Phil Gramm says there is no recession, just a "mental recession". We are now a nation of whiners!
So, are you a whiner? Or are you a person doing just fine, thank you, with the "temporary" financial "episodes" that are rippling through our economy (and aren't that bad, anyway)?
Of course, Phil Gramm (and his wife) worked really hard to create the legal loophole through which Ken Lay could drive his Enron bus, and that "crisis" was all a figment of our imagination, too. Wasn't it? How many vote for Phil Gramm for Secretary of the Treasury?

Yeah, and when was the last time Dr. Phil stood in line at a grocery store or pumped his own gas? But then again the price of gas down in the Lone Star state is relatively cheap isn't it? As well in Wyoming. Hmmmm

Isn't nice to be wealthy like the Gramm family, who apparently have nothing to whine about, because they can afford to buy it.
The majority of the middle class are seeing their standard of living slipping-away, and are a little upset. But, don't expect any sympathy from the Gramms, they don't understand the problem.
I was watching a program on cable news about the oil crisis, and the question was asked: who is to blame for this crisis. I don't blame the oil companies or oil speculation.
I blame the Government (including Gramm) for letting it happen.
Those wise men and women we send to Washington, who collectively, are not very wise at all. They ride the tide of public opinion (what ever it is at that moment) and lack the imagination, and wisdom to anticipate and confront our problems as they become known.
No, our Congress can't hardly agree on anything. Oil crisis or otherwise.
It's ironic, we spends trillions on our military, and we really don't have too MUCH to fear from any foreign army or terrorist.
Realistically speaking, only America can harm America. Yeah, even the noble ideal of "America" can be devastated, by factionalism and apathy, which I fear more than any Osama Bin Laden.
