Yes, Heritage JV did beat Pitts JV last year... They have a really strong team coming back next year. There's a kid by the name of Davonte' lewis who should be playing wide reciever but they might put him at TE, he's about 6-1 195 and can flat out run.. Has great hands also.. They also moved Diallo to wide out which makes them really strong on offense. I also think both kids are going to be going both ways one at saftey and the other at DE

Mr. Patriot.....with that said...it would appear that some serious changes are about to take place for the 2009 season....Pittsburg has work to do and so does DV.....Freedom, Liberty and Antioch won't cause a lot of trouble...We will see what happens....

Anybody know what time the Pitt game is vs Sac-Joaquin power Del Oro (Loomis) on Sept 12 at the Battle of the Capitol in Hughes Stadium (Sacramento)?  I heard Sacred Heart vs Franklin (ElkGrove) is at 11:00am...so Pitt must be after this game,  pls confirm.

This Pitt game shd tell us how BVAL will end this year; I heard Pitt's starter QB can throw and is an athlete---that would make it more exciting.

Yea, there should be some good games in the BVAL this year. I've seen the QB for DV and the kid is a monster about 6'2 with some speed and can really throw the ball and you can never count out pitt. They produce great players every year.

sorry about that earlier, I thought they're playing Del Oro (Loomis).. it's CAL High playing Del Oro at 8:00pm on the same Battle of the Capitol on Sept12. Pitt will play Granite Bay at 2:00pm.

CAL, though, I heard will be at the Pitt scrimmage on August 28 at 7:00pm...

Calpreps.com now has partial schedules listed, if anyone is interested.

Kriat......If Pittsburg can control their pentalies and use a little discipline as a team, I think they can beat Granite Bay...If not....then there is a good chance that GB will run over the Pirates.....GB was 9-2 last year and should be just as for ther 2009 season.....

They participated in the DVC passing tounament over the weekend.  After a few drops early in the morning they looked prettey good. Diallo Lawson and Bryce Walters caught some nice passes.  Lawson will play receiver and Walters will play Sweeper.  Both very fast.

The QBs looked rusty but they had not practiced since school let out.

DBs and LBs looked ok but the defense always looks good during passing leagues.

No other BVAL teams were there.

Heritage Fan....Who did the Patriots go up against at DVC???

Last I checked a tackle in passing league football consisted of a touch of the hand. They don't even wear pads. Not only that the Pirates receivers are superior with Robert Jiles Jermaine Sims, Terrence Polk and John Hart. Please tell me who has a better crew.

They played Encinal first (Heritage won), then DeLaSalle (lost), and then a couple other teams, I forgot who.

Heritage Fan.....How well did they do against De la Salle, nothing wrong by loosing a game to them....One can learn  a lot...especially if you make them work for the win.....

They looked ok after they calmed down a bit. Walters and Lawson were open a lot but the QB at the time didn't see them. Heritage DBs got burned a few times but otherwise held their own. DeLaSalle looked good but we will see during the season. Foothill and other teams in their league will give them a game.

Playing close with De La Salle means nothing in passing league.  Until Heritage can play with top teams in the BVAL they can't be hyped like they are a force.  Maybe this will be the year but until they show it on the field don't make big predictions.

Coach Smith has made progress with discipline issues that have crippled the Liberty team for the last two years so hopefully they will improve their record.  JV and Freshmen had very good seasons last year.  Maybe a BVAL win this year?  Antioch looks weak, they might have a shot there.  They have good experience in the skill positions but the line is small and slow.  Offense will probably suffer again.  They have three good QBs.  One is better on defense and is not motivated, the other has a great arm but is too small, and the third is a sophmore they pulled up because of his running ability.  We'll see if the line and give them some time to perform this year.

They are currently at the St. Mary's camp and the offense performed well tonight against the Tracy Bulldogs.  They also scored several times against the Division II champions from last year (Cathedral Dons from San Diego).

The Panthers coach is apparently calling it a day as he has announced this will be his last year. Not only that he has stated the team might when half their games. I can't believe that the once proud program has dipped to such lows.

Antioch has a better than average talent pool and an aggressive community support. That's why kids keep leaving.

Heritage has passing leauge this saturday at LMC not sure what teams will be there but it should be somewhat of a better viewing since they've had some time to work on some things since their last passing league.

You are correct mrpatriot. They should look better after practicing for the last two weeks. They are also having a mini passing contest today against Concord. I think it's at 3:30.

What happened at the work out today with Concord?  I follow Concord and would appreciate the break down.  Thank you!

They were about even, trading TD for TD.  Hightower of Concord looked ok, dropped a few he should have had.  Walters for Heritage was covering him alot and did well.  You could tell Hightower was getting frustrated and a little 'talking' between the two was going on.  Concord's QB was not impressive.  If Concord had a better QB they could go far.  They have other receivers that looked real good, don't know how their RBs are.  Heritage will be at LMC on Saturday for passing league.

Freedom will be down this year because they lost so much but their O-line will surprise people.  They have 2 returning starters and 3 kids who will be juniors that played a lot in the playoffs.  As long as they keep whooping Heritage and Liberty everything will be ok for the year.

Heritage was at the LMC passing league today. Other teams that were there wa Mt. Diablo, Deer Valley, Pitt, Carmel (two teams), Antioch, and Vallejo. Heritage looked alot better then the previous passing league at DVC. Pitt looked good and so did Antioch. Really didn't get a look at Deer Valley.

I was at the LMC passing league tournament Saturday. To be quite honest Pitt was clearly the outstanding and dominant team in the whole field. They ran(I mean passed) through every team as if they were JV players ultimately beating a fatigued Deer Valley team in the championship.

Julius Mozzee was the top QB in the tournement as he repeatedly got the rock to his big time playmakers Robert Jiles, Jermaine Sims, Terrence Polk and the rest of the Pirate WRs.

The Pirates defense was very stout as they intercepted more than 10 balls in the seven games they played four for touchdowns.

Keeping all this in perspective this is football without pads. Passing league is about throwing, cathching, timing, and positioning. Some of these teams will disappear once the pads come on and some will emerge.

Pitt is still trying to find themselves as a team. From a coaches standpoint they did some good things and some bad things. Players stepped up and some guys have to raise their games. Monday (5:15pm) Pitt plays De La Salle for the second time this summer. This will be a good test for both teams.

As far as the BVAL is concerned there isn't a team that appears to be ready to knock the Piarates off the top of hill. But, there hasn't been any pads on yet.

You're right voice no team will knock off the Pirates unless a big upset happens.  However it seems as though the rest of the league will be fairly competitive.

Pittsburg's passing game seems to be going in the right direction and with the speed that the Pirates have for the running game there is a good chance that they will be ready for their first game against Burbank which went 9-4 last year...BUT Burbank and Grant are in a weak league, so a 9-4 finish really doesn't mean much....The Pirates get a warmup game against Burbank before meeting Granite Bay on 9-5-09 at Sacramento city College while Granite Bay doesn't start the season until the Battle at the Capitol on 9-12...BUT...Granite Bay gets a chance to look over Pittsburg and prepare...

Game one.....Sacred Heart Catheral vs. Franklin of Elk Grove at 11 A.M.   SHC finished the season last year at 8-5 while Franklin went 4-6...both teams are in tough leagues, so this game is going to be close...both teams have plenty of speed so any thing can happen.

Game two.....Pittsburg Vs. Granite Bay at 2 P.M......To give you an idea of what the Pirates are up against....Granite Bay lost a playoff game to Grant 22-19 last season and they should be just as tough this year.....This game will be either a shootout or a real battle...

Game three.....Cardinal Newman Vs. Central Catholic at 5 P.M......last year CN stopped CC 38-20....And one of the reasons for the loss was there were too many players on CC going both ways .   This year things could be different...

Game four.....Del Oro Vs. California....at 8 P.M.....Del Oro went 4-6 last year and got bombed by Granite Bay 50-8 and Cardinal Newman outscored DO 52-25, but there will be improvement at Del Oro.California went 7-5 and gave De La Salle a game before loosing 21-14...Cal lost a lot but they have plenty of talent stepping up and Cal will be tough and should be ready.

Heritage looked good considering they had practice and then speed training prior.  Concord has some very good receivers and a good QB.  We had the normal dropped passes but so did Concord.  Our starters on defense did very good.  Again, it was only a passing game with no pads or helmets.

His name is Diallo Lawson. He plays receiver and LB. The other is Davonte who plays TE. With those two in along with Bryce Walters (sweeper), McCoy (sweeper), Cody Cox (RB), and a few others it will be hard to cover them. The big question is who will be the starting QB to get the ball to them.

I know those two but this is a new kid i think his name is devin im not sure he has a nice size to him and is really smooth... i think he plays reciever.

His name is Devin Hardy.  He went to De La Salle before.  He runs good routes, has good hands and speed.  I think he is better than the reciever you guys had last year.  But who knows if you'll have a qb who can get him the ball because the one from last year was woefully inaccurate.

Devin Hardy has a concussion and has not been practicing much this week. They have a few good receivers this year. FalconsBaby hit it on the head, the QB from last year was horrible and hopefully the JV QB from last year will step up. He is accurate, runs good, and a good kid. The starter from last year is still inaccurate in practices and passing leagues.

Ohh okay i was wondering who he was i've seen him workout a couple of times and was impressed.. The quarterbacks just need a little more time to work maybe some extra sessions. The offense they run is almost 90% run well it was mainly last year so the quarterbacks did nothing but hand it off... i remember reading stat lines in the paper and the quarterback would only have 7 or 8 attempts per game so maybe some extra sessions would help hopefully.

im not tryin 2 stir up the pot..but i think your comment about heritage running 90% of the time is exaclty why they wont win the bval title..the strength of pitt every year on defense is stoppin the run..if u look at the teams that have had success against pitt its those teams that can air it out..of course im biased in my opinion..but i think if the patriots want a shot at the title they need 2 have a plan b..besides just runnin the ball against pitt..im excited for this season and ive seen pitts team up close already and coach mo got them boys in great shape..goodluck 2 all the bval cause i dont think anyone is goin 2 knock off the champs..

I agree with you 100%. Last year it seemed like even if the run was not working they still continued to do it. It was almost as if the opposing coaches knew what was coming and knew that there was nothing else after the run, and like i said the times they did pass the ball the qb wouldnt be confident enough to really air it out so it was a little dump off here or check down there. If you look at max preps stats from last year im sure there was no more than about 2 games if that in which the qb had over 100 yards.. They have to make the offense more versatile. With that being said in the practices i've seen thats exactly what they have done opened up the playbook and having more options. It should be exciting to watch

Pittsburg hosts the real Jamboree. All Heavywieghts. Come out to Pirates Stadium Friday night Aug. 28th and see some real football.
