We're hearing from some Alamo readers about our recent combination of the Walnut Creek and Alamo My Town pages into a single Walnut Creek-Alamo page at http://www.contracostatimes.com/walnut-creek-alamo. Readers would like to see us bring back a separate Alamo My Town page, but that's not going to be possible.
We started these locally focused pages four years ago. One thing we learned is that the pages require regular maintenance. The web evolves so fast that we often need to make changes to our My Town pages. We do not have the resources to maintain to our standards some four dozen My Town pages in Contra Costa and Alameda counties pages. For that reason, we're gradually reducing the number of My Town pages.
Unfortunately, the Alamo page was among the first few that we decided to drop because of its low traffic numbers relative to other My Town pages. We chose to combine Alamo with Walnut Creek. Some readers have said we shouldn't link those two cities. So, we're now considering making Walnut Creek a standalone My Town. If we do that, we would not resurrect the Alamo My Town page, but we'd continue to have a section for Alamo stories on the Contra Costa County My Town page at http://www.contracostatimes.com/contra-costa-county. We welcome your feedback.
