"Strengthening the Republican Brand." - Change your mascot from an elephant to an ostrich. I voted for Barry Goldwater in my first election and have been a long time registered Republican. I recently changed my party affiliation to "decline to state" on my voter registration because neither party has the public's interest in their positions. Dogmatic, archaic, uninspiring are the best way to describe both major parties.

California Republican Party
First, they gotta figure out when you're the backside of the team you have to find a visionary who can see the front. Imagine the energy if Ron Paul was the 3rd speaker.
Second, they gotta recognize their strength. They have nothing to lose.
"Strengthening the Republican Brand"? As long as they think it's about them, instead of We the People, they're going to continue to shrivel up and blow away. (Change your logo from an elephant to a llama and see what happens.)
Instead of squabbling over the wealth that is created, show the world how to create wealth instead.
Be the parent instead of the child.
Most of my friends and acquaintances are seething over the state of politics in America today. Why aren't the Republicans asking why? (hint: it's not about knowing the answer)

I am that Republican woman in red of whom the writer of the article is referring. It was the beginning of the convention when Mr. Harmon interviewed me. I have more comments to make now. I am still seething from the anger I felt as I watched our six Republican representatives fold and vote to pass that horrific tax raising budget! We Republicans have now lost nearly all our credibility! WE are the party that is supposed to be the firewall between the people and the tax and spend Democrats! We have failed them! Why would they bother to vote for us, or anyone now? I do send huge kudos to the "R"s who stood strong and did not cave! My own Senator Huff and Assemblyman Hagman did not cave and for that I am grateful! Thank you guys! As my husband picked me up at the airport last night, he also was seething! He told me that he could not trust the Republicans anymore and today he would be switching to Libertarian or Independant! Now, I don't think he will follow through because he knows we are the party with which he identifies the most! However, if my husband feels this way, is there any wonder we have LOST five million Republicans in the last few years? I am so pleased that those six turn coats were censured and we as a party will not "be there" for them in any way when they run for re election! It was the right thing to do! We HAVE to show the people we will throw the bums out if they don't adhere to the Republican values! If only we could have a recall of all six!!
