around 9pm i was driving up to Savemart on 18th and there was 4 or 5 cop cars and 2 ambulances at the El Porton Restaurant anyone know whats up with that?
Oh great another franchised chain Mexican restaurant. Like we really need another one. We liked Gunthers Grill. The food was like home cooking. Just like Matchmaker on 10th st. We will miss Gunthers and the owners. They were always polite and the service was superb.
Matchmaker is a slop hole. We ate there 3 monts ago, and will never be back. Dirty and filthy. Food was discusting and not to mention hairy, long and black.Â
I never ate at Gunters grill. I don't go out much to eat, but when I do there are some things I expect. 1 - Clean restaurant, and comfortable atmosphere 2 - Courteous and friendly staff (to patrons and to each other), and 3 - Of course Great Food, as well as an establishment that is able to prepare/change entres within reason (meaning add this, or substitute this for that, etc). Okay, okay, more than 3 things, but that's what I look for. I hope that the new Bases Loaded going up downtown Antioch is able to deliver this. Will be checking it out.

The "El Porton" restaurant took over the building that once was "Gunter's Grill."

I agree, those are the things I look for in a restaurant too. Bazooka Joe does not condone the practice of sticking gum under the tables! :)

He doesn't condone it, but does he practice it?

I have seen BJ with the gum behind his ear. I think he saves it for later. Miser?
