn't have many holes. Also most of their fans know that they aren't going to be drafting in the top 10 to even have a shot at picking up some of the studs. It is always nice though to think about the players that were good as Sophomores and Juniors (who didn't already come out) who will now be eligible. When McFadden was a Heisman candidate his Sophomore year I was thinking about how great it would be to have him in the Silver and Black. Things had changed since then because of our RB situation from last year. LOL. I'm not waiting for the draft. I just like to know what College guys to look out for that I may not already know about. You don't watch college football so you wouldn't really understand. I'm waiting for TC and the Aug. 8th to watch the team play. I can't wait for the season, but we have already talked about our team so much there isn't really any new news to talk about unless you want to talk about Jordan not getting any looks for a trade. Regardless of what Davis says we have been rebuilding. Its been a bit rougher than I would have liked, but were starting to get potential pieces in place for a run at the future. I'm looking up cause I think were finally headed in the right direction on offense where we have really lacked since the loss of Gannon. Keep your head up man. Almost a month till the first pre season game! Hey if you haven't already read this its a pretty cool article on Al Davis http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/828893/oakland_raiders_gm_al_da...

Also most of their fans know that they aren't going to be drafting in the top 10 to even have a shot at picking up some of the studs. that is exactly what i am talking about, i don't care if i watched collge or not, i would still not like the fact that people look at the next years draft when the current season hasn't started yet....that is just how i am.....this is a pathetic team obviously... so let me ask you this, when is this team gonna get to a point where you guys are gonna say "alright this is the year, this is the year we win"... tell me when...but i take no pride in looking at next years draft, nor do i take pride in other fans doing it....we are not gonna win with rookies, we need the vets to lead us there....i'd rather talk about free agents coming up or something.... maun i just wish you were understanding what i am trying to say maun...talking about next years draft ain't good right now....it's just not.....and in terms of that article, i am so pissed at fnas for talking about the draft already, i won't read about al davis right now...i read a quick sentence, but i realized that i already knew this stuff...i am upset at him anyway....peace

Ha Ha I don't think its cause our team is pathetic. I actually don't think that we will have a shot at some of the elite talent because I think there is a chance that we don't draft in the top 10 this year. Some teams that we could/should pass up are: Falcons, Dolphins, Chiefs, Lions, 49ers, Rams, Jets, Bears, Ravens, Broncos, Bills... Not all of those teams but there are bound to be teams that slip off due to injury or poor production. You have any objections? Did I miss anyone? I think we will win at least 6 games this year. Ask me the same question during mid season when we can see how Russell is performing and how the WRs are holding up and how the run D is doing. Off hand I would say that we aren't to far off. Its sad to say but I still think that were a year or two off of the playoffs. 2010 would be a pretty safe bet, but you and I both know that looks can be deceiving. We had the oldest team in football and everyone said that was going to be a problem later in the season fell sort of the super bowl and the following year we added more vets and everyone said that we needed to get younger and we ended up getting to the super bowl and had one of the most productive offenses in Raider History. So I'm not going to give it a time table until I see Russell cause a lot is going to ride on his performance. I don't know any FAs coming up so its not something I can really talk about. I can speculate at who will be a FA but since this was up I thought I would talk about something. I'm not taking pride in talking about next years draft. I'm a football fan and I enjoy talking football. Hearing about guys that should be studs in college this year is something to talk about until camp starts. You, me, Valley, Rame, X, Navi, Avi, Stew... don't know who else i'm missing, but we talk about most everything all season long so these next few weeks when there is nothing to talk about I have to fill it up with something LOL. Ha Ha lighten up man. This is the best team we have fielded in a few years. You should be happy that we know who our starting QB is before TC starts and we know that we have a good starting back. Relax man.

THE FUTURE maun we have lost more than 10 games in 5 straight seasons, i am sorr to tell you, raide fan or not, we are pathetic. yeah i do remember people saying this about the raiders because we were old, but as time went on, they were right, their age caught up to them and they could not do it anymore. dude, most people would have told you that our '04 team would have been the best when we added mos, they may not say it now, but they are just flip flopping, lol....but we still tanked...i gotta see it on the field first, but 5 games doesn't seem like a stretch.....but even 6 games is still a double digit losing season...again...i'm sorry maun, i won't tkae up for them just because they are my favorite becvause if they were another team losing like that, i would describe them as pathetic...so i gotta say the same thing about us....our records the last 5 years are the worst in the nfl...you get it?...the worst in the nfl...19 games in 5 seasons is all we won...ol' chap, no matter how you spin it, it's pathetic....that is dead last in the league....peace lil bro

Maybe your not understanding me. I know were sorry. I know this. I don't spend my time watching my favorite team every week  and think that we win all the time. I know we are terrible. I don't think were pathetic. I think that in the past we were. We should win more game sthis year than last and the same the year after. Progress is what I wanted and we seem to be getting it. We didn't end up with the #1 pick again this year and we shouldn't again. Pathetic is no progress. Pathetic is when you were on top and you slide to the bottom. After the SB we were pathetic. Now were back on the rise. If old Al keeps Kiffin on board and we have all our guys on track we should be in good shape in the next few years. I don't know that their age caught up to them. After we lost the SB we probably would have been ok if Gannon didn't get hurt again. He was the brass of our team. He was the glue. When he went down we didn't have an answer at QB. Bill tried to change the offense but it didn't work and the back up QBs didn't know it. Our old players didn't backfire on us. It was injury and an offense that had no leader. We haven't had a capable QB since Gannon. Collins was awful for us and lets also not forget that when he came in for Gannon he was signed late in training camp so he didn't get to pick up the whole offense. It is dead last in the league I get it. Were starting to look like were turning things around. We have been building the offense through the draft when in past years it was all about the defense. We are trying to put together a strong core on offense and if that happens we will be in good shape. Yes its pretty sad when you lose 10 games a year, but pathetic... I don't think so. We had to play two teams that were on the ups and fighting for first in the division twice a year. We had to play some of the toughest schedules in the league. Excuse for a poor record... maybe, but because of the fact that we lost to some very good teams I think its legit LOL

THE FUTURE well i don't care personally who we draft, i say we are pathetic until this 4 games shoiot ends completely....i also think if walker doesn't come back i think we dipped our roster because eventually we are gonna have to pass...like last year, our run game was doing fine, but on the time we had to pass, we sucked....yeah we have an improved roster but i have seen this before only for us to suck still so it has to be done in order for me to get too optimistic...this team has a tendency to tank with a decent roster and i will give you the reason why. there is always talent, but no leadership "on the field".....hell sometimes it's not even on the sidelines, it's in the front office which isn't working. there, now you know how i think....it's not the talent, it's the leadeship, this is oakland, we can't win like other teams with talent, this team needs "leadership"....that is just the way it is...the last time we were winning cinsistentlly we had that, now we don't...we have sucked every since. i just wished some people would realize that because what i just said is a fact. hmm, you are the first person who disagreed with me on the old age thing, even birdwell who is very smart agreed with me....their age caught up to them, i saw linc kennedy say the same thing, rod woodson as well...sometimes smarts can only take you so far....but age caught up to that team, and it was time to get younger...it happens, but i was proud of that roster....linc and rod said this when they were on the show nfl access when they worked together on it before linc got ousted on that channel....even i realized that when i was watching them...hell i am 28 and i have a tough time guarding the young 18 year old in basketball, i was in a tournament before i got sick and found it very difficult..i used to dog 28 year olds when  was 18 , lol....now it was reversed, hahahahahaha....but no maun, i gotta go with the vets who said it even though i felt strongly about it anyway, but if they (rod and linc) said it, then it had to have been true....but i was crazy about that roster...but romanowski was on roids, wheatly could not stay healthy either, trace armstrong was pretty much hurt most of the time when he was here, after his last 16 sack season, lol....another one of thse talent moves that tanked, lol...anyhoo off that...on to your next paragrapgh. bro i disagree with your last couple sentences in every phase of the game...those guys in oakland are millionaires just like everybpdy else on other teas and i don't bay them as a whole just because they play good teams...i have never done before nor will i ever...i can't give this team an excuse for losing, i am a little more harder on them than you are....there is no excuse for losing double digit 5 years straight, period. that is ridiculous for any team, not just us. i'm sorry maun but i disagree strongly about that one....peace

There is actually an article on this site that talks about exactly what I'm talking about as far as the passing game goes. I have been saying that if our offense can run the ball like we did last year and if our D can stop teams no and again we will be in decent shape to win a ball game. Russell should only have to throw maybe 15-20 times per game. Your right though. We need a leader. We need someone who will take charge on the field and that should be Russell. I think that once he realizes that he is in charge out there he could be a leader he just needs to be a bit more vocal and get pissed off so he can start laying into guys. Ha Ha thats a bit ridiculous to think that other teams can win without leadership just not the us. Look at every team who is winning and tell me they don't have a leader. Brady isn't a leader? Either Manning isn't a leader? Rivers and LT aren't leaders? Rivers may be a bit to much but LT is a leader there. All good teams have a good leader. You don't win without discipline and leadership no matter what team you are. I know they were old. I'm not disputing that. I'm saying that the whole wave of young guys coming in was basically because we had guys at the end of their careers here. I didn't see a drop off from Woodson as the season went on. I'm not saying it isn't difficult and there is always a time to go, but when those guys left our team they were still able to perform. Tim Brown could have done in another year in the silver and black same with Jerry Rice and Woodson and Kennedy and Buchannon and Romo. They were at the end of their careers and Davis made the decision to get younger. Anyone who says they fell off their game has got to rethink what they are saying. These guys fell off their game later in the season and still managed to get us to a Super Bowl? Ha Ha you have to be kidding. You said it yourself that you don't do a lot of cardio workouts. Who do you think your so out of breath and stuff? How often do you play basketball? I started running again and I went from struggling to run 1 mile and now I'm running 3 on a regular basis. NFL players train year around and I'm not talking about just in the weight room. They are running doing sprints, speed control, technique I mean c'mon its not even comparable. This 18 year old kid is just out of high school and he is probably a lot more active than you are. Rod and Link of course they are going to say it was tough. Most players once they start entering the later years say that TC gets harder and harder each year. Your getting older and your body doesn't want to do it. Yea I believe them when they say it was tough. Did I see it on the field? sometimes, but you have to realize that these guys were still good enough to be starters. If your going to compare their stats from their prime to the end of their career and say that they fell off sure go ahead and do that. I'm not about to say that Rod and Link started sucking at the end of their careers. Thats fine you disagree. I'm not saying that it makes either of us a better fan than the other. I just don't know how you could even get excited about the up coming season if you think were pathetic. I'm a football fan so I enjoy watching any football game, but I have to be excited about the Raiders and believe they are going to be better. They suck now? Yes. But if I think like you and don't think things are getting better I couldn't get excited to watch a team that had zero potential.

THE FUTURE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....that was funny, when you said that russ should get pissed and lay into people...i heard he was being more assertive but hell he is only what?...22?...i will give him another year if he doesn't take full charge, i don't expect 1st or 2nd year players to become leaders...they don't know how just yet ya know?.. what i meant by that is that some teams can win on pure talent sometimes, but our talent is a little different, too many attitudes and "me" players on oakland who get pissed after a couple of losses in a row and just can it in...you know that real talented guy named moss?....if you can recall, there were [bleep]es on this very webvsite who actually said he was a leader on the team, well that didnt last too long eh?...lol...he is a stat leader type, not lead the team type. that superbowl is what i like to call the last hurrah....but i'd be damn if i let you sit here and tell me that linc and a future hall of famer in rod wodson both say the same thing and let me get you to convince me to say different...kinda like when kiff said that "josh was trhe best option" you believed it remember?..you believed it because kiff said it right?..wel if 2 players say it then i won't side with you....take a look at rice's and timmy stats after they left us and you wil see they were not the same....i won't even debate with you about that...it's not up for debate in my opinion if the players from the team actually said it. some people are just different, while i can understand anyone getting excited about rosters rame and i came to a conclusion that we need to see it on the field first....no more being excited then being depressed by week 3, lol...i don't careif it makes me look less of a fan, a sorry fan, or any type of thing anyone can say, but i stand by what i say and i won't get overexcited until i see something....now you didn't say i am less of a fan, but if anyone thinks that and if they can see, they can kiss my [bleep]...i won't get depressed over this team anymore, i was done with being excited after the shell season...i got sick more in that year than ever and i believe it was because of my emotional rollarocaster of oakland...this website as well...peace

Yea I don't expect him to be a big time leader right away, I just want to see steps to him owning the offense. This is his team and he needs to lead it and show that he can. At 22 I don't expect him to be a Peyton Manning or anything like that, but I"m hoping to see strides. I see what your saying, I think thought it comes from coaches disciplining the players. We haven't had a coach since Gruden that really disciplined the guys so when one would get out of line the rest followed. It kinda reminds me of Jr. High, you get a sub and one student will try to poke at them and as soon as the sub cracks the rest of the class gets in on it. One player steps out of line and the coach doesn't do anything you can be pretty sure that a lot of other players that aren't happy will follow suit. Ha Ha ask my brother about that sub analogy LOL Ha Ha everyone says its hard. Look at Favre! He said that TC gets harder every year and he doesn't seem to falter at the end of the season. Rice and Brown fell off after they left here. They also didn't start for the teams they played on. The guys your talking about said that it got harder they didn't say that they started to suck at the end of the season so they couldn't play. HUGE difference. I'm sure when you do your workouts when you use a heavy weight and struggle to get those last few reps up on the last set its hard but you can still get it done and have the same performance. You don't have to debate it, but I know what they were saying. They were in no way saying that they were washed up towards the end of the season. They were saying that it gets harder to do the older you get. Ha Ha yea I know man. I get excited because I want to see something happen. You can usually tell after the first game how the team is. We should know for sure what we have by week 3 and I want to think that we have something good to watch. I wouldn't be able to get pumped for the games if I didn't think that we had a team to watch. I want to look forward to seeing Russell and Fargas and Miller on the field. I want to see how Hall and Wilson do in our secondary. If I'm not excited for the first game of the season whats the point in watching?

THE FUTURE ol' chap...that sounds like a name foe a hound dog, and old one, lol...hahahahaha....the kind that will sit there on the front porch in like 101 degree weather and won't move, lol...hahahahahaha. mmkay, anyhoo, hahahaha.... well favre had guys blocking for him, it's different when you are out there running routes....timmy and jerry played until their wheels fell off and jerry just had too much pride....i remember they showed on foxsports rookies and 3 year and under guys keeping up with him no matter what or how good good the route running was....they talked about him bad on our show everyday, lol. now what i am saying that linc and rod said they were not as good at the end of their careers, age caught up to them funally...why are arguing agaisnt the players that were there maun?....i'm no longer touching this subject from here on in...i respect players who were actually good and spoke the truth about da shiot. i watch every game and i only get excited because it's my favorite team...but my being excited never lasts long....lord knows if i was ot a raider fan i would not watch tha team...peace

Damn man you know we have that heat wave thing out here right now? There are like 330 fires here and its smokey and its like 110 degrees everyday. It's supposed to cool off today only supposed to be 103. Sucks man. I do agree that Jerry played to long. I believe thats why Davis let him go. I don't recall any of the guys being washed up while they were here except for Trace Armstrong. Even Eric Allen played well of us at the end of his career. See now you changing things up. I never disputed that it was difficult for guys that were getting older. Infact I was saying that it was hard. I said that their production didn't fall off at the end of the season because of their age. Was it hard? Sure. Their bodies are old. You said that they were old and that they couldn't perform on the same level. What level are we talking about? I don't expect someone who is at the end of their 15 year career to put up numbers like they are 5 year vets. Gannon got better the longer he played but there aren't many like that. Who really is that good at the end of their careers? Strahan could still play and still be producing hell he had a really good year last year. I think if you talked to him he would say that it was getting harder for him. That comes with age man.

THE FUTURE   damn, that hot?...jesus christ....it's not hot like normal out here because of cloud cover and rain all the damn time...i haven't washed my car in 3 weeks, lol...usually like 89 to 94 out here, not bad like last year. timmy brown wasn't doing much once he left too, guys who were not good were keeping up with him and rice, their speed just wasn't seperating from corners anymore...i still think that td with brown against us in that tampa game was given to him.... what i meant by what i was saying is that age caught up to them, they were dominant that superbowl year but they were no longer like that after that...that season took a lot out of them (rod and linc said)....and yeah strahan was good last year but he wasn't the dominant force he once was....you know i was never realy a big fan of his...he got on my nerves with that goddamn gap...lol. basically what i am telling you that the raiders falling ff with that roster was ineveitable....a lot of people said it and i agreed...a couple of the players said it as well, so why on god's green earth would i agree with you?...makes no sense dawg...it realy doesn't...they knew what was going on in that locker room, not us....peace and make up another subject maun...i am begging you, please.

Yea man its pretty warm. Its cooled off so its quite nice the past few days but when its 87 at night it sucks hard. They didn't have the same speed but they were still effective route runners. Ha Ha Brown in our offense before he left was good. He still put up numbers and still got the separation. Yea I'm not big on Strahan. He is one hell of a player though. Also I know age caught up with them. I know it did. I never disputed that cause age catches up with everyone. Usually when it does they aren't able to do anything and they start sucking and they lose their starting jobs. Rod nor link lost their starting jobs and they still performed well. I know what your saying and I know what they said you were just saying it wrong LOL. I never said that they weren't going to fall off with that roster. I don't know where you get some of this stuff seriously. When guys that are starters retire or have career ending injuries you have to replace them. When we had to replace guys like Gannon and Brown and Rice and Kennedy and Woodson and so on with guys like Collins, Porter, Curry, Gallery and Stu... thats a lot of talent that we lost. I never said that we would go on forever with those guys. I was saying that people were saying that we were too old and wouldn't be able to get it done. What happened? We put together one of the best Raider offenses we have seen in our life time. All good things must come to an end. See man this is why I always argue about old stuff or talk about the future cause there is going to be nothing to talk about until July 24th.

THE FUTURE maun timmy didn't do much once he left in tampa...he was slow, tha team was bound to slow down...that is when kinda started dismanltling the squad...remember when al davis talked to jerry rice in that meeting, al wanted to go vetical again and jerry didn't fit it because of his speed...so it was porter, curry and gabe (a crew that i like until al f__ked up  by getting moss).....timmy also didn't fit in that system....both of those guys were slow as molasses. well whatever happens i aint talking about college. anyhoo, back to football, dude, i knew we would be good the year after gru left, but a lot of kats predicted we would suck after that year because of our old [bleep] team (in da media and where i was from) and they were right, i wasn't suprised at all, but i didn't realize we would suck in '08, lol.

I'm not talking about when he was with Tampa. I'm talking about when he was with us. When Tim Brown played his final year as a Raider can you honestly tell me that he was washed up? I know the team was going to slow down with aging players but what are you not getting about what I'm saying. We were getting younger in the draft and we were still winning games with the vets. it worked until we lost all of them. and we lost Gannon. Tim and Jerry didn't fit into the offense your right. However we got the most of them when we had them. I'm not talking about them after they left here I'm talking about when the media was talking about how we were the oldest team in football (which we were) and how it was stupid for Al to bring all these old players in that were past their prime. Al once again proved them wrong and put together a chamionship team. I believe things started to fall apart when we changed the offense after the super bowl and then Gannon went down in I believe the first or second game. Callahan started calling out his players but noone responded the way they should have. I didn't think we would suck for this long either, but here is to hoping that we turn things around this year. Ha Ha. I have actually read a few articles from sports writers and they seem to think that the Raiders will surprise some people. They don't think they will make the playoffs or anything but they don't think that they are going to be at the bottom on the league.

THE FUTURE maun i am in another f__ked up mood...i mean you go in the kitchen area, and put money in the f__king vending machine thinking you are gonna get a goddamn lipton iced tea, then the shiot doesn't come out and the machine doesn't give you your money back?!!!!!! goddamn maun!!!!!!!!!....ARGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND YEAH, I DO THINK TIMMY WAS SLOWING DOWN ON HIS LAST YEAR HERE, IT WAS TIME TO GO.!!!! arrrgghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU KNOW I NO LONGER LISTEN TO REPORTERS AND ANALYSTS who say that we may suprise people...they said the same thing when moss got here that year and we won only 4 games....i now just wait to see how it will play out.. umm, i am very pissed at this organizatrion for not taking care of my boy nam....all these punk [bleep] unproven guys like kelly getting mad loot, a guy who isn't as good as he thinks in hall, and a guy who is constantly hurt and makes dumb decisions and doesn't like his last 2 teams and they don't like him (walker) gets mad loot and our best defender can't get any loot? i hope name doesn't even wanna play here after this season...as god as my witness, i won't be upset at him at all...but then again, i am never mad at any of my fav players when they wanna leave because leaving oakland while they keep losing is a good biz decision....today is a horrible morning.

Ha Ha yea I hate vending machines! Sometimes they rock when they give you two of something but most of the time its just a rip off. I don't listen to much of it either. I'm just pointing out the fact that they haven't said anything good about us in a long time. The whole thing with Moss though too was that he was going to have Gannon throwing to him and instead we had Kerry and also had a unmotivated WR. Yea that kinda pisses me off too. He's being taken care of because he is making a ton of money, but we need to tie him up for a few years. I don't know what the deal is with that. I just read the article too talking about how Davis signed unproven guys to big contracts but not Nam. I also don't understand why they didn't when Al supposedly loves CBs  especially in the same mold as Nam! Doesn't really make sense. I'm not to familiar with the franchise tag. Since the deadline passed does this mean we can't sign him to a long term contract in the middle of the season? I don't think Nam wants to leave. I think that he wants to have security. I think that he wants to know that he is going to be living in Oakland for some time. He went to school out there so I'm sure he likes the area.

THE FUTURE huh, maun it gets worse, i came from san anotnio yesterday and i get to my car in the parking lot, and it would not start...i got a boost from security...it would not start this morning either, i got a boost from aneighbor who was actually outside at 4:20 in da morn. GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!.....ARRRGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! now i got to go to autozone after da show and see what is wrong with da damn car...i will have to get a boost when i leave here more than likely. i can count on 1 hand of how many times i got 2 products in 1 paying amount of a vending machine...lol. i am dumb when it comes to franchise tags as well.....lol...this is why i don't really favor davis in a lot of ways...i really get upset at him when crazy shiot happens to my fav players and this takes the cake....he doesn't do biz the right way...that dude has been loyal and had to develop into a position he didn't even play in college and became one of the best at his position now and you can't give him loot?... but tommy kelly gets all that loot and can't even play at the moment?!!!! maun f__k that, there is reasons why i talk bad about this organization...my nephew (who is 21) ripped this place apart when they did that to nam, he doesn't like us but he does like nam and burgess and i didn't disagree with him not one bit...al takes care of his players, but he doesn't take care of the real ones who need it and deserve it. i read a report that nam wanted to see what oakland will do in terms of progress because this team has tanked pretty much every year he was here....if this is the case, i don't blame him one bit, and "if" he does want to leave, i would not blame him...a lot of guys wanted to leave as time went on...peace

Ha Ha yea I can count on one hand too the amount of times that has happened. I hate vending machines. I'm not in favor of the franchise tag either, but I don't blame Davis for using it on Nam. All teams have it for a reason and they use it for the most part so they are entitled to draft picks if they decide to leave. I originally thought that they franchised him to see if he could have another good year and then sign him to a long term contract, but after we put all that money into Hall I couldn't make sense of it. Al Davis loves CBs like Nam so I don't see him letting him go. It would just be nice to see Davis pay a guy big bucks who has produced for the team rather then guys who "could" produce for the team. Nam and Burgess should have been the first two guys rewarded at the end of the season. I don't think Nam really wants to leave. I think he is more worried about how serious the franchise is about winning and getting a coach in here that can have a job for more than a year.

THE FUTURE yeah thanks maun, you solved my own little puzzle, that is what that artilce said...he wanted to see if this fanchise is serious about winning...now that is a shame in itself...this organization is so horrible that players need to see if their own organization is serious about winning. me too...as a fan that is why i dont take up for them like  should...i need to see if they are serious about winning, and it won't happen with me about drafts, or vets we pick up or spend loot on...i want to see the finished product on the field....it won't happen without leadership and not this "power trip". too many players who played here rip them a lot and i know players on the team rip them as well, they just don't say it until they leave. i mean we got mcfadden, i don't look at it the way people do, when you lose like we do, you are supposed to get the top notch draft picks, lol....if nam doesn't want to play for us, (just saying for conversations sake) would you be mad at him?...peace maun

Its funny you keep talking about seeing if the organization is serious about winning. Why not look at the players that are here. Why not see if they are serious about winning. I don't think you can really argue that this organization brings in talent and pays money to bring guys in after all thats all we have talked about this offseason. Rather than point blame at the organization I point fingers at guys like Moss and Porter and Jordan and all the guys who are me first guys. We haven't been winning in 5 years and you know you can see guys that just give up as the season goes on. Is it the organizations fault? I guess for bringing the guys in, but we need guys to step up. We need guys that wont tolerate giving up on the team. I have no doubts that this organization is trying to win. I question the money they pay for some of the talent and the treatment of players, however I think rather looking at if the organization is serious about winning I'm more concerned with the players being serious about winning. I agree it wont happen without leadership, and I do blame the front office for not bringing in the "leadership" guys. We brought in Hall and he has be a "Me first" player for a while, granted you didn't hear anything really bad about him until this year when he voiced how much he hated the coach. But still, We have some talent and we spent money. Its up to players to go out and prove that they want to win. I wouldn't blame Nam for leaving no. I think the franchise tag is BS and I think its disrespectful. Yea the guy gets paid well, but your locking him into something and somewhere that he might not want to be. When we kept doing it to Woodson I was getting pissed cause I for one don't think we should pay a guy that much money for one year especially cause he was getting hurt. If Nam wants to leave and to somewhere like N.O. (I think he is from LA) or Miami or something closer to home I wouldn't blame him. I have more respect for guys however that are loyal to the team and not the money. But I can also see Nam standpoint about being franchised and the team not wanting to pay you what your worth. IMO I think he is getting paid more than he is worth, but if he has another good season like 2 years ago I think he won't have a problem getting a contract.

THE FUTURE hey maun where were you yesterday?...anyhoo, ok, let me get this straight, you have players or former players who played here wonder if the organization is serious about winning, but all of a sudden i am wrong for thinking that way?...maun please, you need to bring it a lil better than that....also, the "me first guys" subject you brought actually makes it worse because since we know they are me first guys, then why the hell do you sing them to begin with?..so i don't blame the players, i blame the guy who spends milllions on them....if you (i am talking about you specifically) are a me firs guy, then i am not gonna sign you....i'm not gonna give you millions of dollars and you give up on the field when we lose....football organization start at the top and that is where we fall off...i mean there was an article on here a couple of days ago saying our organization itself is our own worst enemy and you could give me a million dollars and i would still agree with that article. moss was a bioch before he even got here and you bring him to a team where attitudes are basically accepted, but we were losers when he got here and you can't expect a baby to act right on a losing team....i am not afraid to tell you that i knew he would not work out here the moment we signed him. we didn't have anu true leaders here on the team when he came here, no one would step up to him when he wasn't playing or giving it his all when he was here, but when he went to new england rodney harrison said if he went off in any way he, bruschi, and the others would put that shiot to a stop and he meant it too...that is what leaders do, we don't have that here. deangelo hall is a me first guy, walker is a well known one as well.... you just better hpe we win because if not, we are gonna have some problems out of them...but then again, walker already gave us problems.  however I think rather looking at if the organization is serious about winning I'm more concerned with the players being serious about winning. hmm, i look at it this way, if the front office is a circus act, then the team on the field will be as well...i mean this is a team where the coach can't make a personnel decision....i mean if you can recall, kiff once he finally started speaking outright said al is a different kind of guy...he is the coach, offensive coordinator, and the coach on defense as well....that told me that kiff really doesn'gt have any contrl over anything....geez.  now in terms of money i don't really get mad at players for wanting money..they have to get market value....this game is a biz first and entertainment 2nd...what goes on in those negotiating rooms ain't my biz and it will never be...lastly, nam won't get the chance to get 8 picks because qb's don't throw in his direction...you sound like your bro when you say you want him to have a season like 2 years ago...if he keeps getting avoided, he will never have a season like that again. peace

I was on here yesterday. Did you miss me? LOL I'm not saying your wrong for believing that. I just don't know how you can blame the people who bring the players in and not the players themselves. It goes both ways. Its like me blaming my wife for getting pregnant, it takes both side to make it work. I'm not disagreeing with you. I don't like the fact that we spent money on those me first guys and are going to have to deal with them now, however its worked out for lots of team. Patriots got a me first guy and look what he did last year. Don't take what I said the wrong way. I don't think its only the organization that isn't performing well, its from the ground up. We have players that play their hearts out every week and your boy Fargas is one of them, but we also have guys that don't give a crap and only play when things are going well like Jordan. I thought that Moss would have been better for us than he was. I didn't think he fit our system so I didn't think he would be as effective and we were right. I didn't think either that he would have given up on the team. Your right we have not leaders. Thats part of the problem. I would like for some of these guys to step up and do something. Leadership guys aren't usually available becasue of how much they mean to a team. They are hard to find. Our organization is run by one man and everyone knows it. Since Day 1 Al has been running the Raiders as we know them. Do I agree with everything that he does? No. Do I think he makes the right personell choices? No. But I know what the team is and how its run so it doesnt to any good to try to change it cause its not going to happen. I think that you are ridiculous if you think an organization wants to lose. You don't want your business to fail cause then your out of a job. Davis isn't like "I'm so rich I'll just bomb the Raiders so they suck and noone likes them" He puts money into the team and I don't see him trying to make us lose. I see him desperatly trying to get us to win and making a lot of bad choices. Ha Ha sorry I had to come back and edit cause I forgot to comment on Nam. I think he will get balls thrown his way this year. He didn't get challanged last year, your right. And I probably do sound like my brother cause we already talked about it. Nam is a damn good cover corner and I don't expect him to get 8 picks again this year. I'm saying that if were in more games this year and teams have to throw he is going to get more than 30 balls thrown to him all year. Unless Hall sucks and we can't score Nam will have more balls thrown his direction and be able to further prove his playmaking skills. Last season he shut guys down and part of that was because Washington gave up everything on just about every down. Do I think Nam should get his long term contract? Hell yea! I think he should get a 6 or 7 year deal with all sorts of money. He was on the field all the time last year but thats like having the Blocking TE on the field and him coming up with some big plays during the season and then giving him a huge contract. Nam has proved himself able to cover guys and I like the guy always have, but what happens this year if he is challenged 40 more times this year? and yea they are what if's but I'm just saying. Will he come up with 5 picks? Will he be as dominant as he was last year? He is going to play for us this year which I'm happy about and I dont think Al will let him go so I don't think we have to worry about it.

THE FUTURE yeah kinda, but after that other post we were talking on i am not missing you anymore...it's really pissing me off so we may as well let bygones be bygones and chill on that one. you are absolutely right...it does go both ways, both have to take responsibility...but if a guy already has a reputation before he gets here, then why sign them?..shouldn't you be more careful when you are dishing out millions?....if i can recall, organizations do a lot of research about a player before they sign a player so that is why i say organizations before the player....i mean dawg, if you have a reputation of being a pedophile, i won't let you near my kids...it's that simple....you get what you pay for...players attitudes don't change, it just gets worst when you give them a lot of money because it gives them a sense of power...especially when you are on a team where the players really do have the power because the GM puts his players before the coaching staff....players that used to play on winning teams usually don't function well on a losing team....so that is why i put more blame on the front office because it starts with them, not the players. yes, patriots did get a me first guy..but they have leaders on that team, he can't act up, they wont let him...not to mention they are not dysfunctional...they knew how to get him involved....they could not here....they were winners, we were losers, moss wasn't gonna f__k up even if life depended on it....how about this, i knew when he went to new england he wasn't gonna mess their chemistry up and i knew he would be a class act....this is coming from me and i don't like the guy...stew was telling me he wasn't the same player (moss) and i said yeah he was, this was on a private email, stew was pissed at moss for how he did us in oakland, but although i don't like the guy i took up for him only because i knew he wasn't slowing down, we were just too dumb of a tea go get the guy involved and didn't know how to use him....why would you put a guy on this team and no tknow how to use him is beyond me...lol. fargas is humble because he has already seen the good life...his father was already rich when he was a child....money won't change him ya know?...he has always been quiet, even since his days in michigan and USC....so you didn't think moss would give up on the team eh?...well i did and i made it known throughout this site so no one can say i flipped on people or switched up shiot....i have been right on a lot of shiot that people said otherwise...usually when i riped moss people would rip me taking up for him...only months later they sided with me. no organization wants to lose but their decisions are bad before they even realize it...how is it that you and i can point out the teams mistakes before it happens but these organizations don't see it coming?....so once again i say, you get what you pay for....i can't really say it no different than that....hahahahaha...yeah you are right, leaders are hard to find, but we will keep having young players on this team if we keep having top 5 draft picks and we can't depend on them to lead. this post is getting long so i will end it on the last paragraph.. I see him desperatly trying to get us to win and making a lot of bad choices. hey that above was your best qoute of the month....keep it up maun. now with nam he has been dominat 2 years straight...8 picks on year and shutting people down this past season...no one believed me that he wouldn't get chaleneged this year....they were saying "qwell he only had 1 good year and you are shiottin' yourself if you think qb's won't chalnege him this season". well, well, well....not even manning and favre challenegd him....so once again i was right...even my boy rame had to acknowledge i was right on that one....people think i am wrong a lot but as time goes i usually am right...i tell ya what though i was wrong about lamont..i took up for him and he made me look bad...lol..my most famous prize possesion in terms of being right was wood getting 8 picks with green bay when people said he was washed up and mongoose thought he would not make it past 12 games....he did...nam who almost no one thought he would turn out the way he did...and of course, fargas....whom people thought he would get released by the end of the preseason... some thought that african guy who make it past him saying he outplayed fargas in the preaseason.....i didn't see how they could think that and the guy was going against 3 and 4th stringers...boy oh boy...peace
