AP 5/26: “The United States, the top greenhouse gas emitter in the G8 and the only leading industrialized nation that has not ratified the Kyoto Protocol,……” AP, 5/26: “Scott Fulton, deputy assistant administrator at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, called for commitments from heavily polluting emerging economies……” AP, 5/26: “We've not been sitting on our hands by any means," Fulton said. "We understand and recognize the INPERATIVE associated with this issue." Too many learned people acknowledge the evidence of global warming, to just casually dismiss it as a “liberal environment conspiracy.”

Global warming exists and has existed in a cycle as demonstrated historically.  What is really at debate is the cause of global warming.  Just because "greenhouse" (e.g. carbon dioxide) emissions are increasing and the ice caps are melting, does not mean that the greenhouse emissions CAUSED the global warming.  It is just as likely that ANOTHER cause is responsible for both the increased temperature and the increased greenhouse gases. Let's look at a simplistic analogy.  Would you say, for example, that the light from the sun is caused by the heat from the sun (or vice-versa)?  Or would you say that the fusion of atoms in the sun causes both the light and the heat from the sun? There's another more familiar analogy: Since when ice cream consumption goes up so do rapes, some people might think that ice cream is the cause of rapes.  A more likely explanation however, is that warm weather causes a behavior change in people which allows for better ice cream sales and, unrelated to ice cream, an increase in rapes.

How you doin' AFrank?  Good God, am I the only one on this freekin forum that believes there may be a connection between human activity and recent global warming? You know, I got people telling me that climate change is a left wing conspiracy created by Al Gore, so that he and his minions can take over the world. Consider this: essentially, all the countries of the world showed up at the Kyoto Protocol to discuss Global warming and how to limit greenhouse gases. Are all these people ignorant alarmist? America sent a delegation too. If this administration doesn't believe the data, why bother to attend? I have seen just recently, that 850 U.S. cities have taken it upon themselves to address greenhouse emissions .... since the Bush administration won't do it. Must be a bunch of nutcases. Huh? "Light from the Sun, heat from the Sun?" What? I think we both know that light and heat energy are two different levels of energy.... or frequency, in the electromagnetic spectrum created by the fusion of hydrogen atoms in the interior of the Sun. Your ice cream analogy was great. I got one for you. There is a connection between the increased consumption of ice cream and the hole in the ozone. It has been determined that large quantities of ice cream have a sufficient cooling effect on the atmosphere, which in turn inhibits the chemical reaction of CFC's and ozone. So let's eat more ice cream.  If the ozone layer above Antarctica was seriously depleted by human activities, why is it such a great leap of faith to believe human activity may be contributing to harmful climate change? Best regards, Chewy

Invasion vs Environment - Water One of the uncounted costs of the invasion of illegal aliens is the impact on water supplies. As a result, the San Gabriel Valley is looking at water rationing very soon, unless we have a wet winter. http://www.contracostatimes.com/california/ci_10520946 (see poll http://forums.contracostatimes.com/poll/what-should-we-do-with-immigrati... ) Tauscher, Torlakson, DeSaulnier  - Selling Mexifornia at Bargain Basement Prices RealAmerica
