My wife is mad at me because I was pacing back and forth all evening ranting about Longshore being awful, then being angry that the fans at AT&T were booing him, a college kid, for being awful. They managed to win anyway with Zack Follett coming up big forcing a fumble on the Miami 5 yard line.  Jahvid Best was great with, I believe, 185 yard and player of the game honors.  Lonshore finally pulled it together enough to not cause them to lose. I was glad to see NO pack 10 officials calling the game.  It was class Tedford all the way letting Longshore go since he's a senior. Riley will get his chance later.  I can't stand to listen to the TV broadcasters.  They just kept going on and on about Miami. And if that idiot said "San Fran" one more time I was going to blow up my TV. At least it wasn't "Frisco" but the knucklehead lives in the City. Why would he keep saying "San Fran"????  Maybe I've lived around here too long. It was like fingernails on a chalkboard. I finaly tuned in Joe (the band is on the field!!) Starkey and Troy Taylor on radio.

I'm a pacer too and cringed everytime that Longshore passed. His errant throws gave Miami an advantage in time-of-possession. But the defense played great right to the end and finally caused the key turnover. I was impressed how well Best ran against 8 and 9 men in the box. Real good interior blocking and cutback lanes. A good way to end the season. Next year we should be good, but I sure am going to miss those Senior Linebackers!

I was at the game...sat on the field in the 4th row behind UM's cheerleaders.  AND I worked the Bear Backer's pre-game kickoff at Gordon Biersch Saturday afternoon, complete with the Cal marching band playing for the crowd from the MUNI station--it was awesome to have a local team in the Emerald Bowl this year BUT I wore my UM shoes because I did live in Miami for a couple years and have some close friends who are alumni, so I had to represent.  I'm always for the underdog anyway!  College football is so much more fun than NFL I've decided.

At the game AND work at one of my other favorite restaurants, Gordon Biersch.  Your A OK in my book allthatryry. I may let you slide on the Miami connection.  I am still a fan of the Niners and the NFL but, I enjoy college football and college basketball more than the pro's.  At least for the local schools.  I have a harder time rooting for the big powerhouse programs in college sports.  I am first and foremost a Cal fan but I root for all the local schools when they're not playing Cal.

Man, that final TD pass by Longshore was a risky call.  When he was flushed out and rolling to his right I was thinking, "Please don't throw it!"  He throws it and there's 3 Cal receivers in the same vicinity which means they got a whole lot of defenders around too.  The announcer at first said he thought he was throwing for the tight end and over threw him, but after the commercial break, he decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and he said he could tell from the replay Longshore was throwing to the guy that caught it.  I'm glad it worked out and you have to feel good for Longshore, but it could have spelled disaster for him and Cal.  I thought they would just call running plays and if they didn't punch it in, leave Miami with no timeouts and very little time for their freshman QB even if Cal had to kick the field goal.  Thank goodness it all worked out, because getting the national exposure and seeing the highlights featured all night on ESPN after the W was really great!
