One of the More Bizarre / Extremist Campaigns of this wacky season is that of the Female Impersonator V. Kolakowski, and his run for Superior Court Judge in Alameda County as a ‘womyn’.
His Candidate’s Statement in the Sample Ballot just mailed out is a masterpiece of both duplicity and political doubletalk, designed to garner sympathy as a ‘Womyn’ from those who would be appalled by his deceit if he told the truth…
– That he is actually a Male (XY-DNA) who had His normal healthy Male Genitals Mutilated in to a grotesque mockery of the opposite gender, and now uses various Drag techniques to mimic the way some Women also use them to alter their looks.
His statement is a clear give away of His Radical Activist Pogrom of Misandry (Hatred of Men, Masculinity and Normal Heterosexuality) wherein He portrays Himself as an activist with “a commitment to public service and Equal Rights.”…
- And then launches in to Orwellian Doublethink Space by saying: “ Less then a third of the Judges serving on the Alameda County Superior Court are women, and it is time for another experienced woman to be added to the court.”
What Mr. Kolakowski does Not Explain, is how adding a self-mutilating Male Drag Queen such as Himself to the bench is going to address this imbalance…
In fact, Mr. Kolakowski declines to even mention how recently he decided to perceive himself a different gender than His DNA Proves Him to be, let alone discuss just how much ‘Experience as a Womyn’ He does have.
Of course the question of whether this Male should be Representing Himself as a Woman while running for Judicial Office (and appealing to Women to vote for Him as a ‘womyn’)…
– And whether it is ethical to avoid discussing the whole icky Male Mutilation + Hormones = New Womyn pretense that fuels His Campaign (check out the website, this is a true Pioneer of the Gender Thought Police)…
Is one that our Lame stream East Bay Media is censoring with another of its regular political news blackouts (at least in the Times / BANG network – the Frisco Crock-a-bull ran a story on Him)...
– but then that is standard for the way our bought and paid for ‘free press’ treats the ‘Vanilla’ (clueless suburban voter / taxpayer market) – to wit as ‘news mushrooms’ to be kept in the dark and fed (excrement deleted) - and who need to be herded to the polls on election day and told how to vote.
What is relatively certain is that this wanna be Radical Judicial Activist has a Major Political Thought Policing Pogrom waiting in the wings – and all it needs is the Contempt Power of a Judge to start Jailing anyone who fails to degrade their own gender and ancestry by pretending their own gender is anything other than a completely changeable “Perception” – and Not an Immutable Inherited DNA Based Scientific Fact.

The term transsexuality is somewhat confused in many people's minds with the terms homosexuality and transvestism. These three topics vary in complexity and dynamics for male and female participants. To make this discussion easier to delineate, I will initially deal with males, and leave the topics related to females for a later exploration.
Simple direct definitions are: 1. Homosexuality -- primary sexual attraction for members of the same sex by adults; 2. Transvestism - cross-gender dressing to improve sexual gratification and/ or reduce anxiety; 3. Transsexuality -- believing one's body is of the wrong sex (e.g. "externally I am a male who inside is really a woman that needs to be 'changed' surgically and hormonally.").
Homosexuality has many forms of expression. The essential element is the emotional and psychological conception of an adult that their primary sexual gratification would be in some sexual activity with a member of the same sex. This does not require any actual activity in fulfilling that desire. As with any major psychological emotional (dynamic) force in an adult, you can have a variety of manifestations. The expression of homosexuality is determined by two basic elements: 1. What that particular society supports or restricts, and 2. The degree of psychological health of the individual.
Transvestism is not just cross-dressing. Cross-dressing, when a male dresses as a female, can be part of a Halloween party, or some theatrical performance. It can be a way of seducing or manipulating some male to participate sexually with them who has no interest in homosexuality and thinks they're having some romantic activity with a female. Wearing makeup and some effeminate style of attire (but still clearly being a male) also is not transvestism.
In fact, none of the preceding is transvestism. Transvestism involves an emotional need that requires a male to wear female attire to meet a sexual need or reduce one's anxiety. There are various forms of transvestism which can be either heterosexual or homosexual. To name just two forms (of many) would be: 1. A heterosexual male who will wear a woman's brassiere or panties while having some romantic activity with a woman, and 2. A married man with children who, with the help and support of his wife, will on occasion completely dress himself as a woman (makeup, wig, etc.). We even sometimes see conventions of such people who gather together with similar interests and activities. These men have no interest in functioning homosexually -- either in their fantasies and least of all, in their sexual behavior.
An adult man who is psychologically a transsexual is in a different category with a different expression of psychological problems. Transsexuality is far from rare and therefore deserves some discussion. As a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, I have seen transsexual patients in my private practice as well as while working as a consultant to a university and medical school program which evaluated and "treated" these individuals (at least, with surgery and hormone replacement).
Significant Numbers Of Homosexuals Seek Sex Changes
There are a significant number of male homosexuals who would like to be a female with a penis. There are others who would like to be completely transformed into a female, but can't arrange to have such a complex surgical procedure. Both groups will obtain hormones from various sources; often it will be illegally from a pharmacy.
The transsexual male who was not part of a university/medical school treatment program, will often take hormone treatment (self-prescribed and administered), and play a feminine role with unsuspecting heterosexual males (often as a prostitute). They will play the part as if they are a passive feminine object. Their approach has many masochistic behavioral qualities. However, their thinking about how they are tricking, fooling and using others has a clearly sadistic dynamic as well. Their histories almost invariably demonstrate a mother figure who is at least domineering, manipulative and controlling.
Such men have little to no relationship with their family. Unfortunately, their lifestyle has a clearly self-destructive quality. These individuals usually do not stay in any adequate psychotherapy program (i.e., once per week for at least three months). They also have significant problems in certain areas of reality perception; therefore, long-term intensive therapy is the best choice, and long-term supportive therapy with medication is the bare minimum required to prevent them from destroying themselves.
There is a smaller group of transsexuals that includes those individuals who have been involved with a university-sponsored, medical-school treatment program. They have had much more appropriate study and evaluation. In general, what takes place is that the individual applies to the program, and agrees to participate with full disclosure to one or more psychiatrists, social workers, psychologists and various medical specialists during the entire extended period of evaluation, treatment and follow-up. This usually will extend for about one year before surgical treatment is carried out. No medical or surgical intervention is begun until there is months-long prior evaluation and clearance.
My clinical experience in participating with the Wayne State University program has been corroborated by others at the University, as well as at Johns Hopkins University--a medical school even larger and with a longer-lasting program. The following will be a summary description of my experience that is typical of the cases seen at both of these university programs.
A single male in his middle 20's to early 30's with at least one college degree and some financial and professional success applies to the program. He has had some homosexual experience with partial gratification. He has attempted heterosexual activity with little sexual gratification, if any. His chief complaint is that as long as he can remember he has never felt that his body was "right." By the time he got to be an older teenager, he was certain that something was wrong with his body. The more he thought about it and explored the subject, the more he believed that he was actually a woman inside that needed to somehow come out and be expressed.
Cross-dressing, however, did not make him feel comfortable. He recognized that cross-dressing could produce problems for him socially and economically, so he avoided it.
He is a well-spoken and reasonable, dependable historian regarding the details he reports in all areas -- except how he feels about himself in terms of his gender and his body image. He describes himself as somehow feeling that something inside is trying to come out; that somehow or other, the "real self" is being restricted and limited. More and more "it" is conceived as the woman inside him who has somehow always been there. He thinks that some mistake in genetic expression or development (in some not understood way) has prevented this true womanly self from being expressed. It is as if the real woman inside of him is imprisoned.
This individual is not passive and effeminate in bearing, carriage, or in his approach to life. He is assertive and successful, and competitive socially and intellectually as a man (except in his pursuit of female companionship). He is convinced that he is a woman who somehow or other is trapped in a man's body. His external genitalia, he believes, are an impediment. He wants the body configuration and genitalia to be that of a woman. He desires the full quality of being a woman with all her curves and her qualities.
His discussion is not irrational. His desires, wishes and self-concept on a feeling level are presented in a logical manner. He does not have any scientific proof of his position; he "just knows" that he was meant to be a woman.
All tests by psychologists and psychiatrists in testing his judgment of reality (except in his body image) are within normal limits. There is no evidence of psychosis or any significant problems in any other area than his body image (related to gender only). He is cooperative and patient and helpful in his manner. His only area of insistence is concerning his belief about his body and the need to become a woman. He is not afraid of psychological and psychiatric evaluation. However, he is not interested in intensive psychoanalytic/psychotherapy for a period of months or years. He firmly believes that his problem is not psychological but that it is truly on an organic basis.
After the initial phase of evaluation and study, the patient is instructed to begin dressing himself and living his life (gradually more and more) as a woman. Despite the physical, social and economic discomforts, he is positive and cooperative in every way in the program.
During this entire period, the patient is followed by the medical and surgical teams and by the psychiatrist. This follow-up continues during each phase of the program, including the follow-up period after the completion of all surgical and hormonal treatment. The next phase is the beginning of hormone replacement. This is followed by the addition of surgical change of the perineum from that of a male to a female with a [bleep]. To do so, procedures are done to form it into a receptive organ with lubrication. This is followed by surgical intervention (if needed, usually) for breast enhancement, etc.
For a period of time after surgery, there is less tension and discomfort psychologically experienced by the patient. He begins to feel better about himself and hopeful about his future as a woman. Upon completion of the program and taking on a new life (which usually includes a legal change of his name), he feels relieved and hopeful and eager to continue his relationship in the follow-up part of this research.
Between six months to two years following the completion and healing of the surgery, the surgeons begin to request more evaluations from the psychiatric division of this program. The surgeons do not understand what is transpiring because the patient is now asking for more surgery.
During the entire pre-surgical treatment the only psychological problems that were clearly defined were related to body image. This is not insignificant from a psychodynamic standpoint. It was considered understandable as a logical response of somebody with this "organic" problem. Since there was no obvious psychological break with reality in any other area, the program continued with each individual.
However, now the surgeons and other medical team members begin to observe that although this patient is now considered a woman, he isn't satisfied with the job that was done. He feels that he now needs something more from medical science. He needs the size or shape of his calves, his hips, his arms or his breasts, etc. "improved." More and more it becomes apparent that no matter how successful the procedure and continued hormone replacement have been, it seems that each patient still feels that something is lacking -- that though they were now a woman, it somehow isn't enough.
However, after some minor attempts at surgical assistance by surgeons and endocrinologists, the surgeons finally refuse to do any more. In their judgment, nothing further should or could be done.
Typically, the surgeons were all pleased initially with the success of their transformation of a man into a nice--if not a beautiful--young woman. Now, the medical staff becomes dissatisfied with the patient's dissatisfaction, and they turn the case back to the psychiatric division to "solve" the problem.
The Problem Is Psychological, Not Organic
At this point in the process, I, along with other psychoanalyst colleagues, must tell the surgeons that the disturbed body image was not an organic at all, but was strictly a psychological problem. It could not be solved by organic manipulation (surgery, hormones), no matter how well-intentioned or brilliantly successful it was done.
In psychologically evaluating any patient, it is always important to understand how the patient sees himself. There are certainly age variations as well as gender and cultural elements involved in this evaluation. However, when an adult who is normal in appearance and functioning believes there is something ugly or defective in their appearance that needs to be changed, it is clear that there is a psychological problem of some significance.
The more pervasive and extensive is this misperception of oneself, the more significant is the psychological problem. The more the patient is willing to do extensive surgical intervention (especially when it is destructive), the more serious is the psychological problem. It may not be psychosis. It may not require psychiatric hospitalization. But the significance of the psychological difficulty should not be minimized by a patient's seeming success, socially and professionally, in other areas. This principle of isolated significant psychopathology indicating serious psychological problems (despite their ability to function in all other areas of life) is well known psychiatrically, historically, and by the judiciary.
This conclusion became so well established at Wayne State University that the program was eventually discontinued. The much larger and more extensive program at Johns Hopkins University and medical school in Baltimore, Maryland was discontinued for the same reason. The psychological problems that are focused on issues related to gender need to be better understood -- not denied.

NARTH President Addresses Misperceptions about NARTHJulie Hamilton, Ph.D.
The purpose of this article is to address misperceptions and/or misinformation regarding NARTH. Although some critics will remain skeptical and perhaps some even antagonistic, others desire accurate information. This article is written for the latter group, those who might be interested to know the facts about NARTH's mission and purpose.
NARTH is Not Anti-gay, nor is NARTH a Hate-Based Organization
Critics and antagonists have labeled NARTH, its leaders, and members as "bigots" and having "hatred" against homosexuality. Simply stated, these accusations are completely false. NARTH's leaders value and esteem both those who have embraced homosexual identities as well as those who seek change of orientation or identity. Many NARTH members originally became involved with NARTH because they had clients who needed help, and they had compassion and a desire to assist those clients in meeting their goals, even if doing so would bring criticism from others. Some became involved with NARTH because of their own personal experience with homosexuality, and others became involved out of love for their family members who struggled with issues of gender and sexual orientation.
Other members simply feel a scientific and ethical responsibility to present what science can and cannot say about homosexuality as well as to foster psychological care consistent with the best outcomes for those who seek it. Such care should be extended to all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation. In the spirit of diversity and anchored to the ethical principles of client self-determination and client autonomy, NARTH members are committed to providing scientifically grounded psychological care rendered in the context of compassion. While NARTH may disagree with a more popular worldview, and assert that homosexuality is not invariably fixed in all people, disagreement is not discrimination. Such attempts to label NARTH's position as "bigoted" or "hateful" are straw man attacks and are unsound.
NARTH Recognizes Client Diversity
NARTH values the individual's right to choose - both individuals who are comfortable with their homosexual identities and those who want to explore other options. NARTH acknowledges that some people are comfortable claiming a homosexual identity, and we respect their freedom to do so. At the same time, NARTH recognizes that others choose not to embrace a homosexual identity, are distressed by unwanted homosexual attractions, and would like to explore other options for their lives.
In our culture, those who are dissatisfied with their unwanted homosexual attractions and choose to pursue change are often treated with disrespect, mockery and ridicule, as are the therapists who try to help them. It is ironic that some of the people who defend the freedom to embrace homosexuality are the same ones who mock those who want something different for their lives. Tolerance and diversity mean very little if differing worldviews are excluded. NARTH believes that people who are dissatisfied with their unwanted homosexual attractions should be given the opportunity to choose their own path and to pursue change if they so desire. If content homosexuals are accepted, discontent homosexuals who pursue change should be equally accepted.
NARTH Therapists Honor Client Self Determination: Clients Choose Their Own Goals while Therapists Avoid Imposing an Agenda
NARTH defends the rights of clients to seek treatment for unwanted homosexual attractions. Individuals who are dissatisfied with their unwanted homosexual attractions and enter therapy seeking change should be respected and not be coerced into embracing identities which clash with their deeply held values or religious beliefs. All ethical codes for psychologists and therapists state that clients have the right to self-determination. This means that it is the client, not the therapist, who chooses the goals of therapy. NARTH exists to defend that basic right of clients. It is unethical for therapists to only offer "gay affirmative" therapy to clients who are seeking not to be affirmed in a homosexual identity but to receive assistance in pursuing a different identity. Although some professional associations advocate for therapists to use only a gay-affirming approach, NARTH believes that this is disrespectful, unethical, and potentially harmful to clients who want other options for their lives.
All too often, well-meaning, but ill-informed therapists tell their clients that they were "born homosexual" and cannot change, yet the scientific research reveals the opposite (Jones & Yarhouse, 2007; Spitzer, 2003). Homosexuality is not simply a matter of biology, and some people indeed make changes in their lives. Even the APA, in a brochure on human sexuality, acknowledges the lack of research supporting biological determinism of homosexuality.
There is no consensus among scientists about the exact reasons that an individual develops a heterosexual, bisexual, gay or lesbian orientation. Although much research has examined the possible genetic, hormonal, developmental, social, and cultural influences on sexual orientation, no findings have emerged that permit scientists to conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular factor or factors. Many think that nature and nurture both play complex roles....(p. 2)
Those who provide psychological care for this population have an ethical and moral responsibility to be scientifically informed and to provide care that is consistent with both psychological science and the highest ethical standards of our professions.
Just as we believe that clients have the right to pursue change and that the scientific research supports the evidence for change, NARTH believes that people have the freedom to pursue a homosexual identity or adapt in any way they desire for their lives. Ultimately, the client decides the path to take, and the therapist assists the client in accomplishing his or her goals. When therapists are unable to help clients pursue their personal goals, those therapists should make appropriate referrals to another professional who is able to do so.
Reorientation Therapy Includes Many Different Mainstream Approaches to Therapy
Reorientation therapy is simply psychological care aimed at helping clients achieve their goals regarding their sexual attractions, sexual orientations and/or sexual identities. Reorientation is not decidedly different from other therapies. There are many psychological approaches to helping clients with unwanted homosexual attractions. All approaches supported by NARTH are mainstream approaches to psychotherapy. The term "Reparative Therapy" refers to one specific approach which is psychodynamic in nature, but not all who offer therapy aimed at orientation change practice Reparative Therapy. Critics sometimes use the phrase 'reparative therapy' to describe reorientation therapy. This may be misconstrued to support a view pathologizing homosexuality, and that this is the only therapeutic modality used in reorientation therapy. Both inferences are incorrect. The members of NARTH are diverse in their training and in their approaches. Like other therapists, most clinical members of NARTH practice whatever type of therapy they were trained to practice, including but not limited to: interpersonal therapy, cognitive therapy, family therapy, behavioral therapy, EMDR, and psychodynamic approaches of which Reparative Therapy is one type. Quite simply, this is psychotherapy, nothing more and nothing less.
NARTH is often described by journalists with terms that are not used by NARTH or its members. For example, NARTH is sometimes "branded" as offering a "cure" for homosexuality, implying that NARTH views homosexuality as a disease. NARTH does not view homosexuality as mental illness; rather, homosexuality is an adaptation that is distressful for some people. Another inaccurate description is "conversion" therapy, a term not used by NARTH members. This term seems to imply some type of force or the idea of a therapist pressuring a client to change. NARTH therapists understand that psychotherapy should never be coercive, but should be offered in accordance with professional ethics and a respect for client self-determination. Neither do NARTH members offer or provide "aversion therapy." This form of behavioral therapy was used in the 1960's and 1970's to treat many different types of presenting problems, one of which was unwanted homosexual thoughts and feelings. However, aversion therapy was deemed unethical and was discontinued over 25 years ago, prior to NARTH's existence. NARTH encourages all of its members to abide by the highest standards of ethicality, which by definition would exclude any form of aversive therapy.
NARTH encourages its members to assist those who seek help for unwanted homosexual attractions, attractions which seldom occur in isolation from other issues commonly treated in therapy. More often than not, other issues become a part--and even the primary focus--of the care provided. Such issues might include past sexual abuse or trauma, family relationships, a weak sense of self, gender insecurity, depression, hopelessness, self-hatred, or any other issue that is problematic for the client. Many NARTH therapists report that once these other issues are addressed, issues regarding sexual attractions, identity, and orientation are easier to resolve.
While Success Rates are Similar to Some other Issues, Therapy for Unwanted Homosexuality Seems to be held to a Higher Standard
While studies on therapy for unwanted homosexual attractions seem to yield varying success rates, ranging from 30%-70%, these rates seem to be no different than success rates for many other therapeutic issues.1 For example, one study on outcomes in ministry settings (Jones and Yarhouse, 2007) revealed success rates that were comparable to a similar study on the treatment for depression. There is no question that depression should be treated, even though neither therapy, nor medication, nor a combination of both, yield success rates of 100%. Another example is that of personality disorders. It is commonly accepted within the therapeutic profession that personality disorders do not fully resolve, regardless of the therapeutic modality offered. While some forms of therapy appear more effective than others in treating personality disorders, it is clear that clients who are diagnosed with such disorders will continue beyond therapy to struggle with some issues related to their diagnosis. Yet, despite the fact that the condition is not completely alleviated through therapy, we do not hear of attempts to stop therapists from offering treatment for personality disorders.2
Similarly, in the field of addictions, where there is debate over both etiology and treatment, we find varying success rates, but we do not see any model of treatment to be successful 100% of the time. In fact, there is a high recidivism rate in the addictions field, yet the work continues undisputed. In addition, those who successfully receive treatment for substance abuse, eating disorders, and other behavioral addictions continue to describe themselves as addicts long after their therapy ends, and some will claim that label for the rest of their lives, even after the initial presenting problem is resolved. In many ways, reorientation therapy is quite similar to therapy for other issues. Yet, it seems clear that therapy for unwanted homosexuality is held to a standard higher than therapy for any other issue, a standard unattainable in the mental health field.
Therapeutic Attempts to Change Sexual Orientation are not found to be Harmful
Although the media and even some professionals have reported otherwise, the APA Task Force recently reported that the research on whether or not change attempts are harmful is inconclusive.3 Although the six-member Task Force was made up only of people who are against orientation change efforts, they admitted that there is not enough evidence to say that it is harmful. They state, "There are no scientifically rigorous studies of recent SOCE that would enable us to make a definitive statement about whether recent SOCE is safe or harmful and for whom" (p. 83). Yet, they say, despite the fact that there is no conclusive evidence of harm, that therapists should only offer affirmative therapy because some clients report having been harmed. It might be important to note, since they are basing their recommendation on client reports, that many clients have also reported being helped. This, however, is not mentioned in the report. In fact, they did not include individual case studies in their review.
Although the APA Task Force reported that their review of the possibility for harm was inconclusive, there are in fact research studies which conclude that this type of therapy is not harmful. For example, the Spitzer (2003) study found no harm, the Jones and Yarhouse (2007) study on ministry groups found no harm, and the Karten (2010) study found no harm.
With regard to individual reports of harm, it is important to understand the field of therapy. Participating in any form of therapy may be stressful as clients begin to address and deal with the issues of concern to them. In other words, whether clients are seeking treatment for depression, anxiety, marital issues, family issues, addictions, etc., there is a chance that some clients will feel worse before they feel better. Therapy often assists clients in looking at issues more closely and directly facing the problems in their lives in order to move forward. It is a commonly accepted fact that entering therapy and addressing concerns, whatever those concerns may be, might at first be uncomfortable. Therapy for unwanted homosexual attractions is no different. Some clients report encountering stress as they pursue their goals, yet many clients also report that the stress was well worth the outcome, just as clients addressing any other issue report that the hard work of therapy is well worth the results. Psychological care for those distressed by unwanted homosexuality (when practiced by an ethical therapist) has not been shown to pose any greater risk for harm than therapy for any other issue.
On the note of harm, it interesting that it is considered acceptable within the mental health field to assist a five year old boy in identifying as a girl or to administer hormone treatment to a ten or twelve year old child to physically change the child's biological sex,4 but offering talk therapy to an adult who would rather not be homosexual is thought to be harmful. Researchers admit that homosexuality is not biologically based; whereas, we know that gender is biologically based. How is it ethical to help a child change his or her biologically-based gender, but yet questionable to help an adult deal with an unwanted sexual orientation? Perhaps the accusations of harm have more to do with worldview than with science.
NARTH is Neither Right-Winged, nor is NARTH a Religious Organization
Although the critics often describe NARTH as a right-wing, religious organization, NARTH is neither right-wing, nor religious. Rather, NARTH is a scientific, secular organization. The membership of NARTH is very diverse, as is the governing board, including people of many different faith traditions and people of no faith tradition. While NARTH members vary in their religious viewpoints, the commonality among its members is their commitment to defend the scientific research, despite the trend in our culture of promoting the message that people are born homosexual and cannot change. Some activists for gay causes believe that if the message that people can change is made known, it might lead to further discrimination. We believe that there are better ways of addressing discrimination than suppressing the message that change is possible. Suppressing this message only harms individuals who want other options for their lives. NARTH respects these individuals and upholds their rights to have accurate information.

Like other challenges, success is defined along a continuum ranging from a change in behavior to the reduction or even the elimination of unwanted homosexual attractions as well as changes in sexual orientation and sexual identity. What is clear is that outcomes are very consistent with the good research, from which only one conclusion can be reached: homosexuality is not invariably fixed in all people. The comparison is not intended to imply similarities between homosexuality and depression or personality disorders other than with regard to some outcome implications.
(3) Activists within some professional associations have attempted to persuade their associations to declare reorientation unethical, falsely claiming that this type of therapy is harmful. These claims of harm are not in any way grounded in research, but instead appear politically motivated and reflect a lack of familiarity with the research, which has been declared by the APA to be inconclusive.

Transgender woman leads race for judge (*The Chronicle published this story in June - but Nothing from the CC Times for Alameda Readers so far)

Victoria Kolakowski, who's running for Alameda Count Superior Court judge in a November runoff election, declares on her campaign Web site that she hopes to make history.
"If I am elected, I would be the first openly LGBT superior court judge elected in Alameda County, the first openly LGBT person elected countywide, and the first transgender trial court judge in the United States," it states.
The question is how much it should matter.
Kolakowski, 48, transitioned from male to female in 1989 during her last year in law school and had sex reassignment surgery in 1991.
Kolakowski says her gender is important in symbolism and inspiration... 'the transgender judge,'
But her gender is nonetheless likely to play a significant role in the campaign. Statewide LGBT organizations... Kolakowski, they say, represents a rare opportunity for the LGBT community.
"She's going to be the first elected transgender judge in the country," said Geoff Kors..."This is one of the Harvey Milk moments, where you can break a glass ceiling and put a transgender judge on the bench."
Kolakowski was born in Queens, N.Y., and raised in Brooklyn.... She lives in Oakland with her wife, whom she married in San Francisco in 2004, before courts ruled those marriages illegal, and in Oakland in 2008, after the state Supreme Court ordered counties to allow same-sex marriage.

Can you imagine walking into your child's classroom and meeting a teacher dressed in drag?
Neither can Congresswoman Judy Biggert (R-Ill.). She's part of a growing number of Republicans who are suddenly undecided about the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) after signing on to support it. Like many other GOP cosponsors, Rep. Biggert is having second thoughts now that Democrats are trying to tack on a provision that would force businesses to hire and protect cross-dressers.
"It's just in the schools... I worry about teachers," Congresswoman Biggert told Roll Call. With this radical new addition, GOP backing for the bill is slipping. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) is strongly opposed to the transgender protections, promising that he would change his vote from "yes" to "no" if the language isn't scrubbed.
It "changes the equation," he said. His colleague Rep. John Campbell (R-Calif.) agreed. "They probably lose me if they do... That just moves it too far. This is a very small number of people that do a very extreme surgery... I think employers have an argument [there]."
Back in 2007, Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) infuriated his base by pitching this same idea. Although homosexuals' were seething, he knew that the legislation wouldn't survive if the Left insisted on a transgender provision that both parties considered "too radical."
But with House Democrats squarely in Frank's corner, this year could be different. When asked about the GOP's dwindling support, Rep. Frank was smug. "Yes, I expect to lose votes, but we have votes to lose."
Of course, even without giving special rights to cross dressers, H.R. 3017 would still grant special employment rights to a small percentage of the population based upon their sexual behavior that is anti-business and anti-Christian.

The reality is that sexuality is not so black and white as our puritan society would have it, there are xxy's and there are xy's and xx's with hormonal differences in utero that define their sexual development and ultimatley their sexual identity. When doctors attend the birth of a baby with ambigous sexuality they regularily make quick thinking botched decisions about sex that child was supposed to be, then surgicaly "correct" and provide the parents with prescription hormones to seal the deal. Often they make a decision that the child grows up uncomfortable, wondering why the identify as the other sex. Many of these children grow up trapped inside a surgically defined sexuality that is not their own. But that aside, This kind of doctors proscribed sex change operation on babies is socially acceptable to most phobes like yourself, aka creeepers like yourself, uncomfortable with life in "the reality based community."

Alameda County judge's race offers voters two distinct candidates

OAKLAND -- The race to fill a seat on the Alameda County Superior Court bench offers voters two distinct choices and it's not only because one of the candidates is transgender.
Deputy District Attorney John Creighton and Victoria Kolakowski, an administrative law judge for the California Public Utilities Commission, have different opinions on what qualifications are necessary to become a judge and what the bench currently needs in a judge.
Kolakowski, the transgender candidate who won a three-candidate primary election in June, says her background -- both professional and personal -- will add a much needed splash of diversity to a court system filled with former prosecutors.
Creighton, who has the backing of roughly 80 percent of the judges in the county court system and an endorsement from the candidate who came in third place during the primary, says he has the legal experience -- more than 25 years in the district attorney's office and thousands of hours in trials -- necessary to run an efficient, compassionate and fair courtroom.
Both are vying to fill a seat left vacant after Superior Court Judge Stephen Dombrink announced he will be retiring when his term expires. And the race gives voters a rare opportunity to elect a judge rather than have one appointed by the governor.
While all judges in the county must seek re-election every six years, once on the bench most judges never face an opponent in an election.
Therefore,
Kolakowski says, the opportunity to elect a judge should not be wasted on a candidate that fits the mold of so many other judges in Alameda County: white, male and former prosecutor.
"What I have is a broad range of different types of perspectives, different experiences than what we see on the bench," Kolakowski said. "I agree that the race is about experience but it is different types of experiences that are important."
Kolakowski said her past political activism and background in civil court matters will bring a new perspective to Alameda County Superior Court and allow her to better deal with issues in more than just the criminal courts.
"A lot of people in our county realize there is more to our courts than just criminal cases, we need to have a different mix of people on our bench with different experiences," Kolakowski said. "I don't want to be accused of being an activist judge -- that is not what I would be -- but I can be an advocate in different ways, not in the courtroom but in the community."
Although Kolakowski has devoted an entire page on her campaign website to her possibly being the first transgender judge elected in Alameda County -- and talks about it frequently -- the 49-year-old said her desire to be a judge does not rest solely on that historic achievement.
"I bring it up because it matters to my community and I think it will have a positive benefit," she said. "I don't want to make it sound like it is the only thing but it definitely keeps me going."
Creighton doesn't dismiss the barrier his opponent could break but said selecting a judge must be based on the know-how of a candidate and not one's sexual orientation.
"We should have judges who are qualified," he said. "If they happen to be female, if they happen to be African-American or if they happen to be LGBT that's great but I don't think we should elect judges just because they are LGBT. ... We should be beyond that."
Creighton's proud of his experience as a district attorney and said his thousands of hours prosecuting criminals before juries gives him the skills necessary to be a judge.
He dismisses Kolakowski's criticisms that the Alameda County bench is not diverse and points to his endorsements from African-American judges, female judges, prosecutors and defense attorneys.
Even the Women Lawyers of Alameda County has endorsed him, Creighton said.
"There are an enormous amount of judges on the bench with civil backgrounds," Creighton said. "But keep in mind, the bulk of the work that the Alameda County court system does is unfortunately criminal."
Creighton said voters should consider skills in electing a judge.
"Judicial officers are not like politicians; it is a very specific skill set that is needed," he said. "You are trying to put someone in office that understands the laws and understands the procedures."
Those laws and procedures, ranging from the evidence code to criminal procedures, are not skills one can pick up quickly, Creighton said.
"It's complex and it takes years to know and understand," he said. "I have 25 years in court litigating cases; there is no substitute for that experience."

The Human Rights Campaign has given perfect scores to 97 large law firms for their protections and benefits for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees.
The nation’s top 200 law firms were invited to participate in the survey, and 130 agreed, according to a press release. Ninety-seven received 100 percent scores, making the legal sector the top industry in the campaign’s corporate equality index, according to the 2011 report (see page 81 for individual listings). Second place went to the banking and financial services industry, and third place to retail and consumer products employers.
Last year, 88 law firms got perfect ratings.
The survey relies on self-reporting, but the Human Rights Campaign will deduct points for a “significant official or public anti-LGBT blemish on the company’s recent record."
That hurt Foley & Lardner, since it provided legal help to groups opposing gay marriage in Washington, D.C., the Human Rights Campaign says. “Although the firm has a long history of pro bono support for LGBT causes,” the reports says,
“it decided not to abandon its representation of the anti-LGBT organization and has not provided HRC with evidence that such clearly discriminatory clients will not be engaged in the future.”
Absent the 15-point deduction, the firm would have received a perfect score.

In fact, the Massachusetts Legislature is considering the Transgender Rights and Hate Crimes Bill -- which would change our laws to force all citizens to accommodate these behaviors (and even promote them in our schools), and punish people severely who don't agree. Is this the right thing to do?
In addition, the Massachusetts Department of Motor Vehicles now allows "transgendered" people to have their drivers' licenses officially changed to the opposite sex. Is this a good thing?

Fitzgibbons, MD, is a psychiatrist and psychologist with over 25 years' experience dealing with same-sex attraction and related behaviors. Philip Sutton, PhD, is a psychologist who has done extensive research on the treatment of unwanted homosexuality. Dale O'Leary is an award-winning researcher, author, and lecturer. All three authors have with been active with NARTH (National Organization for Research & Therapy of Homosexuality) for many years.
This paper reveals many uncomfortable truths about a subject that most medical people unfortunately don't want to touch.

Abstract
Is it ethical to perform a surgery whose purpose is to make a male look like a female or a female to appear male? Is it medically appropriate?
Sexual Reassignment Surgery (SRS) violates basic medical and ethical principles and is therefore not ethically or medically appropriate.
(1) SRS mutilates a healthy, non-diseased body. To perform surgery on healthy body involves unnecessary risks; therefore, SRS violates the principle "primum non nocere (first, do no harm)."
(2) Candidates for SRS may believe that they are trapped in the bodies of the wrong sex and therefore desire, or more accurately demand SRS; however, this belief is generated by a disordered perception of self.
Such a fixed, irrational belief is appropriately described as a delusion. SRS, therefore, is a "category mistake"-it offers a surgical solution for psychological problems such as a failure to accept the goodness of one's masculinity or femininity, lack of secure attachment relationships in childhood with same sex peers or a parent, self-rejection, untreated gender identity disorder, addiction to masturbation and fantasy, poor body image, excessive anger, severe psychopathology in a parent, etc.
(3) SRS does not accomplish what it claims to accomplish. It does not change a person's sex; therefore, it provides no true benefit.
(4) SRS is a "permanent," effectively unchangeable, and often unsatisfying surgical attempt to change what may be only a temporary (i.e., psychothepeutically changeable) psychological/psychiatric condition.
At the very least, this should be required reading for every politician in the Massachusetts Legislature.

Details about his disguise were not immeidately available. No one was physically contacted or injured.
The suspect was described as short, in his 20s, with a thin build and dark brown or black hair.

“"If I am elected, I would be the first openly LGBT superior court judge elected in Alameda County, the first openly LGBT person elected countywide, and the first transgender trial court judge in the United States,"

The one Truly Curious endorsement for Office was in the Alameda County Superior Court judge race, between the Male Drag Queen Kolakowski running as a 'womyn' - and an opponent who most charitably can be described by observing that he is Not Kolakowski, but at least He admits to being Male.
Given that Komrade Kolakowski is a notorious Radical Demicrat Central Kommittee Insider (Klan Chieftan of the Thought Police), and this flyer seems to be running the party line for that particular cell - one wonders at how Mr. Kolakowski was not the one on the slate?

The publication by the Times today (Sunday 2-/24) of their latest endorsements, in which they list Mr. Creighton as their choice over the Male Drag Queen Kolakowski for Superior Court Judge - has just one little glitch...
The Times Has Yet to Actually Published the Endorsement Article (unlike their big banner headlines story supporting their favorite Demicrat Stooge - Bungo Jerry McNerney, or even their published endorsements of Sanitary District candidates) Despite the Oakland Tribune doing so almost a week ago.
In fact, there has been a virtual 'News' blackout about Mr. Kolakowski and his "Historic" attempt to become the First Male Drag Queen Activist Judge in Alameda County - with only one article copied from the Tribune and put inside the back page of last Sunday's Times local news...
Followed by the Appearance on the next Sunday of an endorsement added to the list in the Times for the Superior Court Judge position - without any background information provided for it.

Got my first campaign flyer from Superior Court Candidate John Creighton (the only one of the two Men in the race that admits he is Male) - and my oh my, talk about the lesser of two Evils.
Sems this Guy is a Director of the Abortuary Industry giant 'panned parenthood' - and so much more of a vile and bigoted natue, and he looks truly Faustian with the quasi van dyke beard photo. Personally, I would much prefer the lesser of two Elvis Impersonators.
Still - He Quoted the TRI VALLEY HERALD (also part of the Media News group - like the Times, only different) Endorsement from 10/21/10 in his flyer, which 'endorsement' has Yet to Run in the CC Times. Ahem.

Only days before the election - and while other branches of the 'Media-News' conglomerate have Published the Articles supporting their Endorsement in the Superior Court Judge Race - Yet the CC Times has Failed (Refused?) to Do So.
They have Published Background for endorsements for local Sanitary District and School Board seats, as well as county and state wide offices - but Nothing on the race featuring a Male Drag Queen running what He Calls a "Historic" campaign to become an Activist Judge (the Drag Queen part is historic, activism seems to be the norm now).
The Times includes the name of his opponent on their list of endorsements (the slightly lesser of two evils if ever there was), but Fails (Refuses?) to Publish the same Printed endorsement that ran in the Oakland Tribune, Tri Valley Herald and other outlets of the dead tree media.
You can find a Link on the CCT Web to the Oakland Tribune Article - but No Print Stories for delivery to the 'Vanilla' supporting the Endorsement, despite the Times doing so for virtualy evey other post down to dog catcher.

While appointees of President Obama have urged those who believe they are "transgendered" to lobby for sex-change surgery costs to be covered by Obamacare, a patient in the United Kingdom says all he should have been given under his country's nationalized health care was counseling.
"Based on my own experiences, I believe sex-change operations should not be allowed, and certainly not on the [National Health Service,]" said the patient, Charles Kane, whose story appears in a report on the Christian Institute website.
Kane continued, "People who think they are a woman trapped in a male body are, in my opinion, completely deluded. I certainly was. ... I needed counseling, not a sex-change operation."
Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans for Truth, told WND that he's monitored statements by Obama officials encouraging those who believe they are "transgendered" to lobby for the inclusion of sex-change procedures under Obamacare. He said that in the U.S. "counseling" might be of little assistance to a person such as Kane, because the "professionals" probably generally would argue for a sex-change treatment for someone with such a disorder.
LaBarbera told WND he believes parallel organizations are needed to the various psychiatric and medical associations "who say there is an alternative to this lunacy" of sex-change surgeries.
He said in the U.S., the "inmates are running the asylum."
According to the Christian Institute, there are a multitude of cases developing in the U.K. in which children as young as 16 have been given sex-change treatments. Parents have lobbied the National Health Service for drugs for their children for such treatment. In the U.S., there are programs in which doctors encourage parents to treat their children with drugs that delay puberty to make sex-change treatments more "successful."
The institute reported Kane, born Sam Hashimi, had an operation in 1997 to make him look like a woman. Taxpayers there paid an estimated 100,000 British pounds. He said he then lived as Samantha Kane, engaging in a jet-set lifestyle.
Then in 2004 he decided living as a woman was a mistake and proceeded to spend another 25,000 British pounds on three more operations. He now is seeking funding for a documentary he wants to call "The Sex Change Delusion."
The institute noted that critics of such operations have called gender dysphoria a psychiatric issue. A British government report in 2000 said, "Many people revert to their biological sex after living for some time in the opposite sex."
Regina Griggs, a spokeswoman for Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays & Gays, argued taking hormones or changing body parts by surgery does not change a gender.
"These people need help. I wholeheartedly agree with that," she said.

Prominently Displayed on Page A-5 of the Main Section of the Times on 11/18/10 was the following Headline in regard to the Very Close Race for Judge:
"Alameda County Makes Judicial History - Voters elect nation's first transgender Judge to Superior Court" By Paul T. Rosynsky
Which was the First Time the Times Mentioned the Facts of the Race (Self Mutilating Male Drag Queen running as a 'Womyn' on a platform of Hatred against White Men)...
- since the one article from the Oakland Tribune re-printed on the Inside Back Page of the Sunday Local News on 10/17. which is to say Buried in said Back Pages under a lame headline title ("A Tale of Two Candidates)" where few readers would pay attention.
More Importantly - when the 'Media News' published an article endorsing Mr. Kolakowski's Opponent (printed in the Tribune on 10/24), the Times CENSORED IT, and All other Information about the Kolakowski campaign-including a Letter to the Editor they said they would print.
In other words - the Times maintained a Complete News Censorship Blackout of the Kolakowski Campaign from 10/17 onward, including refusing to run their own organizations Endorsement of his opponent, and Refused to even discuss why they were doing so.

The Vote was that close, and contrary to the story below the fact is that Mr. Kolakowski was so Dishonest in His Candidate Statement for the Voter Guide that He Deliberately Omitted mention of His 'Tran-eee' Status, and instead focused on trashing White Men (just like him, only without mutilated genitals) as his agenda...
Hence - He Obviously Needed all the Lamstream Media Help He Could Get - and He Got It...
Particularly Censorship of Ungood Facts about Him Until AFTER the VOTE.

Alameda County home to first transgender judge in nation

OAKLAND -- Alameda County has become home to the first transgender trial judge in the country as Victoria Kolakowski won the race to fill an empty seat on the county's Superior Court bench.
Final results from the county Registrar of Voters show that Kolakowski won 50.98 percent of the vote against deputy district attorney John Creighton, who won 47.98 percent of the vote.
The race gave voters a distinct choice between a candidate with unquestionable experience and one who would have brought a new level of diversity to a bench populated by prosecutors and men.
Creighton was the candidate with experience, with more than 25 years arguing cases in front of juries as a county prosecutor.
Kolakowski was the candidate hoping to bring diversity to the bench through her transgender experience and her background as an attorney focusing on civil matters through her job as an administrative law judge at the California Public Utilities Commission.
Kolakowski won a primary in June and campaigned on a platform of being the first transgender judge in the state and bringing change to a bench that, she argued, was too overloaded with white males.
Creighton campaigned on a platform of experience as he argued that his time in the Alameda County District Attorney's office gave him the experience a judge needs to make sound rulings from the bench during a trial. He also had the backing of more than 80 percent of judges in the county court system.

Making History!If I am elected, I would be the first transgender trial court judge in the United States.
Electing a transgender person to the superior court would be transformative.
Most members of my community have some interaction with the legal system. Transitioning sexes creates a wide range of family and legal issues, such as divorces, custody disputes, birth certificate changes, etc. Unemployment and underemployment are major problems for the transgender community, and many are sex workers.
This is why I am proud to serve as co-chair of the board of directors of the Transgender Law Center, an organization dedicated to addressing these problems.
Many members of my community are the victims of cruel hate crimes. Eight years ago, Gwen Araujo was brutally murdered here in Alameda County. Her mother, Sylvia Guerrero, is a supporter of my campaign.
For these reasons, many judges, attorneys, police officers and prosecutors have little positive interaction with the transgender community.
For example, in the late 1990s I represented a client in a complaint before the Berkeley Police Review Commission, a female-to-male transsexual who had been physically removed by a Berkeley police officer from a public restroom. My client was traumatized and humiliated, and the complaint eventually led Berkeley to develop a model sensitivity training program for police. Unfortunately, those attitudes continue with many people today.
I believe that interacting with a transgender judge would help the other judges, court staff, police, district attorneys and the private bench to see people like me as respectable professionals and even colleagues, and not as “freaks.”
Therefore I am passionate about blazing this trail for my community. I have been very fortunate to have a successful career as a public servant, and I feel an obligation to serve my community as a role model as well.
I want to be clear that I am not asking voters to elect me simply because I am transgender. I bring 21 years of legal experience, including almost five as an administrative law judge, and perspective and personal qualities that would benefit the bench and the county.

Self Mutilating Male Drag Queen to Take the Bench - and Shove It
MISANDRY – The Hatred of Men, Masculinity and Normal Heterosexuality, has been a big part of the ‘News’ (not discussing it, but promoting it) of late, particularly at the CC/Valley Times…
Where their highly public Celebration of the soon to be sworn in Male Drag Queen named Kolakowski to the Alameda County Courts – Contrasts greatly with the heavy Censorship and Propagandizing they used to cover up the facts about the Radical Activist agenda of this Self Mutilation Man who pretends to be a ‘womyn’ - Before the Election.
Refusing to publish the Media News Editorial Article endorsing Mr. Kolakowski’s opponent, apparently because it actually mentioned Kolakowski’s ‘tran-eee’ agenda in print, was only the most glaring example of Censorship by our lamestream media, although possibly the most effective.
Of course, given that the Editorial was also available On Line it was not enough to Censor it from Print - but they Also Disabled the Link to the Endorsements on their Website - just to be sure.
Contrasting the near total blackout on Printing such information about this Self Mutilating Male Drag Queen Before the Election, with the in your face celebration in print After the Election – clearly highlights the nature of the media manipulation scam. – at least for those paying attention.
Consider – Since the Election there have been several articles about this “Historic” event, including a Big story (complete with Headline Tags and Pictures) in the 1/2/11 Times, notifying the “Vanilla” (clueless suburban voters / taxpayers) that a candidate they could have voted against (had they only known) is now going to have Contempt Powers available to Jail anyone who fails to pretend this Male Drag Queen actually changed His Gender.
The story of the Media Coverup is actually rather transparent – despite attempts to muddy the waters after the fact, and shows the Utterly Corrupt nature of our bought and paid for ‘free press’ – and why we no longer have a genuine democracy with such hateful propagandists sabotaging the electoral process.
But then Mr. Kolakowski, for all His posturing on His website, took the cowardly road of deception (what a surprise) and used his Published Candidate Statement to trash White Men (He still is one, even if he mutilated his own genitals and hides behind a mask of cosmetic goo) – without mentioning He ‘used to be’ a White Male. He instead played the radical gender feminist Misandry card and stirred resentment against Men based on Race and Gender as a tool.
Of course playing on MISANDRY as a noble sentiment is a staple of our Lamestream Media – as the Big Editorial ‘Cartoon’ run by the Times in its 12/30 dead tree edition showed – where a White Male is Beaten with a Club – as a sign for the need for ‘tolerance’ of all things depraved, hateful and perverted – in a PC manner.
The whole story is so good that it just begs for a feature length article on the web, and I do expect to publish one soon – and of course be denounced for telling the truth publicly about a Scam so successful Only because of such heavy media censorship.
But then as any of our bought and paid for ‘watchdogs’ can tell us - in an Age of Abomination, Tolerance Macht Frei!

Kolakowski Supports Rape by False Pretense!
Mr. Kolakowski (soon to be Judge Kolakowski, thanks in no small part to electoral manipulation by the Times) has a special fondness for promoting Rape by False Pretense (of Men) as a social good - given His repeated homages to the Homo-Anal Male Drag Icon known as "The Menstrual Boy" - Eddie Araujo.
Eddie is the one who strapped down his intact male genitals and pretended He was a 'girl' having 'her' period, so as to encourage other Males to engage in Homo-Anal behaviors with a faux female - and got caught at it.
When two low life scumbags who fell for the lie became outraged and killed the Menstrual Boy, He then became a safely dead 'media martyr' - meaning he could be used for propaganda purposes without the fear he would show up and give away the lie. Like the depraved homo-anal coprophile ephebophile Harvey Milk, the Menstrual Boy in real life was too problematic to present in a sympathetic manner to the public, and only after death can his act be sanitized without fear of exposure of the lie.

Gays aren't "born that way" -- a lesbian says so By Bryan Fischer (Renew America) In an astonishing column published in the winger-left publication, "The Atlantic," openly "queer woman" (her words) Lindsay Miller says flatly, "In direct opposition to both the mainstream gay movement and Lady Gaga, I would like to state for the record that I was not born this way."Tellingly, she argues that saying people are "born this way" is a form of condescension, and she resents it mightily. "I get frustrated with the veiled condescension of straight people who believe that queers 'can't help it,' and thus should be treated with tolerance and pity."
I've got news for Ms. Miller — it's not straights saying that you can't help it, it is your co-belligerents in the homosexual movement. In the pro-family movement, we entirely agree with you that sexual behavior in the end is always a matter of choice. We have no condescension towards you in the least — we regard you as men and women made in the image of God who are perfectly capable of making responsible and mature decisions regarding your sexuality.
Ms. Miller concludes her piece by saying, "The life I have now is not something I ended up with because I had no other options. Make no mistake — it's a life I chose."
Homosexual activists must be seething at this point, since Ms. Miller has blown their entire civil rights argument — we're just like blacks — to smithereens. Blacks did not choose to be black. Race is immutable, assigned at birth. But homosexuality is not immutable and it is not fixed at birth. Ms. Miller has chosen lesbianism, which means she is perfectly capable of choosing sexual normalcy if she becomes so inclined.
Ms. Miller confirms what Colin Powell said long ago, that the comparison between race and sexual preference is "convenient but invalid."
It's time to send the "born that way" myth to the graveyard of misbegotten ideas, buried in the plot next to the myth that the sun revolves around the earth.
And we don't just need to take Lindsay Miller's word for it. Psychiatrists William Byne and Bruce Parsons wrote in Archives of General Psychiatry(March 1993) that, "Critical review shows the evidence favoring a biologic theory to be lacking ... In fact, the current trend may be to underrate the explanatory power of extant psychosocial models." In other words, nurture plays a greater role in sexual preference than homosexual activists want you to believe.
As Peter Sprigg of the Family Research Council points out, rigorous studies of identical twins have now made it impossible to argue seriously for the theory of genetic determination. If homosexuality were fixed at birth, as the misguided thinking of homosexual activists goes, then if one twin is homosexual, the other should be as well. The "concordance rate" should be 100%.
But it's not. One early proponent of the "born that way" thesis, Michael Bailey, conducted a study on a large sample of Australian twins and discovered to his chagrin that the concordance rate was just 11%.
Peter Bearman and Hannah Bruckner, researchers from Columbia and Yale, looked at data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health and found concordance rates of just 6.7% for male and 5.3% for female identical twins.
They determined that social environment was of far greater significance, and their research led them to reject "genetic influence independent of social context" as an explanation for homosexuality. They concluded, "..[O]ur results support the hypothesis that less gendered socialization in early childhood and preadolescence shapes subsequent same-sex romantic preferences."
As Sprigg observes, "If it was not clear in the 1990's, it certainly is now — no one is 'born gay.'"
The implications, of course, of this simple truth are far-reaching. If homosexual behavior is a choice, then our public policy can freely be shaped by an honest look at whether this behavioral choice is healthy and should be encouraged or unhealthy and dangerous and consequently discouraged.
The elevated health risks associated with homosexuality are by now so well established that not even homosexuals pretend otherwise. The Gay and aLesbian Medical Association warns that active homosexuals are at elevated risks of HIV/AIDS, substance and alcohol abuse, depression and anxiety, hepatitis, a whole range of STDs such as syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, pubic lice, Human Papilloma Virus, and [bleep] papilloma, and prostate, testicular and colon cancer.
Bottom line: this is not behavior that any rational society should condone, endorse, subsidize, reward, promote or sanction in domestic policy or in the marketplace. It's a choice, and a bad one at that. It's long past time for our culture to say a simple and direct "No" to homosexuality and the homosexual agenda.
