Ok soapbox time I know this does not apply to most people who read these but I need to vent a bit so apoligies in advance. On June 1st there was a horrible collision on East Cypress Road between Bethel Island Rd and Jersey Island Rd. needless to say it was a fatal collision. It was necessary to close the road to do a proper investigation of the collision, cutting off the main access to Bethel Island and the Summer Lake development in Oakley. So why are there so many self centered people who feel the need to yell at the police or sheriff's deputy directing traffic, and protecting a potential crime scene. The delay in getting to your destination was nothing compared to the suffering of the family of the victim.

East Cypress Rd has been the scene of many horrible accidents over the years, this was not the first and will probably not be the last. So if you are stuck in a similar situation again ask yourself this question if that was a family member of mine that was killed or injured would I want the police to conduct a complete investigation or just a half a**ed job and open the road as quick as possible?

For the most part, people are petty decent as pedestrians, but for some strange reason many become a horse’s petunia when they enter their car and put the key in the ignition. I confess that I have been a petunia on occasion. But I’m working on it.

Come on P5Ret isn't that what we got paid the "Big Bucks" for (poor attempt at humor)? I do know what you mean. I found that with the real obnoxious people it would pass the time having fun with them. When they would demand to know what was going on (even though it should have been obvious) I would tell them ...Alien landing....weekly disaster drill... ship wreck...etc and then walk away leaving them to ponder the situation.

The folks that realized the situation and remained calm got all the info I had or at least had the time to give them. They would be the first, if possible when it became time to get traffic moving again.

Cowboy, just another day in paradise I suppose. I do like the Alien landing line wish I had thought of that one.

The person that passed away was a friend of mine! He was a wonderful person and is missed by so many! We had so many greet times together, joking and laughing. It's very unfortunate that people get so caught up in there own lives that they cant put themselves in others shoes and feel the pain of losing a wonderful person like this! It was sudden and tragic and at one point or another they will or have felt this sort of shock/pain! So please everyone out there try to be a little more compassionate and remember to live life to the fullest because you never know when it's your time or the ones you love! The first comment sums it up really(HOW WOULD YOU FEEL)!
