Health Care

I believe that no United States citizen should ever be denied medical treatment.  I believe receiving medical treatment should not be so costly that one is forced to loose their life savings, their home or be forced into bankruptcy.

As I see the current debate, there are several issues that are driving this administration to push for government health care, a proposal that will rob individuals of a free choice, cost billions and billions of tax dollars and place citizens health care under the control of government bureaucrats.   I do not agree with those who believe government intervention is the only way to solve these issues.  We need to keep government out of our lives especially under this current administration, an administration that is not interested in providing affordable health care, but are only interested in gaining as much power over us, controlling every aspect of our life.  The goal is not health care; it is remaking the fundamental building blocks of this country.

Insurance companies will not insure those who have a pre-existing condition and have failed to propose a program that spreads the risk so these individuals can become insured.  Someone has to pay the medical expense for these individuals and since the insurance companies won’t, state government should impose a tax on them to fund the cost of their medical care.

Currently, all insurance companies who write health polices in California pay a 2.35% tax on every dollar of premium they collect.  The state should raise this tax by 1.00% to 3.35% and use the funds to pay the reasonable and customary medical expenses for those qualified state residents who cannot get insurance because of pre-existing conditions.   All states should implement this program and insurance companies should pay a premium tax to each state based on the state of residence of the policyholder.  Individuals in these state programs should pay a reasonable insurance premium, based on their ability to pay, to the state once they are accepted into the program.

While I do not agree with the comment above, it is not the usual nonsense that I see/hear from the opponents of the Health Care reform bill. I believe that Health Care should be affordable and that those with pre-existing conditions should not be denied. A person loosing a job today has a max of 3yrs of Cobra. After that, the price of insurance for anything comparable is outrageous and most likely not available. I say this because if you are over 40 you are most likely going to have a pre-existing condition. It is my hope that there can be a reconciliation between the Congress and the Senate Bill and we can get the health Care Reform we need.

Whether or not the cost of COBRA coverage is reasonable or outrageous is a matter of perception and one's individual financial situation. Many would argue, based on their own experience, that the cost of obtaining COBRA coverage is much higher than what was the case when the coverage was employer paid, and is outrageous from the outset.

Nancy Pelosi finally unveiled her massive 19+ pound, nearly
2,000-page government takeover of healthcare. And she is
already pushing for a floor vote as soon as next week but
no later than Veteran's Day, Nov 11.

This bill is longer than Leo Tolstoy's ponderous book "War
and Peace"!  It is five times longer than the Old Testament!
In short, it's a monstrosity.  And most of it is written
in "legalese"!

The last bill from Pelosi was 1,000 pages. They didn't think
anyone would read it, but we did, so now she added another
1,000 pages! My staff is pouring through the text and I will
have a report for you as soon as possible.

Here's what we already know:  Pelosi's bill includes the
"public option," government-run, taxpayer-funded abortions
and alarming new taxes.  No wonder they've been hiding it!

On Page 110, lines 17-22, there is explicit authorization of
a new government health insurance program that commits federal
funds to pay for abortions!

So much for President Obama staring directly into the
camera and promising no federal funding of abortion!
And what about his promised "conscience clause"
        protection for doctors and nurses?

We also expect Harry Reid's version of ObamaCare to emerge from
behind closed doors any day now, with pressure for a vote as
soon as possible.  That means we could be facing TWO major votes
on ObamaCare within the next week to ten days!

++They've "Shown Us The Bill," but it's largely unreadable!

As you might expect from the Obama/Pelosi/Reid power axis,
Congress will now be RUSHED to approve bills that no staff
can be reasonably expected to digest in just a few days.
Lawmakers tell us it could take a week or more just to get
through the text, but Pelosi will be demanding passage by then!

When confronted with the bill's staggering length and complexity,
Democrats say Congress has already dealt with every part of the
bill!  Well, maybe a FEW of them have - behind closed doors -
but nobody else has seen this radical manifesto!  It is TWICE
as long as anything the committees spewed out!

+ + Pro-life Congressmen facing intense pressure

Thankfully, many courageous pro-life Democrats and a growing
number of moderates are speaking out against their leadership's
kamikaze plans. One Representative even said he was willing
to jeopardize his career to stand up for life.  But the
pressure to fall into line next week will be immense!

I didn't vote for this Obomanation!!

you sit there doing NOTHING. just whine and cry! and then everyone else on earth should do what YOU want, eh?

nothing is wrong with health care. nothing is wrong with insurance. if there is, go fix it. start your own insurance company. do you think martians started the companies currently in existance? No, humans did. are you just too lazy? or just like to complain?

quit turning to the government to fix your problems. they aren't your nanny!!!

and if you worked harder you wouldn't be out of a job. or start your own company and not rely on someone elses Cobra contributions! or just move to Canada or another socialist country. we're not socialist but you crave socialist programs!?

Apologies. I do not disagree with the whole of your statment. I do agree with your first paragraph; however, I do not believe: ...that The government option will "rob individuals of free choice". An option is not a requirement. In this version, if you like what you have you can keep it. ...that the government option will "place citizens health care under the control of government bureaucrats." ...that this administration is not interested in providing afforrdable health care. ...that this administration is only interested in gaining power over us and controlling our lives. About Pre-existing conditions - As I understand it, if everyone is covered and all companies must insure, then the risk is spread to all insurers. While I am not able to put forth funding proposals, I believe that Insurance companies make plenty on those of us who pay and pay with few requests for service. At the end of the day, what is being discussed now is not the bill that will reach the presidents desk for signing. The congress and the sentate must compromise. If the minority party continutes to just say no, the majority should pass health reform. That is why we elected them.

I asked you if my solution to pre-existing conditions would be solved by increasing the premium tax on insurance companies and having individual states administer payments to those who qualify.    That is a yes or no answer.  You only indicated you agreed with my first paragraph.

You wrote about what you don’t believe but offer no reason for those beliefs.  For example, you indicated that those who are satisfied with their current insurance would be able to keep it.  No one is claiming that the proposed policy says outright, you will loose your current insurance. However, since most of us are covered by our employers, the employers will choose, as a cost cutting measure, the public option, thus an unintended consequence of this legislation, will be that choice is lost.

I am curious as to why you believe that a government option is the only solution to this problem.  We need reform but why the government?  Would you tear down a house just because the plumbing is bad?

It is the states that decide if a particular insurance company can even write a policy in their state.  There should be increased competition and no insurance company should be denied access to any state.

Do you realize that states are who controls what insurance companies cover in a policy?

For example, why should women pay a premium that includes a PSA test?  Further, why should a man pay a premium that includes the cost of a mammogram?  Individual policies should be customized to the individual and the individual should decide what coverage is needed based on the amount of financial risk one is willing to take.

Finally, the minority party is not just saying NO.  They are offering alternatives but the majority party is blocking amendments to HR3200 in committee.

I do believe this administration, by offering only a government solution and not working with the private sector, is interested only in gaining power, political power to win future elections.  This has nothing to do with giving us affordable health care; it only has to do with gaining power.

Poll - 70% OPPOSE Obamacare

Much has been said by Obamacare proponents of the poll that advertises that most people want it. Little has been said about how the participants were selected or what the questions were on the poll.

Well, here's a poll that states how the participants were selected, and what the questions were. Open and honest. Not like the results presented by our 'representatives'.

ObamaCare - the Tax Bill

The 1500+ page senate health care bill has the word "tax" 124 times, "taxable"  158 times, "excise tax" 12 times, and "penalty" 79 times.

When I was poring over it for "illegal alien", I came across the section that states that income from illegal alien dependents has to be reported, but the dependents may not be counted toward credits.

Immediately following this section was the change of the wage percent exclusion for medical deductions being raised from 7% to 10%. In other words, a 3% tax hike if you have high medical expenses.

"womyn of colour" - is that anything like those who use too much makeup?

Hah - Gotcha, trick question, there is no such thing as too much makeup.

Still - If Womyn took just One Half of what they Already Spend (their own discretionary decision) on Makeup Alone...

They could fund all of this and then some (ad in a 50% cut in all the other drag stuff and the sum increases greatly)...

Without having to ask 'permission' of (or tax) any Male Pig Oppressor.

Women of Color United for Health Reform
– a collaboration by the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum, the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health, and the Black Women’s Health Imperative – has been organizing for this moment. Congress needs to hear from our community. We need to flood the Capitol with our calls. Congress must pass health care reform that works for women of color.

Women of color work hard to keep this country going strong. We deserve a national health care system that works just as hard for us. But, as health care consumers, workers, and decision-makers for our families, we know that the current system is greatly failing women of color...

Aborted Fetal Material Used in Anti-Wrinkle Creams

TENNESSEE, Oct. 27, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Children of God for Life announced today that Neocutis, a bio-pharmaceutical company focused on dermatology and skin care, is using aborted fetal cell lines to produce several of their anti-aging skin creams.

For years Children of God for Life has been a watchdog on pharmaceutical companies using aborted fetal cell lines in medical products and they have received thousands of inquiries from the public on the use of aborted fetal material in cosmetics.

However, the group says that this is the first time they have encountered any company bold enough to put the information right on their own website and product literature.

"It is absolutely deplorable that Neocutis would resort to exploiting the remains of a deliberately slaughtered baby for nothing other than pure vanity and financial gain," stated Executive Director Debi Vinnedge. "There is simply no moral justification for this."

Neocutis' key ingredient, known as "Processed Skin Proteins," was developed at the University of Luasanne from the skin tissue of a 14-week gestation electively-aborted male baby donated by the University Hospital in Switzerland.  Subsequently, a working cell bank was established, containing several billion cultured skin cells to produce the human growth factor needed to restore aging skin. The list of products using the cell line include: Bio-Gel, Journee, Bio-Serum, Prevedem, Bio Restorative Skin Cream and Lumiere.

Vinnedge is calling for a full boycott of all Neocutis products, regardless of their source.

"There is absolutely no reason to use aborted babies for such selfish motives," Vinnedge said. "It is anti-life, anti-woman and counter-productive as Neocutis is about to find out!"

Children of God for Life is advising women who are using Neocutis products to throw them in the garbage and to contact the company to express their concerns.

The pro-life group has also said that they will give free publicity to cosmetic companies who are not using immoral ingredients in their products.

"We know there are companies using moral sources for collagen and skin proteins. We intend to publicly promote these other cosmetic companies competing with Neocutis that are willing to step forward and contact us."

AARP sells out seniors for big bucks
November 9, 2009 AFA.net

The AARP claims to be all about representing the interests of seniors, but when it comes to health care reform, they are selling seniors down the river to line their own pockets.

The AARP has endorsed the gargantuan PelosiCare bill that just passed the House, despite the fact the bill proposes more than $400 billion in cuts to Medicare, which is certain to lead to rationing, inferior care and "death panels" for vulnerable senior citizens.

Why? As they say, follow the money. PelosiCare will also cut Medicare Advantage by $170 billion. Medicare Advantage allows seniors to purchase private insurance with their Medicare payments, but these cuts will drive many of these seniors into inferior Medigap plans.

AARP has a vested interest in seniors being driven out of Medicare Advantage into Medigap plans because AARP makes a fortune in royalty fees from Medigap plans. More than one-half of its $1.1 billion budget comes from such royalty fees, and Medigap plans make up the biggest share of this royalty revenue by far.

The more seniors are forced out of Medicare Advantage into Medigap plans, the more money AARP makes. In other words, under PelosiCare, seniors lose but AARP wins - big time.

Even the Washington Post noted the conflict of interest on Oct. 27, when it said, "Democratic proposals to slash reimbursements for...Medicare Advantage are widely expected to drive up demand for private Medigap policies like the ones offered by AARP."

TAKE ACTION

If you are an AARP member, we urge you to cancel your membership today.  Their number is 1-888-687-2277.

American Seniors Association (ASA) is an alternative we suggest you check out. AFA does not officially endorse ASA, but simply offers it as a conservative alternative to AARP. By the way, ASA is offering any senior that sends in a torn AARP card a special deal that provides them with a two-year membership for the price of one year.

JAIL FOR NO INSURANCE UNDER PELOSI BILL (Dick Morris.com)

The nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation reported that the House version of the health care bill specifies that those who don't buy health insurance and do not pay the fine of about 2.5% of their income for failing to do so can face a penalty of up to five years in prison!

The bill describes the penalties as follows:

* Section 7203 - misdemeanor willful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.

* Section 7201 - felony willful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to five years." [page 3]

That anyone should face prison for not buying health insurance is simply incredible.

And how much will the stay-out-of-jail insurance cost? The Joint Committee noted that "according to a recent analysis by the Congressional Budget Office, the lowest-cost family non-group plan under HR 3862 (the Pelosi bill) would cost $15,000 by 2016."

Obama's bill only provides subsidies to help pay this enormous sum after families making about $45,000 have paid 8% of their income for insurance and after those earning a household income of about $65,000 have kicked in 12%.

The Joint Committee on Taxation noted that while the Senate Finance Committee version of the bill did not include criminal penalties, "The House Democrats' bill, however, contains no similar language protecting American citizens from civil and criminal tax penalties that could include a $250,000 fine and five years in jail."

Remember that simply buying catastrophic insurance, which may be all the young uninsured family needs, does not constitute having adequate insurance under the Obama bill. It has to be total, all inclusive insurance for one to avoid the penalties in the legislation. That is because Obama wants to use these premiums from the currently uninsured to subsidize his program.

So Ms. Pelosi is requiring Americans to pay these steep premiums, or a fine of 2.5% of their income for not doing so, or, potentially, go to prison!

Anyone who is familiar with the U.S. prison system can attest to the large number of people incarcerated for similar white collar offenses.  That the House bill would treat failure to carry health insurance or pay the fine as tax evasion or willful nonpayment is amazing!

And where is the constitutional basis for requiring everyone to buy insurance?  It is OK for a state to make drivers pay for automobile insurance.  Driving is not a right, it is a privilege, and the state may regulate it by demanding insurance.  Banks can require homeowners to buy insurance as a condition of their lending.  But how does the federal government get the right to require a family to buy health insurance or face a civil penalty and, failing that, to face either a criminal fine or jail?

The tough penalties in the House bill are designed to keep insurance companies from opposing the bill.  It was the relaxation of these penalties in the Senate Finance Committee version of the legislation that led the companies to reverse field and come out in opposition to the legislation.  The insurance companies want to see their coffers swell when tens of millions of new customers are required to buy insurance.  The more draconian the penalties for failing to pay them large sums of money to pad their bottom lines, the better.

The more you read this bill, the worse it gets.

Bottom line - if the healthcare bill formulated by the House of Representatives is so great, why did they reject 11 amendments to add them to the program?
