Just a reminder to everyone that City will be having a 4th of July Celebration in the downtown area again this year.  There will be a car show, parade, fireworks and much more!  For those on planning to attend, just be aware that as of approximately 1400hrs most of downtown will shut off to vehicle traffic.  All of 4th street will remain open but most streets north of 4th street from D St to I St will be closed for the parade and event. However, many of the Rivertown Business District stores will be open for business during this time.  Once again, I am asking for everyone's patience in dealing with the traffic and/or parking in the area as I am expecting a large influx of people who are choosing to stay local this holiday weekend due to the high gas prices.  Our officers and volunteers will be making every effort to get everyone in and out of the event/area as safe as possible.  If you and your family are planning on coming on down to join us for the day and are planning on staying through the fireworks, I would try parking on one of the side streets south of 4th street and west of L St.  Westbound W 4th street is usually the fastest way to get out of the area when the event is over.  Parking will be allowed in the overflow lot and dirt parking lot at W 2nd and L St as well.  And one important thing to remember is that ALL FIREWORKS ARE ILLEGAL in Contra Costa County.  Please be safe and enjoy your holiday weekend!!!!!!!
