Ohh spectacular, another career politician who has never created wealth or value gets to rape us and our pocket books. I am a native Californian, and I am getting pretty sick and freaking tired of all the ignorant liberals out here in this district.
People that voted for Obama or this guy oughta be the first to loose their jobs and suffer national healthcare.

I think it would be prudent for the media to report the winner only when ALL precincts have reported.
The results can change, before then.

I like the idea of the Obama and Garamendi supporters loosing their jobs first; Garamendi's made no bones about his liberal point of view.
Personally I don't feel I live in a Republic any more, but in something worse. I'm moving OUT of California. I've had enough.

Perhaps that is because you are seriously out of touch with the majority of the electorate in this district. The election has taken place. Your candidate lost, by a substantial margin. Get over it. Your poor loser attititude is very unamerican.

"Your poor loser attititude is very unamerican."
ScreenName, try putting some thought into what you are saying. It is actually very American to dissent. Dissent is what brought America into being, and made it the country that it is (although those of your ilk are trying very hard to change the ground rules). As a matter of fact, if your memory can be jostled a bit, it is what the Progressives have been using all along to get us to the unenviable place we are today.
"Get over it"
ScreenName, if our founders had "gotten over it" there would be no America today for you to be able to accuse dissenters of being unAmerican. What needs to be "gotten over" is your callous and sneaky attitude of wanting to try to quell the debate that constitutes the freedom that we as Americans enjoy.
ScreenName, your closed mindedness and narrow attitude do not belong in America, or in California, for that matter.

Thank god the rest of the country realizes what a mess we are in by voting against Obama backed canidates. Too bad we have to put up was more taxes, more government jobs, more government spending and the rest of Garamendi's garbage. With a majority of Americans now saying Obama is taking us in the wrong direction and the Democrats losing all the swing elections this has to one of the quickest turnarounds for any President. It only took ten months for Independants to realize the huge mistake they made by voting for Obama. Papers like the CC Times and major news outlets will try and spin it otherwise but they'll have trouble doing it with a striaght face. If you still subscribe to this rag I suggest you cancel. Read the Wall Street Journal. They now have a weekly Bay Area section. The Times has become a liberal mouthpiece with no credability after endorsing Garamendi.

Good idea. Cancel your subscription to the CCTimes. And while you are at it, think about not posting to these message boards either. After all, why provide free content to a 'liberal mouthpiece'?

... and that's why New Jersey and Virginia voted out the Obama-backed candidates. Too bad California is still stuck in the same self-centered mode of supporting whatever Democrat is running for office.
I love it! The CCT endorsed Garamendi because of his long record of public service and extensive knowledge of how Washington "works" to get things done. Obviously, that hasn't worked - yet the CCT continues to endorse those cretins (with apologies to cretins out there - I meant no disrespect).
This administration/Congress/state legislature is the most inept crowd around - and yet the general public continues to elect them (by and large), in spite of the lowest ratings EVER.
How are liberals gonna spin those low ratings by blaming Bush???? Congress has been controlled by the left wing for the past 2-1/2 years, and all they've accomplished is giving themselves another raise. The state legislature is an even bigger joke.
Time to toss ALL the bums out.

Now Garamendi can go to the House of Representatives and vote for all the same kind of ruinous tax and spend legislation and immigration policies that tanked California. When the Chjnese Navy sails into SF harbor to repossess the country for unpaid debts, I for one will welcome our new Chinese overlords.

Here we go again, a whole bunch of crybaby conservatives threatening to cancel their subscriptions and move out of California. Well, get out already then! The state would be a much better place without you. Have fun in Alabama.
And by the way, in his first year, President Obama is not going to be able to wave his magic wand and fix 8 years of failed policies.

....sounds just like the crybaby liberals who were whining about Bush "stealing" the election a while back. Deal with it. It's the pot calling the kettle black....... The Democrats have held a majority in Congress for the past 2-1/2 years - what have they accomplished? Giving themselves raises? The Democrats have held a majority in the state legislature for decades and what have they accomplished? Highest tax rates in the country? Inability to pass a budget on time?
Of couse - Obama can't "wave his magic wand and fix 8 years of failed policies" in one year. The moron of management isn't going to be able to "fix" anything in his entire term without taxing the living crap out of the entire populace and your children and grandchildren, etc...
The state probably would be "better" without the conservatives. That way, you liberals could tax each other to death and stand around blaming each other..... or blame anyone else from decades gone by.
... and just what is wrong with Alabama??? It sounds like your view of the world is limited to those liberal bastions of society.

Conservatives read CCTimes online for free so they can comment. And most Conservatives will stay in California because they still have a job in the economy that the liberal NY based financial sector - epitomized by Goldman Sachs - wrecked by lending to minorities, then securitizing the c-r-a-p loans and selling them to gullible hard working foreigners like the Chinese. But the Chinese have a 4000 year old empire and a really long memory, so sooner or later these bad debts are coming out of somebodies hide.
Hope you enjoy being shipped across the Pacific in chains to dig coal with your hands in Huangtou.

Good point......
If you look at the Letters to the Editor page, you'll see a few writers that are consistently published - WAY more than the CCT's advertised policy (which used to be once/month).... and these all tended to the left of the political spectrum.
When I contacted the editor at the time about the apparent disparity (and not even bothering to contact me about letters I had written for publication), I was told essentially that they published letters that mirrored their circulation demographics..... If I didn't like it, too bad. In other words, they're not concerned about opposing viewpoints based on fact, but on whatever opinions match their preconceived notions.... presumably to keep their sales up.
I find it interesting that they quote Thomas Jefferson at the bottom of the editorial page (about freedom of the press) - sure, there's freedom.... but when you own the press, you can choose to publish what you want and say what you want without fear of being called on the carpet.
Hmmmmmmmmmm.... sounds just like the politicians and most of the rest of the mainstream media. And you wonder why the MSM is going down the tubes and alternative news sources are hitting it big? Why do you think the politicians are trying to silence conservative talk radio through the so-called Fairness Doctrine (which isn't)?

I know I shouldn't be surprised that the 10th District elected a politician that has been involved in the demise of CA for the past 20 years, but I am. Garamendi has been part of the problem…WAKE UP CA! When are you going to realize that business as usual will not work any longer? This state is in the toilet, virtually bankrupt and all because of politicians like Garamendi. AND now you want to send that to the national level?! This is NOT about the D's vs. the R's... it’s about fiscal responsibility, actually fixing problems, and responsible leadership. Garamendi has failed in all of these. He's part of the problem.

The important thing is the people were given a choice, they voted freely and that is a fact. There will be another election, there always is. The system is flawed for certain and we have VERY bad politicians on both sides but this is our system. I for one do not trust the politicians from both parties although there are also good honest ones in both parties. We need to get special interest power away from both parties. This is a big problem and not easy to fix.

While the politicians and the special interests are a problem, we also need to get the professional staffers out of there. They do most of the reading of bills and making recommendations, so the elected politicians just take the summaries and vote based on what they're told.
No wonder so many of the legislators admitted to not reading bills on which they voted.
To me, that's a hangin' offense. Doing that in the "real world" would get your butt fired for fraud.

It's a fact that those who can afford broadband Internet access (and others) don't have to worry about the $50 or so a month just for Internet access. And that Republicans or their supporters, read 'conservatives', anti-Obama, etc. are the majority among that group. So, these 'sour grapes' postings here should be taken with a grain of salt. The folks on this forum are NOT representative of the voting population, that's for sure.

I am a conservative on some issues and more of a libertarian on others. The Dems are all about going the way of socialism. This system is not what our country is all about but the country can in fact vote for this. Import enough illegal aliens and at ssome point you will be mexico. In the minds of the dems this is just fine as they will pick up these votes and they know it. How good is that for the country?
The replubicans have made big mistakes in spending as well. They have also gone into some issues they should have stayed out of. They are a party divided right now.
They do not have the media behind them liek the dems do. In fact the one solid media outlet the Rs have is under attack by the president in a way that if Bush EVER tried such a thing there would be howling in the streets.
If a dem has no experience then experience does not matter but if he does then all of the suddden it is an issue. I love the union thugs they are so cozy too as well. We all know they have our best interest at heart.

After the election victories yesterday in NJ and Virginia I'm getting psyched about a possible Tom Campbell victory in the CA governor race. Tom's a really decent, capable guy with a solid business background. If the Sacramexico power game doesn't corrupt him, he might succeed where the Gubinator-turned-jelleyfish failed.
