This guy is a bum. I watched him play here in Minnesota when he was "a player with something to prove," and all he showed me (and everyone else) is that he's slow, has sketchy hands, and is not willing to put in the work to be an NFL receiver. The only thing he will prove, if he signs with any team, is that he is good at squandering opportunity. We cut Mike Willams last year, do we really need more half-assed retreads like this on our squad? I say no...
The one reason I could see bringing in Robinson is that with Carr gone, we need a return man, and Robinson is a good returner. As far as being a receiver, he is probably about done. He has tons of talent, but lost out in GB to Ruvell Martin. If you are thinking to yourself "Who the hell is Ruvell Martin?", that is exactly my point. He lost out to a nobody in GB's offense.
We have Curry, Carter, Walker, Higgins, and McFadden to go out wide. We also have a few other guys looking to try out. Let's get some depth at the D and O lines and call it an off-season.
On paper the Raiders look like they should be a much better team than last year. Jordan and either a 6th round WR or DE are candidates to be cut along with a few others. I bet we lose a few before we sign any. Then again I was wrong about the Raiders drafting McFadden so what the hell do I know?
I do know that I'll be in Oakland, watching the Raiders take the field against the Broncos and I'm sure the intensity will be huge. See everyone in the Buffet line at halftime.
Higgins is terrible! Remember we had to get Tim Dwight last year. Curry and Walker are question marks. Carter is also, but Higgins I can flat out say stinks! We are going to have to do better.
I think we should bring Robinson in for a look. If he blows we cut him. But our WR corp. is more suspect than our D line. Maybe one of these draft picks we got can come in and make some plays, but their coming off injuries, which already puts them at a disadvantage. Maybe Mcfadden or Bush can be the guy. Miller will be tied up helping the worst tackle in football - Kwame Harris.
I have to agree, Higgins is terrible. I'm not even sure that he makes the team this year. Walker, Curry, Carter, Arman Shields will be the first four, and either Buchanon, McFoy, and Holland, could very well beat out Higgins for the 5th or 6th spot (if there is even a 6th receiver again this year.
Worst tackle in football, Harris, no, couldn't be, he took over for the worst tackle in football. His name was Barry Sims. Our team penalties were reduced by 50% when Barry was cut, but I guess he isn't in the league now, so he doesn't count. Maybe the next worst is Gallery, who isn't even allowed to play tackle anymore....So maybe he doesn't count. Oh crap... I'm hoping a change to the zone turns Harris into a probowler...It's my only hope.
Buchanon, McFoy, Holland

take the guy cheap....really cheap, because he will screw up...he is guaranteed to screw up, because he screwed up everywhere else he has been....peace
If they can get him cheap then go for it. I'm quite sure that anybody behind Curry is all that better of an option at this point. Besides, he's a return man and as such he could service two positions of need with only one roster spot. Those 2 position guys can really help a team out, especially when we have several positions that are deep in terms of players who can contribute (RB, DE, DT etc). Not all those positions may be loaded with elite talent, but there is a possibility of the depth at the position due to the lack of studs present.
well if i had to pick between robinson and henry, it's no contest. i'd bring in robinson, simply because of, as you pointed out, his experience as a kick returner. he's an above average return guy, let's get that straight, and it's probably the main reason why teams still give him a shot. my understanding is that he is NOT currently facing any pending disciplinary action by the league...unlike henry. i don't necessarily view robinson as "a ticking time bomb" as i do henry. i would have to think robinson would come cheap, given his history. bring him in, let him compete with branch for the return duties (unless of course JLH decides to turn into the next dante hall this season!). maybe robinson comes in with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove, then he's a cheap find. if not, then he just gets cut. so what? no question, take a chance if he's cheap.
I have to agree with both of you. I'm all for bringing guys into training camp just to see what they have. You never really know when a player will find their system and be able to thrive in it. If Robinson would be willing to come here for the vet min. I don't see what the problem would be, hell even 1 mil for a year isn't that big of a deal. The guy still has to prove himself to get paid, and like you both pointed out, the fact that he can return balls and has decent WR skills, he could pan out as a #4-5 option to a thin WR corps.
You bring all solid points to the table yet again bro. I agree with all of them. Chris Henry I mentioned because I was surprised that someone hadn't already and tried to make my best Raidermick impression. But Robinson I would actually be on board with. Lets also not forget that if he's signed to a short contract now but is then cut before the season starts we have lost nothing.

He sucked here in Seattle. Make a trade with Detroit, or wait till June 1st for a receiver.

I think it's just Seabass drumming up publicity and is looking for another connection for extacy...
