I have to wonder if these days anyone proofreads anything . Recently my Valley Times newspaper has read like it was written by a third grader and never proofed in any way. I have never seen so many spelling, grammar and factual errors as have been running lately.
Today's error got to me enough to prompt me to comment. In your story about the America's Got Talent finalists, you mention Terry Factor. His name is Terry FATOR, and that fact would have been so easy to check, just like I did, online. You have gotten it wrong 4 times in your little article. If you never watched AGT, then maybe you should have checked your facts before you let it be printed.
And you are certainly not alone in letting out incorrect or misspelled news. I have never seen so many as have occurred in the past couple months. I'm guessing just another effect of the economy, smaller staff, fewer people having to do more work for less money. I guess it has to all come out somewhere. But maybe you could all be just a little more careful so that [bleep] retentive people like myself arn't even more upset by the news than the news itself causes. I don't claim to be perfect myself, but then, I'm not writing for a major newspaper, and I DO use spellcheck!
