Why? I wasn't a Jackson fan. So why should looking at him from what a Jackson fan considers to be a "nostalgic" perspective make me more appreciative of what mainstream media has to offer? My condolences to the Jackson family. And, I won't take the "he was only a singer" philosophy. But I have no need to learn more about the history of a person whom I never held interest in in the first place. Therefore, I turn off the TV and find other things to do. Ditto with newspaper articles.
