...and a writer is born. I have read this writers column since she was a student at Deer Valley High School and now a student at UC Davis. I give credit too all those who have supported her in her pursuit as a journalist. With this article, she has shown an unselfish commitment to those who have dreams of entering colllege and pursuing career goals. She speaks from first hand experience by addressing the issue and challenges faced by students when our government and colleges take from those who want to achieve. Our " leaders" need to invest in the future and quit robbing our society of its resources and talents by limiting the entrants through the gates of education by cutting scholarships and tuition increases. Shame on the government of California and shame on the college system. Whats more important? A new car for a regent member or the opportunity for a student who desires to contribute to society through higher education? To those students in college or about to apply, fight for what is your's and our societys future! PTTP.

I really don't know how I'm going to send my kids to college. The fees just keep going up. Even with all the savings plans and everything I cringe thinking about the day when I might have to tell them we just can't afford it.
