Associated crime that comes with it? The current crimes associated with marijuana comes from its prohibition, not from the effects of the drug or the actions of the users themselves. This is not Crack, Meth, or Heroin we are talking about. Marijuana users don't hold up people looking for money for more weed. It is not expensive to get high on marijuana, just ask your teen ager who can by it any time at school, since prohibition feeds an underground market that does not ask for I.D.. The most someone who wants to be high all day could spend is about $10. It cost more to be high all day from Starbucks than from marijuana. What is with the reefer madness?

The crime here is the prohibition of cannabis. Keeping cannabis illegal while tobacco and alcohol are distributed freely is *MURDEROUSLY STUPID*.

Making cannabis legal, big deal! After all, it’s just a “High,!” Right! But, what’s wrong with cocaine, heroin, opium, meth, LSD or any other chemical form of getting high? There are also several drugs that are legally prescribed that are not available to everyone who just want them. I believe it’s just a matter of preference. The thing to think about is, what quality of society do we want? Drug addicts do so by their own choice and unfortunately, they become unemployable and a negative influence on our community. Who will hire a drug addict, who will hire any person using any form of drugs? It’s just another thing to think about, but who wants their kids using any of these chemicals? We could reduce the prison population by legalizing armed robbery, breaking and entering, car theft, fraud and several other crimes. Is that what we really want? I don’t think so.

Are you comparing heroin and meth addicts to pot heads?
Really?
You are being sarcastic about legalizing armed robbery to insinuate that there is a comparison between legalizing marijuana? No one said, lets make crime legal. If there is someone in jail for doing nothing more than possession or consumption of pot and nothing more, I don't want to pay for their stay. They don't deserve that kind of punishment, and I hope that these types of inmates don't exist. But if they do, damn! release them.
But no one said anything about letting violent criminals go. For you to go there, you show just how week and simple minded your argument is.

Yeah, I'm sure that these fine folks who drench our country with pot and drugs, and ruin our state and federal parks by growning pot, will be sure to comply with all laws and related tax obligations regarding pot legalization.

Read up on some history, genius...
Machinegun Kelly and Al Capone were products of alcohol prohibition. Their ilk has been mostly replaced by Anheuser Busch.
Today they provide theme parks, not Valentine's Day massacres.
Ya see?

How ignorant could you be? You clearly have no knowledge of recent history regarding pot and drug use in California. Don't you realize what the Mexican Mafia and Columbian Drug Lords control? Geesh ... Get off your duff, and off your progressive blogs, and subscribe to some newspapers. Even the (liberal) New York Times will give you an overview of the drug war that you have clearly missed.
Your ignorance is unbelievable.

Part of the idea of legalization and regulation is to reduce the demand from the Cartels, which, in turn, reduces their revenue. We have no interest in collecting from them. A very large percentage of cartel income comes from the marijuana black market. Remove the black market, cripple the cartels. It's as simple as that.
