With Eric Dargan out for Pittsburg, it didn't seem to make much difference last Friday night as the Pirates rolled over Fremont 51-6....But this Friday night is a different story as Heritage has the weapons to give Pittsburg a ball game.....And what about Liberty coming off a tie with a stuborn Oakland team...there game with Antioch is going to be close and Deer Valley cruise's by Freedom who gave College Park a rough time before loosing..
Pittsburg Vs. Heritage.....Pittsburg 26.... Heritage 20.... The Pirates face a real test which is very similar to the Berkeley game...
Freedom Vs. Deer Valley.....DV 41...Freedom 19.....As hard as Fredom try's, DV is just too much for them to handle..
Antioch Vs. Liberty....Liberty 21...Antioch 20.....This game could go either way and it all depends on which team shows up for Antioch..the one that wants to win or the other..

Bluedog, obviously, despite Dargan out you still are a believer in Pitt winning it. More so if you compare this game as being like Berkeley, still Pitt will have the edge. The Berkeley game was lost by two pts just because Pitt who had ball possession is last 4 minutes couldn't convert on a long pass to the side on 3rd down and 4th dwn on the 25 yds. Galli was rushing for the kill when there was still 3 minutes to play; he could've just played for 1st down to get them closer to goal and they could have won it on the run or short pass. They lost because of a bad call at that pt. There was enough time but coach rushed for the kill that didn't work. I don't think Galli will make the same mistake again.....see you at the games this Friday; we're hoping Heritage will fill up their stands this time...be early coz parking is a problem due to construction work....see ya!

I give Antioch their props, they played a great game. They were tough and if they continue playing the way they did they will be tough to beat. Every team will have a bad day and unfortunately it was Liberty's. Friday's game did not reflect how Liberty can play. Antioch came to play and Liberty did not. Liberty will regroup and several key players that were sick and injured will be healthy for next weeks game. Good luck to both teams and who knows maybe both teams will have an oppurtunity to meet up again.

Bluedog, we're both right with Pitt winning over Heritage but the blowout win 46-20 might have caught you by surprise. Pitt's tough schedule with quality losses made them stronger alright and that's without Dargan. Breon Butler, he's the other star running back---told ya someone or the team will step up.
Calpreps prediction with a Heritage win 24-23, they missed it by thousands of miles....
Next test, DV next Friday; if Pitt plays the same way they did, I wouldn't be surprised if DV gets blown away..

Kriat....You were right...some one did come out of the wood work for Pittsburg and that 46-20 victory sure made a statement....I thought the way things were going that Deer Valley would go undefeated and now that thinking went up in smoke....Butler has made his presents know and I thought that the game would be a lot closer, so those looses in preseason just seasoned the Pirates. And what do you make of Antioch.....they loose to oakmont and turn right around and rip Liberty apart...Hot and cold..What next?

Why is that Antioch who has not played nobody all year head of Pittsburg who played top teams in Northern California, yes they did destroy Liberty but come on now when has Liberty been in the race to win BVAl,or even Antioch, when was the last time that happened. Can anybody tell me that please, but i beat tht u cant because both of those programs dont play good enough teams to win BVAL.

Pitthigh.....All schools schedule games at least two years in advance and a lot has to do with how much talent the future may have....Both school's could try to schedule Granite Bay, Del Oro, Grant just to name a few, but those schools may not be interested due to both schools W/L record...And there is no point in scheduling teams that will tear you apart....Some schools seem to have a steady flow a talent while others struggle....Its been about 10 years since Antioch has forged a top team and Liberty even longer then that....there are a lot of kids in both area's that could help turn the schools fortunes around, but they choose not to play...

Eventhough DV is on top now, the BVAL is up for grabs. All teams in this league has the talent to win the division, it all boils down to who shows up to play. Regardless of what people think both Antioch and Liberty has the potential to beat the top team, they just need to play hard and continue 4 quarters of it. Looking at the stats on Maxpreps both Antioch and Liberty are in the top as players for this division in passing and rushing. So the talent is there.

The game of the week takes place this coming Friday as Deer Valley and Pittsburg face off. In the beginning of the 2009 Campaign...it sure appeared that Deer Valley was going to go undefeated as Pittsburg had lost Eric Dargon...In the Granite Bay game, Eric was all over field on both defense and offense and now Mr. butler arrives and the Pirate fortunes have made a turn...Butler and team ran all over Heritage which wasn't expected..don't let anybody fool you Deer Valley has talent and may just keep on rolling. And we will see if Antioch can continue its winning way at Freedom and if Liberty can slow down heritage...
Pittsburg Vs. Deer Valley.....Pittsburg 31...DV 27......this game could go either way and may well decide the BVAL champ...
Freedom Vs. Antioch.....Antioch 27...Freedom 19....Freedom is slowly coming on and is playing better ball each week...It too bad that they got off to a bad start against Amador...Antioch in the mean time turned Liberty every way but loose last week and faces a improving Freedom team.
Liberty Vs. Heritage.....Heritage 34...Liberty 14...A back yard battle in which the Patriots rebound from last weeks loss toPittsburg

I've been looking at the stats on maxpreps, and antioch leads the leauge in rushing with two of the top running backs in league. Their D-Linemen also hold some of the highest stats in the leauge. so antioch has the talent they just have to want it bad enough.

Smith55......Antioch is a dangerous team and they proved that by knocking off college park 37-34, but at the same time you never know which team will show up...they are running out and cold...Look at last week when they polished off Liberty...This week they face a improving Freedom team and they can go 2-0 in league play if they come to win...

Yes DV does have talent but they are in a way of a train and that is what Pittsburg has shown in the past two weeks as they have beating there opponets by 21 point.Breon Butler has show that he is one of the top backs in the BVAL and Robert Jiles, have you guys seen this kid play,he is a very talented reciver and is well respected by teams. He shown that he culd make big plays on offense and defense as well. The Pirates have also showed people that they can stop teams from scoring, and Heritage runs the same offense as DV so that should not be to hard for the Pirates to stop because Pitt really held them to 14points the whole game, but Heritage left there starters in which scored on the third team.So DV should have there hands full with trying to score because they can only run, they have not show that they can pass the ball at all,and the Pirates seem to know how to stop the run very well so it will not be easy for DV.So what do you guys think about Pitts offense who putt up 46points on a team who they were suppose to lose to in suome eyes, well should I say a lot of peoples eyes

I'm not really sure who is going to win this game. It should be a good one though. It is always hard to bet against the Pirates, but this DV team looks like the best one they have had in years. The winner will have the inside track on the BVAL championship, so it is a huge game for both teams. DV has a chance for a much higher NCS seed than Pitt should they win, due to Pitt's rugged preseason schedule and 3 early losses. DV should be hungrier, but Pitt has the big game experience.

look for Freedom to be ready this week to give Antioch a run for there money. They have been improving and were 2 penalties away from being down late in the 3rd to DV 28-24. New Qb this week due to injury but the young kid has the tools to possibly lead this upset. If the defense can minimize big plays Freedom could get their first win of the year.

antioch knocks off freedom, DV comes back on pitt, and hertiage smashes liberty this leaves antioch and DV with a 2-0 record in league games, pitt, heritage are both 1-1 and freedom and liberty come into league with an 0-2 record. this friday should be a good game with heritage and antioch, I think that will be the one to watch. Pitt should come up with a win against freedom and DV won't have to much of a problem with liberty.

Smith55...I think you are right on the money...It appears that Antioch has got its act together so the Heritage game should be real exciting...
