EBAL Champions

It's amaging to me that there isn't any coverage in this mornings sports section of Valley Times newspaper regarding the clinching of the EBAL championship by the 21-2 Livermore High School Boy's Baseball team. The accomplishment is incredible on so many levels and yet your paper chose not to menthion it. This team has been ranked as high as #2 in the state. This is a team that the entire East Bay could rally behind. They just posted the best record in the schools 116 year history and no mention. They just clinched their first all EBAL title since the Carter administration and no mention. The saddest part is that if a team from Pleasanton or San Ramon or Danville would have done exactly the same thing, I beleive this mornings paper would have mentioned it.

Since I can't find a way to contact the Valley Times directly, I had to post this rambling message. Hopefully, someone at the Valley Times or Contra Costa Times or the Bay Area Newspaper group reads this and repairs the damage felt by many in the proud Livermore community.

First, let me congratulate Livermore on their great season. Brings back memories of when Randy Johnson was a Cowboy.

Now, that said, I don't understand your consternation regarding the CONTRA COSTA Times not covering the winning of this championship. Last I remember, Livermore is in ALAMEDA County. While the CC Times certainly covers some topics outside of the county line, I don't think they can be expected to cover EVERYTHING outside the county. While Livermore winning the EBAL Championship is a great and wonderful achievement, I don't feel the Times should be castigated for not "covering" it. I agree that had a Danville or San Ramon team won the title, the CC Times would have covered it. that said, I'm not entirely convinced that had Amador, Foothill or Granada won the title that it would have been covered by the Times.

I think the answer is either a Livermore based newspaper or an Alameda County based newspaper. Perhaps then, you would get the coverage you desire.

Livermore has been great this year. Even though they are not in Contra Costa County, it seems that the Times has written about them at times. High-school baseball coverage in the Times is always hit or miss. Maybe "concerned" will post some reports of their games for us.

Livermore gets decent press, even if they are from Alameda Co. If they perform well at NCS, then I'm sure the Times will be covering them closely. They have had a great 2-year run so far, and should not be worried about their press coverage. Enjoy the success and keep playing well.
