In a much-overlooked radio interview, FOX-TV analyst Tim Ryan told a Bay Area radio station that former Raiders coach Jon Gruden and former Raiders senior assistant Bruce Allen are open to returning for a second stint.
Ryan made it clear that he wasn’t told as much by either Gruden or Allen but that he is confident that both would accept an overture from managing general partner Al Davis to come back to the place where they enjoyed raging success from 1999-2002 — Gruden left after the 2001 season, Allen soon thereafter.

THE FUTURE
it's not gonna happen maun so it's better to stop thinking about it at this point....gru and davis didn't end pretty behind closed doors....davis just needs to back off with his methods, but it won't happen.

yeah i could sure as hell guarantee that i would fly to oakland to see that press conference. just to see who al would try to blame his mistakes with allen and gruden on. as far as i know, he's only admitted making one mistake himself ever, and that was firing art shell the first time. (on a side note, do you remember the game in miami where hostetler got right in art's face on the sidelines, and as a result we got the pleasure of watching vince evans qb the rest of that game? classic moment, kind of like gannon coming off the field and ripping callahan and trestman both a new one in denver in 2003.)
al would have to admit two mistakes, let alone one, for that to happen. i think the day that were to ever happen, we'd all have to prepare for hell freezing over the next day. actually, on second thought, hell would have a better chance of freezing over first.....before al would swallow his pride.

As long as Gannon comes back with them. Gruden won't coach JRuss.

Tony, is it because JRuss is young, or he's unable to perform in Jon's offense?

Young/inexpierenced. Not exactly football smart. Cable publicly said that JRuss could not get the O lined-up correct on the first play of the game. This would kill Chucky.
Cap, you probably remember this better than I, but I believe it was the last hear Gruden was here. Gannon got clobbered and went to the sideline woozy. Gruden before he would let Gannon back in the game made him go through the audibles of a certain formation, which Gannon nailed. I don't know if JRuss could do that after the QB's meeting let alone with a bell ringer.

I think getting Bruce Allen back would be better than anything, not sure what Grudens plans will be. Their will be several coaching vacancies at the end of the year. I see Gruden somehow going to Notre Dame.

Lets be real here. neither one would come back as long as AL is breathing. He would NEVER take back these two.

You're probably right but, neither publicly bashed Al...Still highly unlikely...Wouldn't you love to see Al give up his position to Gruden?
