Writing as a Chevron investor, my opinion is this company realizes by going after back taxes, such action will affect not only Bay Area education and firefighting efforts, but also harm its employees' families and Chevron, who depend upon these vital services.  It is hoped that Chevron is strong enough financially to absorb its tax overpayment, and will be treated as fairly as possible when these matters occur.
