Smokey, I think I need a vacation!  I'm starting to remember these crook's names!  I thought the name of the female suspect was familiar so I googled it.  Do you remember this story from the Brentwood Press back in Sept. 2007 when these folks tried to assualt a police officer?  Christina Esver was involved in that one too!  She was apassenger in the Ford Explorer that drove straight at a policeman who approached the car because the occupants were involved in an assualt with a deadly weapon.  After trying to ram the officers vehicle, they went on a high speed chase before finally being apprehended.  What was she doing out of prison??????????????????????????????????? Here's the link to the old story if it works: http://www.brentwoodpress.com/article.cfm?articleID=17490

This is probably why the city is willing to spend the money on that assistant D.A.

The Police and Citizens are doing a great job as most of the crime stories lately have suspects identified or in custody.  The penalty phase, the parolee monitoring, and the rehabilitation part of it sure stinks!  The police and the good citizens deserve a break!  Hopefully that Deputy DA will help. When does he ride into town, Stoney?

That's right. The correct title is Deputy District Attorney. Sounds better than Assistant D.A. Does he or she get to wear a badge? Additional funding which I assume will pay his or her salary will be included in the budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1. Wasn't the budget on the city council's agenda last night?

We'll have to go over to the City Council thread and check.  Sometimes there's a lag because people watch the meetings later on the internet so there may not be any info posted about that yet.  The sooner they get the new Deputy D.A., the better though.

Hopefully, after the deputy rides into town, the number of serious crimes will eventually go down and we can avoid the need for a town hall meeting of angry citizens. But if we do end up having one I doubt that most of the people's last names would be Johnson.

I,m not sure I understand this deputy thing. 1.We pay for another deputy. 2. The deputy only works on cases for Antioch? 3. Does that mean the other deputies don't take Antioch's cases? 4. Since the deputy is really working and being paid (whether wages or benefits) by the county won't they have final say what cases to work on? I guess I just don't get it!

"What was she doing out of prison???????????????????????????????????" From what I've read, she wasn't actually charged with anything in that incident. They just got her for some unknown outstanding warrant.

I was under the impression that the city hired a part-time D.A. to ONLY prosecute crimes in Antioch. If his/her check comes from the county then Antioch will be picking up $100,000 of it. Hopefully this will have a long term impact on crime in town. Word will travel quickly if these people are not let off with the minimum sentence. I know that now adays, when you go into court, the judge almost always gives you the minimum sentence to prevent cases from going to trial. I understand it's a money thing, but this is getting a little rediculous. This woman had an out standing warrant(means she had a prior offense for something) before the police chase incident. Then she picked up a case for that incident. Now, she is back on the streets committing more crimes. Although I don't agree with their logic, but why not commit crimes if there are no consequences? Hopefully the new D.A. can change the pattern a little bit. Maybe 4Antioch can elaborate a little for us about who pays the new DA and what he/she will do. It is however nice to hear that these people are being caught. I think that the APD does a great job of finding these crroks and catching them. Now if we can just get them to be punished, maybe they can put a small dent in the rising crime stats.

My apologies to the young woman.  I guess I was of the assumption that in most cases, if you got your name in the paper in means you either did something good or something bad.  Since the occupants of the car reportedly tried to ram their arresting officer, I erroneously jumped to the conclusion it was something bad.  My bad!  I guess when it comes to crimes, you could get your name in the paper, maybe twice in this instance, for doing nothing.  Maybe next time she'll get her name in the paper for speaking out against crime and helping to educate other youths about the negative side of that kind of lifestyle.  Of course, if we never punish her, I highly doubt that will ever happen. IMHO, we're doing nothing to motivate these people to change.  It is ridiculous, Clean.

My home was broke into two times in one week! We recently moved to a new house and the one we're moving out of has been broken into twice, once last mon. and again on tuesday! I have lived in this town my whole life and never have I seen it this bad! I have to say the police dept. was very helpful on both occasions, They even let our daughter help them look for prints:)  I just wish people could have more respect for others and thier property!!! The people that did this still have not been found but we hope they are soon. I'm not at all hoping to get our things back just hoping these [bleep]s are caught and punished!
