Al Davis is a confused SOB! If he thinks he is only 20 years older than Mike Tyson, he's bad in math. Mike was born in 1966, Al was hatched in 1929. Lincoln Terrace Park, green spot of the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, was a haven for Yiddish-speaking immigrants and 1st-generation Americans in the 1920s and '30s. Such legendary tough guys as literary critic Alfred Kazin hanged out in Lincoln park. By the time Tyson came along, Brownsville was far from heavenly. Tyson's youth was hard in the extreme, Davis's was not.

I don't know Fogey. He might be confused with his math but his tales of Lincoln Terrace Park are not that farfetched. I grew up not too far from there and used to play baseball and basketball as well and while it was for certain a tough area during my youth ('60's and '70's), from what I've heard, it was pretty tough back in the '20's and '30's as well when Italians and Jewish youths ran rampant. As a matter of fact it was pretty darn terrifying. Quite a few of those Jewish and Italian bangers went on to become part of this little group known as Murder Inc. You know those guys responsible for most of those mob killings back in those days. Brownsville was rough back then and probably still is not a place you want to visit today - unless some massive regentrification has taken place.

Reading the transcript of this interview jogged my memory:
I'm not as old as Al Davis but certainly older than Mike Tyson. And I have some old snapshots of me in a baby carriage taken in Lincoln Terrace Park. I was born in Brownsville (Ralph Avenue) which is probably a only a long Jamarcus Russell pass from that park.
Despite the mess of the past six seasons, a very happy 80th to Mr. Davis (BTW, 7/4 is also George Steinbrenner's (79th) birthday)!

He meant at the time. Stop messing with Al. He knows what's up. You don't.
