Andrew Walter (Raiders QB of the future past) and Jamarcus Russell (Raiders QB of the future present) meet Michael Vick (Raiders QB of the future future?) ....Not likely.

......Not likely. Vick needs money now so he'll go to the highest bidder and the Raiders need more time to pass judgement on their QB of the future present. There will be other potential QBs of the future becoming available in the near future.
It will be interesting to see how much interest there is in Vick. I think initially he is going to be surprised about the current state of his market value. If he is re-instated this year he could be on the market again next year.

Thanks for bringing an actual new, well sort of new, topic up. No one will want to throw big money at this guy after such a long lay off in his prime. I don't think he was all that effective as a QB before the layoff. He would make an awesome 'Slash' though. That is, if he still has it in him after his time away. It will have some effect no matter what. I think he goes to the team that lets him compete at QB on a short term deal. I would love to see him in the 'slash' role here.
Thanks Gasbag,

I agree with you on Vick in the slash role but would he be satisfied with that?
He is probably looking at something near the vet minimum with performance incentives.
I think he is most valuable to a bad team where he can instantly make a difference with his running.
In the one below someone makes the case for him going to Dallas.

Vick's career passing numbers look just like those of Jamarcus (Completion % 53.8 vs 53.9, YPA 6.7 vs 6.4, TD to Int ratio 1.42 vs 1.25, career QBR 75.7 vs 73.9) but after six seasons it appears MV has plateaued as a passer. Perhaps a different organization could change that. His yds per attempt rushing,7.4, tops his YPA passing, 6.7.

Well done with JR/Vick comparison stats. I think it says alot about Vick as a QB regardless of the layoff factor. Beyond that, it all depends on whether he still has anything left to offer. Quick twitch guys like that have historically floundered after long layoffs. In boxing, Ali took all of his punishment after his 3yr hiatus, and Mike Tyson was a shell of his former self after his prison stay. Only the brute strength clubbers like foreman have come back from long layoffs and made some noise. I know that's boxing but, I can't think of another example of a successful come back from a long layoff in football, at least off the top of my head right now.
Alot of it depends on his mental state and what he thought about while away. Studies have shown visualizing practicing a sport is just as benificial as actually practicing. The studies I have read were with shooting free throws in basketball but, the point is the same. If his mind was elsewhere, we may never see the moves Vick once dazzled us with again. And that could make even a 'Slash' role too much for him now.
On the article: It may be Dallas but, the biggest question for them is Romo and that question wasn't answered in that article. I thought the article would eventually get to it and when it did, it just asked the question without saying a thing more, much less, answering it.
I think he will try for a team where he can compete, dare I say, Denver. That would cure a lot of the fan's apathy after the Cutler trade. BTW, I'm not sure Cutler is a winner anyway. I don't know if I would like to see Vick with Denver or not. I haven't read anything along these lines but, I haven't been looking either, so if they specifically negated the idea publicly, my bad. Denver is the exact type of team (looking for a QB and didn't draft one) that Vick will look for in my mind.

How about as another RB, WR, DE (pass rush specialist), DB for the Raiders.
Even though we are deep at RB, Vick would be an assett.
Trade in the works for a top runstopping DT or OL if we sign Vick.
Too much talent/athleticism to be on side lines.
