Hi all. I am a single mom to 2 and am looking to move to Antioch. I have been offered a home on Jenifer Ct. and was wondering if anyone knew anything about it? Is it a safe place to rise my little ones alone? Thanks for any replies.

For Antioch, I don't believe that is too bad of an area. It is near two major roads, but not too bad IMO.

Jennifer Ct. is as safe as anywhere in Antioch. The amenities are: 2 blocks from a park,a couple blocks from a major grocery store. A couple blocks from an indoor shopping mall and a hop and a skip to the schools and the freeway.

That is not a good place for you and your children to live. the police are always going in that area for fights and shots fired. you can do whatever you want, but i woulnt feel safe anywhere in that area. why dont you ask the cops how all that area would be for youg kids and a single mom.

I honestly do not know what is happening in that part of town. Where do you live now? How old are your children? Just curious. Antioch in general is in a state of flux. There are some serious crimes happening on a day to day basis that makes us go ... what!?! Not in MY town. But sadly, yes it is here. Probably not going away anytime soon, if ever. If I were advising a family member, single with children, I'd say no, do not move here.

Being a long time native of Antioch I hate to say it but do not move here. I helped my daughter and her family buy a house several years ago and have lived to regret it. I would rather they had stayed in their rental in Walnut Creek. Their neighborhood is bad and so is the school my grandchild would have to attend. We have him in private school. I love the Antioch of old... but those days are long gone and will NEVER return even given the efforts of the good people of Antioch. The Fat Beagle's Mommy

Mommieof2,___________________________________________________ In my opinion, Antioch is turning the corner in the correct direction. A big first step was taking back City Park. As I drive by there, I now see a lot of kids playing on the swing set instead of a lot of homeless people. The schools are definitely going in the correct direction. Most people are happy with the elementary schools and, in my opinion, the high schools are improving.______________ Based on the theory, buy low, sell high, perhaps this is the best time to buy in Antioch. We have a very respected police chief, the group UCBN has been picking up steam for the last few years and the citizen's and police are aggressively going after the troublemakers. A lot of things are getting better in Antioch. I am very happy with the education my children have received in the Antioch School District.________________ Andy

Well, I hate to rain on anyone's parade, but if you have a choice, I wouldn't move to Antioch. I don't see that Antioch is getting any better. I've lived in Antioch for 26 years, and recently moved out of the area because I just don't feel safe there anymore. Being a single mom myself, I was always afraid of getting out of my car at night, and walking me and my daughter to our apartment. The crime rate has gone way, way up. Jennifer Court is not in a good area. I would say that if you do decide to move to Antioch, try to move toward the Hillcrest area. Although as of late, it seems like there might be more crime going on there than anywhere else. I moved out to the Danville area and I'm much happier and feel much, much safer but it's also a lot more costly to live in that area. Have you looked around in the Brentwood area at all? It's not too far away from Antioch, and from what I hear there isn't as much crime and riff raff, but I could be mistaken. Does anyone know?

I am moving from Pittsburg to Antioch. My kids are young both under 10. I think in light of everything I will check with the local PD and see what the safest most affordable areas are in Antioch or ask around at DS school. If need be I will relocate to the Oakley area seeming how it's not that far from here and this is where my family is. Thank you again for all your responses.

I LIVED ON CATHY CT, WITCH IS THE NEXT COURT OVER. MY CHILDREN, MY HUSBAND AND I LOVED IT THERE. I HAVE A 12 & 10 YR OLD BOYS. WE LIVED THERE FOR 3-4 YRS. DURING THE SUMMER MY CHILDREN WOULD STAY OUTSIDE WITH ALL THE OTHER KIDS IN THE NEIGHBOR. WE LEFT DO TO FINACIAL PROBLEMS THEN THERE WERE CONFLICT WITH MY LONG TIME FAMILY FREIND ALSO NEIGHBOR. MY ADVICE TO YOU THE KIDS THAT LIVE THERE HAVE BEEN FRIENDS SINCE THEY WERE STILL IN DIAPERS, AND THEY SICK TOGETHER. AND PICK ON THE NEW KIDS. ONE BOY ESPECIALLY THINKS HE RUNS THINGS AND THAT HE CAN'T BE TOUCHED. OTHER THEN THAT THE NEIGHBORHOOD IS VERY QUIET AND SAFE
