On Earth, the best use of Natural Gas is in the finely tuned and most efficient way and that, to your total surprise, is by producing electricity. Their turbines turn at precisely the constant speed, the speed at which they are most efficient -their design speed.

Yes, they could, and do, produce more and less power than the optimum rated power but their efficiency in energy conversion drops, gradually, in a range near the optimum. When the air conditioners go off in the afternoon, about half the powerplants are shut off.

Just imagine what could be done if the Power Company could promote more efficient ways to USE the power they supply.

1. They could, by remote control, start operation of an ice maker next to the air conditioner and, when the A/C is turned on, it would run the air through the ice first and add cooling, if necessary.

2. After the noon hour, when power use begins to drop from its maximum level, the power company could remotely start electric devices that take Hydrogen out of clean water. These electrolysis devices would be run at normal Gas Stations to insure safety and sell the Hydrogen to car, Hummers, like the Governor´s, and busses, like AC Transit has.

The bottom line is that everyone wins.

A. The power company would not need to buy new power plants.

B. Everyone could run Hydrogen powered cars, not just our Governor.

C. The air would be cleaner and the electric power price would probably drop due to the excess supply of oil, which could be used to run power plants, like some do now.
