Ohhhhh, it's been absofreakin'lutely awful the past few days running. Hellooooooo, Times Webmaster? Double-yoo Tee Eff?!
Not just the forums, but the whole flippin' website as well. Usually it's the home page that turns pokey, while the forums are just fine (probably a graphics-loading issue), but with both of 'em not cooperating at the same time, it's a real PITA.
Coincidentally over the past several days, when the Times is being pokey, so are CNN.com, weigh[bleep]chers.com, and Facebook.com, all at the same time. None of my other open websites are having a problem, just these four. Once any one of those becomes unstuck, so do the other three . . . until one of them decides to get stuck again, then they all go. Maddening.
Edited to add: How stinkin' ridiculous the Times' censor software is. I cannot help it if w e i g h t w a t ch e r s . c o m just so happens to contain an allegedly naughty word in the middle of it. BAER. My, what dirty minds the programmers have.
After e-mailing everyone at CCT yesterday, that from their job descriptions appeared to have something to do with the web, it was our old friend Ari Soglin who came through, as usual and got the IT folks attention. Everything seems to be back to normal.
Well, I spake too soon...Now the load is randomly fast or agonizingly slow. No rhyme or reason. Must be some real quirky servers at the Time Forums. Their news pages seem to load just fine, though...
