Wow, the sky is sickly yellow and it smells pretty smokey here in my corner of southeast Antioch at the moment. Have there been reports of any fires going on throughout the greater East Bay this morning, or is this stuff just drifting over from Santa Cruz/Morgan Hill/the 400-some-odd fires from lightning strikes up north over the weekend?

Probably all the other areas: haven't heard of any around here, but, boy are the skies ugly!

There are over 600 fires burning in northern California. The wind is from the NW so most of the smoke we're seeing is from that big one near Napa.

Yowza. And last I knew, fire season hadn't even officially started (hmm, or mebbe they were sayin' that last month, right after the first or second Santa Cruz fire). Everything is such a tinderbox right now, that the smell of smoke has me a bit on edge.

Yeah I'm pretty sure there aren't any nearby or in Antioch.
I dunno about everyone else but I actually don't mind the smoke. I kind of like it; reminds me of camping in the woods.

Yeah it does give the sky a sort of sultry, pink glow at dusk. Kind of like being at the Madonna Inn dining room.

Madonna Inn. Haven't thought of that place in at least 35 years. My brother went to Cal Poly and we visited the Madonna Inn a few times. It was fantastic back then. Not sure if it has been kept up.
