A recent armed robbery at Creekside Park in Brentwood has stimulated a great interest in the Police Dept's Neighborhood Watch program among the residents who live nearest the park. A rep from the PD presented safety info to dozens of us at a meeting last week. In addition, our local residents are now sharing ideas in the brand new Neighborhood Watch forum at BrentwoodConnect.com. Topics include securing your home while you're on vacation, ground rules for N.W. meetings, and a wrap-up of last week's meeting.

The Brentwood Police Dept makes it very easy to establish a Neighborhood Watch program, as it's obviously in their best interest to help us help them. To start one up, contact Michelle Keady at 925.634.6911. If your neighborhood already has a program, it's still worth your while to contact the PD to ask them to help boost your efforts to keep your corner of town safe.

In an effort to improve safety and communication in our community at large, free Neighborhood Watch subforums are available at BrentwoodConnect for any east county neighborhood. Contact me ("monkeymaker") at BC to set one up. It's a snap, and I'd be happy to do it. :)
